Principle of opertion The signl pressure p st genertes force F=p st x A on the diphrgm re A (2). This force is blnced by the ctutor springs (4). Tking into ccount the rted trvel, the number of springs nd their compression determine the bench rnge. The trvel H is proportionl to the signl pressure p st. The operting direction of the ctutor stem (7) depends on the rrngement of the springs nd the signl pressure connection (). The stem connector (8) connects the ctutor stem (7) with the plug stem of the vlve. The djustble mechnicl trvel stop (Fig. 4) is suitble for ctutors mde of sheet steel with effective diphrgm res of 20, 240, 350 or 700 cm². Using the trvel stop, the ctutor trvel cn be limited by up to 50 % in both directions (ctutor stem extends or retrcts) nd permnently djusted. Actutors re vilble with the following fil-sfe ctions: Actutor stem extends (FA) The springs cuse the ctutor stem to move to the lower end position (sectionl drwings, right) when the diphrgm is relieved of pressure or when the supply ir fils. Actutor stem retrcts (FE) The springs cuse the ctutor stem to retrct (sectionl drwings, left) when the diphrgm is relieved of pressure or when the supply ir fils. 5 2 4 7 Fig. 0 Type 3277-5 for direct ttchment of ccessories 6 5 2 4 5 7 6 2 4 5 3 6 3 5 2 7 8 Fig. Type 3277, version with 355 cm² ctutor re 23 8 Fig. 8 Type 327 (right: with dditionl springs) 2 2 6 3 5 3 5 2 4 7 6 8 Fig. 9 Type 3277 for direct ttchment of ccessories 4 5 3 6 9 0 2 7 8 Fig. 2 Type 327 with dditionl hndwheel Legend (Figs. 8 to 5) Signl pressure connection 2 Diphrgm 3 Vent 4 Springs 5 Diphrgm cses 6 Annulr nut 7 Actutor stem 8 Stem connector Yoke 2 Actutor stem to hndwheel 4 Cp 5 Nut 6 Spindle 7 Plin bering 8 Lock nut 23 Hndwheel 2 T 830- EN

Principle of opertion The signl pressure p st genertes force F = p st x A on the diphrgm re A (2). This force is blnced by the ctutor springs (4). Tking into ccount the rted trvel, the number of springs nd their compression determine the bench rnge. The trvel H is proportionl to the signl pressure p st. The operting direction of the ctutor stem (7) depends on the rrngement of the springs. The stem connector (8) connects the ctutor stem (7) with the plug stem of the vlve. Fig. 2 shows the side-mounted Type 3273 Hnd-operted Actutor for ctutors with effective diphrgm res of 000 nd 2800 cm² nd mximum trvel of up to 80 mm. The hndwheel (23) is fixed to the worm-gered shft (20) nd moves the ctutor stem over the worm-gered wheel (2) nd the threded bushing (22). A side-mounted hndwheel s illustrted in Fig. 3 is vilble for vlves with 20 mm trvel. The djustble mechnicl trvel stop (Fig. 0) is suitble for ctutor versions 400-60, 400-20 s well s 2800 cm² ctutors nd tndem ctutors. The ctutor trvel cn be limited by up to 50 % in both directions (ctutor stem extends or retrcts) nd permnently djusted. The tndem ctutor (Fig. 6) contins two coupled diphrgms; they produce positioning force tht is twice s high s the force of single ctutor. Design nd principle of opertion Design nd principle of opertion The ctutors re designed for ttchment to Series V 200 Vlves (Type 332, Type 3323, Type 353, Type 3535, Type 324 (DN 65 to 00) nd Type 3260 (DN 65 nd 80). The ctutors bsiclly consist of two diphrgm cses, rolling diphrgm nd springs. The electropneumtic ctutors re dditionlly equipped with n i/p converter nd pneumtic control system for control opertion. For ctutors with fil-sfe position "Actutor stem extends", the converter nd the control system re mounted in the lower diphrgm cse, nd for versions "Actutor stem retrcts", in the upper diphrgm cse. The signl pressure cretes force which cts on the diphrgm. The springs instlled in the diphrgm chmber oppose this force, thus ensuring compenstion. When the signl pressure fils, the springs instlled either in the top or bottom diphrgm chmber determine the ctutor s operting direction nd fil-sfe position. Actutor stem extends: Upon signl pressure filure, the ctutor stem extends nd closes the vlve (globe vlve). Actutor stem retrcts: Upon signl pressure filure, the ctutor stem retrcts nd opens the vlve (globe vlve). Electropneumtic ctutors The electric control signl issued by the controller s reference vrible rnging from 4 to 20 ma is trnsmitted to the i/p converter where it is converted into proportionl pressure signl. The pressure signl cretes force tht cts on the mesuring diphrgm (). This force is then compred with the force of the mesuring spring (3). The movement of the mesuring diphrgm is trnsmitted vi the lever (2) to the force switch (5), nd finlly corresponding signl pressure is produced. Chnges in the input signl or the vlve position cuse chnge in the ctutor stem position, corresponding to the reference vrible. Tight-closing function: The electropneumtic ctutor is either fully vented or fully pressurized whenever the reference vrible exceeds or flls below certin preset vlue. Type 3372: "Actutor stem extends" includes switch-off function tht is ctivted when the switching point of 4.08 ma is not reched. The ctutor will be fully vented. In globe vlves, the ctutor springs will close the vlve. In three-wy vlves, port B is closed when the vlve is used for mixing service nd port A is closed when the vlve is used for diverting service. Type 3372: "Actutor stem retrcts" includes switch-on function tht is ctivted when the switching point of 9.92 ma is exceeded. The ctutor will be pressurized, cusing globe vlve to close tightly. In three-wy vlves, port B is closed when the vlve is used for mixing service nd port A is closed when the vlve is used for diverting service. 4 EB 833 EN

Attchment to vlve 2 Attchment to vlve Note! Pressurize ctutors with fil-sfe position "Actutor stem extends" before ttching them to vlve to llow the ctutor stem to retrct slightly. Should no signl pressure or, for electropneumtic ctutors, should lso no electric control signl be vilble during the mounting procedure, tighten the hexgon nut (6) ginst the force of the preloded springs using hexgonl wrench with width cross flts SW 36. Cution! Under no circumstnces must the rod nuts of the rod-type yoke be unscrewed. Actutors with fil-sfe position "Actutor stem retrcts" only require to be pressurized for ttching the stem connector. The reson for this is tht in three-wy vlves, for exmple, the plug stem might not rech the ctutor stem fter being pulled out of the vlve body. If this is the cse, the top diphrgm chmber must be pressurized until the plug stem nd ctutor stem come into contct so tht the stem connector cn be mounted. For electropneumtic ctutors, signl pressure cn be pplied to the pressure guge connection, however, the stopper (8.7, Fig. 3 top) must be removed first. Attchment using signl pressure or ma control signl. For the pneumtic ctutor, pply pressure of pprox. 3 br to the lterl signl pressure connection (8.5) locted t the bottom diphrgm chmber. For the electropneumtic ctutor, pply pressure of pprox. 3 br to the "Supply" connection nd dditionlly connect control signl of pprox. 0 ma to retrct the ctutor stem. 2. Remove the hexgon nut (6) from the vlve bonnet nd plce the ctutor with its stem retrcted by mens of the signl pressure on the vlve bonnet. 3. Mke sure the ctutor is in the proper position nd secure the hexgon nut (SW 36) pplying tightening torque of min. 50 Nm. 4. Pull up plug stem (3) until it contcts the ctutor stem. 5. Attch the stem connector pieces to ech stem nd screw tight using the fstening screws. EB 833 EN 7

Connections 3 Connections 3. Pneumtic connections The ir connections of the pneumtic ctutor re tpped holes with G/8 thred, wheres the electropneumtic ctutor hs tpped holes with G/4 thred. The customry mle connections for metl pipes or plstic hoses cn be used. Importnt! The supply ir must be dry, oil nd dust free. You re required to strictly observe the mintennce instructions for up - strem reducing sttions. Thoroughly purge the ir pipes prior to instlltion. The required supply pressure depends on the bench rnge nd the operting direction (fil-sfe position) of the ctutor. The bench rnge is written on the nmeplte, the operting direction is indicted by FA or FE, or by the respective symbol. Pneumtic ctutor: For "Actutor stem extends", connect the signl pressure to the bottom diphrgm chmber nd for "Actutor stem retrcts" to the top diphrgm chmber. The connection not used must be seled with vent plug. Electropneumtic ctutor: Connect the supply ir to the "Supply" connection. Actutor stem extends (FA): (Types 3372-x5x nd 3372-x53x Actutors) Fil-sfe position "Vlve closed" (for globe nd ngle vlves) Required supply pressure = upper bench rnge vlue + 0.5 br. Actutor stem retrcts (FE): (Types 3372-x52x nd 3372-x54x Actutors) Fil-sfe position "Vlve open" (for globe nd ngle vlves) The signl pressure must be sufficiently high so tht the control vlve closes tightly even ginst the upstrem system pressure. For the required supply pressure for tightclosing vlve, refer to the mounting nd operting instructions of the respective vlve, or roughly clculte s follows, using the mximum signl pressure pst mx : pst mx = F + d2 π p [br] 4 A d = Set dimeter [cm] p = Differentil pressure cross the vlve [br] A = Actutor re [cm 2 ] F = Upper bench rnge vlue of ctutor If nothing is indicted, proceed s follows: Required supply pressure = upper bench rnge vlue + br Signl pressure disply: To monitor the signl pressure, pressure guge with G/8 thred cn be screwed into the diphrgm chmber in plce of the stopper (8.7). Cution! In cse you need to dectivte the control vlve, you must switch off the reference vrible. Note tht it is not enough to disconnect the supply ir. 8 EB 833 EN

Checking djusting zero nd spn 4 Checking djusting zero nd spn (Electropneumtic ctutor only) Note! Mke djustments on the mounted vlve only! Zero nd spn re djusted to determine the strting point nd the upper rnge vlue of the ctutor. When the control signl (reference vrible) issued by the controller chnges from 4 to 20 ma, the control vlve must correspondingly pss through its entire trvel rnge from 0 to 00 %. Zero djustment is lwys bsed on the closed position of the control vlve. Assuming globe vlve (closed fil-sfe position) combined with Type 3372-(0/)5 or 3372-(0/)53 Actutor with fil-sfe position "Actutor stem extends", zero (strting point) must be djusted to 4 ma nd the upper rnge vlue to 20 ma. Wheres ssuming globe vlve (open filsfe position) combined with Type 3372- (0/)52 or Type 3372-(0/)54 Actutor with fil-sfe position "Actutor stem retrcts", zero must be djusted to 20 ma nd the upper rnge vlue to 4 ma. We recommend, however, tht you check zero fter the ctutor hs been ttched to the vlve. Proceed s described below:. Connect n mmeter to the control signl input nd pply compressed ir to the "Supply" input. 2. Loosen the fstening screw nd push the cover plte (8.9) side. 3. Pull the jumper from the pins to dectivte the tight-closing function. Zero is djusted on the djuster (4) nd the upper rnge vlue on the potentiometer for spn (0.). Importnt! Any spn djustment results in shift of zero. Therefore, the zero point must be redjusted fter spn djustment. Importnt! Zero nd spn of the electropneumtic ctu - tor re djusted to rted trvel by the mnufcturer. 0 EB 833 EN

Checking djusting zero nd spn 4. Adjusting ctutors with fil-sfe position "Actutor stem extends" Zero point (strting point). Use n mmeter to djust the input signl to 4 ma. 2. Turn zero djuster (4) until the plug stem just begins to move from its rest position. 3. Switch off the input signl nd then slowly increse it gin. Check if the plug stem begins to move t 4 (+0.) ma. 4. Correct ny devitions vi the zero djuster (4). Turning clockwise cuses the vlve to leve its rest position erlier, wheres turning counterclockwise delys the vlve leving its rest position. Upper rnge vlue 5. After you hve djusted the strting point, use the mmeter to increse the input signl to 20 ma. When reching the upper rnge vlue of 20 (-0.) ma, the plug stem must hve pssed through its entire rted trvel rnge of 00 %. 6. Adjust the potentiometer for spn (0.) until the upper rnge vlue is correct. Turning clockwise increses the trvel, turning counterclockwise reduces the trvel. 7. After correction, switch off the input signl nd slowly increse it gin. First check the strting point (4 ma), then the upper rnge vlue (20 ma). 8. Repet the correction procedure until both vlues re correct. 9. Plug jumper on the pins gin to ctivte the tight-closing function. Potentiometer for spn (0.)
