Leading The Way With Every Advance. The Cummins tradition of supplying customer-driven defense products is based on the company s ability to successfully harness extensive technical resources, while consistently enhancing its manufacturing, engineering and customer service commitments. Cummins position as a world-leading diesel engine manufacturer begins with the company s ability to rapidly develop products that exceed customer expectations and redefine performance limits. Cummins annual research and development budget of more than $200 million reinforces the company s commitment to quality. From research through extensive field tests, results are charted and customer response is recorded to ensure that Cummins products continue to meet the highest standards. The results of such an aggressive position can be seen today in Cummins newest electronically controlled engines. Total Quality In Every Design. Manufacturing high-quality, reliable diesel engines and components for defense-related applications is critical. Cummins first translates customer needs into technical specifications to ensure that defense products represent total quality by design. Once the design concept is proven, the resources necessary for manufacturing a product are identified. Through proprietary computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology, designers and manufacturing engineers work closely to design products that have the highest performance available, not only in the laboratory, but also in every customer s vehicles. Prototype units, operating in test cells and installed in representative vehicles, ensure that the design functions are proven. Pre-production units are assembled and rigorously tested for thousands of hours and millions of miles. Performance evaluations, based on units installed in customers equipment, are reviewed. Thorough management evaluation at every stage of the planning process underscores Cummins expectation for achieving product excellence, every time.
Total Support Every Minute, Everywhere. Supplying a military fighting force with the right equipment and support at the right time is critical.
