SRM 7.0.0.0EMERGENCY EXITS - REPAIRS 1. General The following pages contain details of approved repairs to the passenger compartment and flight compartment emergency exits. NOTE: The materials, and method of attachment of the seal for the passenger compartment emergency exits are identical to those fitted to the passenger compartment doors. Refer to 52-10-00, pb1. Reference must also be made to CHAPTER 51 for further information on structural damage and repair practices of a general nature, and also alternative materials etc. CAUTION: THESE REPAIRS MAY AFFECT THE FATIGUE CRITICAL BASELINE STRUCTURE. REFER TO 51-00-01 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON FCBS AND PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED, PRIOR TO INCORPORATING ANY OF THESE REPAIRS. 2. List of Approved Repairs: Typical Door Member Insertion Repair. Refer to, Figure 201. Typical External Patch and Stringer Insert. Refer to 52-00-00, Figure 201. Typical Repair to Door Structure. Refer to 52-00-00, Figure 203. Seal Replacement (Passenger Compartment Emergency Exit). Refer to 52-10-00, pb201. Seal Replacement (Flight Compartment Emergency Exit). Refer to Figure 201. Page 201 Feb 01/10

3. Seal Replacement (Flight Crew emergency exit) Refer to Figure 201. The sealing arrangement is different from other door seals on the aircraft in that a 'P' section seal is bolted to the Flight Crew emergency exit. Observe the following procedure when seal replacement is necessary:- A. Removal of damaged seal (1) Remove fasteners from lipped retaining strips. (2) Remove the retaining strips carefully from the structure. (3) Carefully remove the damaged seal from the door structure. (4) Remove old adhesive from the structure with BOSTIK thinners or other suitable cleansing agent. (5) Inspect the structure for damage, and prepare for new seal. B. Installation of new seal (1) Cut appropriate length of DUNLOP PSS1214 'P' section seal. (2) Mark off on the new seal the hole positions for fasteners. (3) Drill or punch out holes to suit the fasteners using the retaining strips as a guide i.e..1417 inch dia. for bolts. (4) Bolt seal to door using No. 6-32 bolts (spec. A113-1/2-B). (5) At joints insert an appropriate length of.375 inch. dia BESTOBELL 186-19 and attach using SEALASTIC ADHESIVE 732-RTV or equivalent. (6) Check that no loose debris or foreign matter has entered the door mechanism. (7) Inspect the new seal for a satisfactory fit. Page 203
