MODEL CONCEPT The 300 to 400cc-class utility four-wheel drive market forms the largest ATV market segment in which the manufacturers wage fierce competition by introducing new models one after another. Although the KVF300A model introduced by Kawasaki in 1997 was highly acclaimed, its competitive edge is waning against the offensive mounted by the competitors. KVF360A Kawasaki proudly offers a new middle-class models that have been developed to take on the highly competitive market. The KVF360A is a 4WD model that replaces the KVF300A. Powered by single-cylinder, air-cooled 362 cm 3 SOHC engines that deliver plenty of torque through their ample cylinder displacement, these models are equipped with the latest features many of which are found only on high-class models: KEBC (Kawasaki Engine Brake Control), Selectable 4WD/2WD, Variable Front Differential Control (KVF360A only), Enclosed Wet, Multi-plate rear brake, Inter-Lock Starting System, etc. 2013MY KVF360 4x4 Model Information Page: 2
MAIN FEATURES Engine * The newly designed 362 cm 3 air-cooled SOHC, 2-valve engine has 80.0 mm x 72.0 mm of bore and stroke, a maximum output of 15.7 kw {21 PS}/ 7,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 26 N m (2.7 kgf m) / 4,500 rpm. * The oil cooler is equipped with a fan for improved cooling efficiency. * The CVK34 carburettor ensures a smooth throttle response. * KEBC (Kawasaki Engine Brake Control) uses a speed sensor to detect the vehicle speed and electric actuators to smoothly control the brakes. * In addition to the electric starter, the engine is equipped with a recoil type starter. The KACR (Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release) facilitates manual starting. * The propeller shaft is built into the crankcase to reduce the size of the enginepowertrain into a compact package. * A balancer is built into the engine to reduce vibration. The balancer shaft also functions as the drive shaft for the oil pump, thus contributing to a reduction in the number of parts and weight. Transmission * The electric selectable 4WD/2WD system, similar to the one used on the flagship model KVF650F, enables the rider to select the drive mode in accordance with surface conditions or purpose. * KAPS (Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System), which shifts between the Hi, Lo, and Reverse gears, offers the ease of use that can be realised only by an automatic system that uses a belt-driven torque converter. * The shift lever is the same type that is used on the KVF650F, which is highly acclaimed for its ease of use. * Variable front differential control makes it much easier to get the ATV moving when it gets stuck. Lever operation allows the rider to adjust the amount of torque to suit conditions. * The double-cog belt ensures excellent durability. * The mono-shifter mechanism in the transmission contributes to weight reduction. * The Override Switch is provided in case more power is needed while driving in the reverse gear. * Air ducts are provided under the front fenders to cool the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) unit. 2013MY KVF360 4x4 Model Information Page: 3
Chassis * The double-cradle type frame made of steel pipes offers the strength to sustain high potential energy while realising a simple framework. The number of pipes has been reduced for weight reduction. * The swingarm, which is made of lightweight, highly rigid aluminium, has a built-in wet, multi-plate rear brake, similar to that of the KVF650D. * The axle shaft of the swingarm contains sealed bearings for improved mud resistance and maintenance. * Dual-disc front brakes provide impressive braking force and highly stable performance. * The enclosed wet, multi-plate rear brake completes the vehicle s mud resistance features and contributes to ensuring ground clearance through its compact profile. * The McPherson-strut front suspension has 170 mm of wheel travel, enhancing the vehicle s road-tracking performance. * The mono-shock rear suspension offers excellent damping characteristics. Together with the dual-rate springs that are equipped with a 5-stage cam for preload adjustment and 180 mm wheel travel, this suspension offers a comfortable ride and high road-tracking performance. * The knuckles are made of high-strength, lightweight aluminium. * The tyre sizes are AT25x8-12 for the front, and AT25x10-12 for the rear. The wheel rim widths are 6 inches for the front, and 7.5 inches for the rear. Other Practical Features * The engine can be started at any gear position, provided that the brake is applied. * The carriers, which offer excellent utility for a variety of applications such as work or touring, have a capacity of 40 kg in the front and 70 kg in the rear. * The newly designed floorboard has adjustable foot pegs with excellent grip. * The headlights use 30/30 W halogen light bulbs. * A neutral/reverse position indicator, 4WD/2WD indicator and an oil warning light are provided. * A 12V accessory outlet with 5A capacity is provided on the front fender for convenience. * Space is provided inside the front guard for accommodating a winch. Together with the highly rigid frame, this space enables the installation of a 2,000-pound class winch. * A lightweight and very accurate digitally controlled speedometer with LCD window displaying odometer, tripmeter and hour meter is offered as a standard feature. 2013MY KVF360 4x4 Model Information Page: 4
