FRAME Complies with DOT Specifications and has a rated capacity of 14,000# GVW, with Dexter Double Eye Leaf Spring Suspension and utility type hubs and drums. The independent suspension system serves to transfer instantaneous loads from one axle to another, equalizing the load between axles. 2 x 8 x 3/16 steel tube for frame rails, which run from the hitch point to the bumper or equivalent construction. (or equivalent). Frame height to bottom of frame from ground: About 19. Heavy-duty leveling jacks bolted to each corner of the frame rail. The jacks stabilize all 4 corners of the trailer during demonstration. Minimum ¼ steel plates should reinforce front and rear leveling jack mount points. The front jack mount is triangular in shape and reinforces the intersection of the hitch A-frame to rear, A 2-5/16 adjustable ball coupler is installed. A heavy duty manual hitch jack must be installed with a 3,000 lb. weight capacity Frame paint system should be a three-coat process consisting of one (1) primer coat and two (2) gloss black finish coats using the highest quality industrial paint available. Steel to nonferrous construction must be limited and mitigated for galvanic corrosion. 2
2. FLOOR 2x3 wood floor joists are to be on 16" centers and fully supported by both frame rails, a minimum of eight (8) heavy tube cross members and a heavy steel tube center support (1-1/2" steel square tube) that runs the full width of the floor. Between the frame and the floor structure there should be installed a reinforced poly vapor barrier. This barrier wraps up over the floor framing to provide a barrier to keep all moisture out. The space between each floor joist must be filled with full rigid fiberglass or foam insulation with an R-11 rating factor minimum. The top of the floor joists are to be 3/4 thick tongue and grooved oriented strand board, which is glued with urethane heavy-duty construction adhesive and screwed down every 8", where ever it touches a wood floor frame member. Commercial grade flooring with an embossed coined texture, will be installed wall to wall in the color gray. This material is skid-resistant. 3. SIDEWALLS. INTERIOR WALLS Sidewalls are to be constructed with minimum 2 x 3 vertical dado studs 16 on center. Hurricane straps are used as an additional measure of reinforcement to secure the roof structure to the sidewalls and the sidewalls to the floor structure. Fiberglass insulation is to be installed on all exterior sidewalls, front and rear of trailer. An R-11 minimum. The walls are to be covered with pebble finish Kemlite.090 fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) lining or equivalent. A six-port antenna panel will be installed through the wall (Location TBD) 3
4. ROOF Roof is to be constructed with a truss system. The top of each truss is arched and locked together using gang plates on every truss. These roof trusses are to be 16" O.C. in the roof framing and double the trusses at the air conditioning openings and at all rooms, which do not contain interior load bearing walls. This roof system enables the air conditioning to be ducted throughout the trailer and allows the passage of the bulk of the electrical wiring which minimizes the need to drill sidewall framing. A radiant barrier is installed over the roof trusses. Material should be laminated with a fireretardant adhesive to a full mil tear resistant polypropylene membrane. The barrier reflects the sun s radiant heat away from the roof in the summer, and reflects the radiant heat inward in the winter. This material increases the efficiency of the heating/cooling system and acts as a vapor barrier with a flame spread index of 10 and a smoke developed value of Class A. 7/16 OSB roof decking to be bonded to the roof trusses with premium urethane adhesive and mechanical fasteners. This creates an integral structural component. A one-piece seamless commercial-grade rubber roof membrane is installed over the roof. This commercial grade material will be a minimum of ¼ inch think and have a minimum 12-year limited warranty issued by the manufacturer. Trailer must have a full walk on roof capable of supporting 250 lbs. minimum. All mechanical openings on the roof are sealed with a self-leveling sealer. A roof access ladder will be installed on the front of the trailer. An aluminum tube antenna rail (about 8 x 7 ) will be installed on the roof and will have 4 standard NMO antenna mounts with fold down mounts on the corners. Cabling (RG-58 equivalent) with an external weather rating will be terminated inside the trailer at a location TBD. A radio antenna ground plane system must be installed. 5. SAFETY Double-wide entrance steps are welded to the frame and bolted to the floor to serve both entrance doors. No-slip strips on the steps are a required safety feature. (2)12-volt safety lights located on both sides of each entrance step area to provide safety lighting when entering and exiting the trailer. 4
Mandatory (DOT approved where applicable) LED brake lights, taillights, backup lights, clearance lights and a courtesy light by the hitch area are installed. The hitch connection power cord for the required DOT lighting is to be the universal Bargman 7- way male plug. A folding stainless-steel handrail system is installed at both door locations. The handrail must fold and lock to the side of the trailer when not in use. All exterior windows are manufactured out of safety glass. Four (4) 12-volt FRC LED scene lights (minimum 500 lumens each will be installed (2 RS and 2 CS) 6. AXLES.BRAKES Two Dexter 7000-pound round tube straight tandem axles and 4-wheel electric brakes (12 x2 electrically operated) are to be installed. Five eight lug trailer wheels with appropriate weight limit tires (four and a spare) included The braking system is to be wired with a breakaway switch, which locks the 4-wheel electric brakes in the event of a tow vehicle and trailer separation. 7. EXTERIOR Exterior covered with a high gloss gel-coat fiberglass in a sharp white color. The seamless FRP (reinforced plastic panels) panels are installed over a plywood backer. The lower front rock guard shall be an aluminum sheet with a diamond tread plate pattern. Lighted license plate bracket. Full-length rain gutters, with extensions, on both sides of the trailer. An 8x21 awning will be installed on the curbside. 5
8. DOORS.WINDOWS Two fiberglass out swing entrance doors (36"x75") with a 34 clear width opening are both located on the curbside. Keyed knob lock, deadbolt lock, and a metal door catch. Doors will include slide down screens or combination screen doors. Radius corner frosted safety glass windows. Fabric gray privacy day/night shades, with color-coordinated valances are installed on all windows. Two (2) 36x22 Windows (open pass through) will be installed in the radio room. Windows to be installed as low as possible counter top height to facilitate access from outside. A Rear Ramp door will be installed approximately 5 wide. 9. ELECTRICAL.LIGHTING A 3-prong electric inlet rated at 50 amps provides electricity to the trailer. The power cord is 30 in length and is accessible on the roadside of the coach via the lockable cable hatch. A solid-state 80-amp converter to provide clean DC power. With no load, the output voltage is 14.0 VDC, which re-charges the 12-volt battery to 100%, with optional timed voltage setback for long-term float service without over-charging. Battery will be a one hundred (100) amp hour lead acid deep cycle battery. An in-line surge protection system offers complete protection between ground, neutral and phase. A 12 volt disconnect switch is installed on the front hitch. This feature shuts down all 12-volt operated equipment to prevent battery discharge. Two exterior 110-volt duplex G.F.I. protected receptacles with self-closing waterproof duplex cover is located on both sides of the trailer. Quad outlet 110-volt (fifteen amp) receptacles are installed throughout the trailer. A wiring chase is installed around the entire ceiling for ease of installation of future wiring. A Snap-On chase cover is installed. 6
The interior of the trailer is illuminated with LED 12-volt (two lights per room) interior lighting. A combination 120/12v breaker panel is installed with 50amp main breakers 10. COMMUNICATIONS AREA The communications area will be located in the middle section of the trailer. Designed to comfortably accommodate Three (3) workstations. Standard height counters are constructed of a high impact laminate material. All overhead cabinets are aluminum with spring loaded upswing doors and have a white board paint for use as a dry erase board. Each of the Three (3) work stations will have the following located above the counter: One (1) 12v jacks Two (2) Land Line (CAT-6) connections which will be terminated at a central location (TBD) Two (2) 110v (fifteen amp) duplex outlets One (1) Task Chair (Uline H-5498 or equivalent) 11. RADIO AREA The radio maintenance area is located in the front of the trailer. Designed to comfortably accommodate Two (2) standard height work benches. All overhead cabinets are aluminum with spring loaded upswing doors and have a white board paint for use as a dry erase board. Each of the Two (2) work benches will have the following located above the counter: One (1) 12v jacks Two (2) Land Line (CAT-6) connections which will be terminated at a central location (TBD) Two (2) 110v duplex outlets One (1) Stool of appropriate counter height (Uline H-2506 or equivalent) 7
12 REAR STORAGE AREA The storage area will have eight (8) 1000 lb. D rings installed and recessed in the floor in the rear storage area. These D rings must be anchored securely to the subfloor. Four (4) duplex box outlets will be installed in the storage area (Location to be determined) 13. HEATING.VENTILATION.AIR CONDITIONER (H.V.A.C.) Two (2) 110 volt operated electric 750-watt wall heaters are to be installed. Heaters must be installed in both the front and middle rooms. The roof ventilation system is one (1) Ventline Northern Breeze 800 c.f.m. power vent (or equivalent). The vent will have an intake/exhaust mode and a variable speed. All vents are installed higher than the bowed roof to eliminate water traps and puddling. A Dometic 13,500 BTU Air Conditioner/Heat pump (or equivalent) is installed on the roof and ducted throughout the trailer. 14. A Floatograph mast model EM-20 will be installed on the rear of the trailer. This is a manual crank up mast with black powder coating. 16. R.V.I.A. Electrical, Plumbing, Fuel System and Fire and Life Safety Provisions of this vehicle are manufactured per the provisions of the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (R.V.I.A.). The standards of the R.V.I.A. Codes (ANS1 A119.2/NFPA 501C) are acted on by the National Fire Protection Association Inc. 17. NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE The vehicle to be built in compliance with the National Electric Codes. 18. WARRANTY The communications trailer will come with a minimum one (1) year warranty for the overall structure of the unit, Generator three (3) Year limited, Rubber roofing will have a twelve (12) year limited warranty. 19.
