GENERAL In-Flight Entertainment System 44-20: IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM 1. General This chapter describes the systems, units, and components which provide entertainment to the passengers with music, video, information, games, etc. Includes items such as controllers, cabin control panels, audio and video equipment, etc. This includes the in-flight entertainment system. A. In-Flight Entertainment The In-Flight Entertainment installation consists of cabin overhead display assembly, located on the cabin ceiling, between the airplane door and the egress window. The overhead display assembly consists of a 21.5-inch LCD, three printed circuit board assemblies, an IFE interface panel, and a display control panel for display adjustments. The overhead display assembly also consists of the mounting structure, a hinge, and a latching mechanism to enable the screen to be stowed when not in use. The display control panel is located overhead and is hidden behind the display when the display is closed. The IFE interface panel is located in the RH side seat pocket, below the egress window. The IFE interface panel contains a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port which provides source content to the LCD and toggle switch. The toggle switch is used to select the audio source between the HDMI port and the MUSIC 2 port. 1
2. Maintenance Practices A. In-Flight Entertainment (See Figure 44-20-1) (1) Removal - In-Flight Entertainment Display (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) (j) (k) Set BAT 1 and BAT 2 switches to OFF positions. Pull IFE CTRL circuit breaker (F7-RH side crew seat). Pull IFE USB circuit breaker (K1-aft circuit breaker panel). Lower IFE display down by unlocking display latch. Remove aft ECS control panel. Remove display control panel. Allow mid overhead cabin trim to rest on IFE display. Carefully lower aft side of the mid overhead cabin trim to gain access to display wiring and display circuit board. Remove screws, washers, and nuts securing display circuit board to IFE circuit board assembly. Support mid overhead cabin trim. Remove RH and LH side display hinge covers. Remove bolts, washers, and nuts securing display to hinge fittings. Remove display wiring, circuit board, and IFE display from airplane. (2) Installation - In-Flight Entertainment Display (a) (b) (c) Install display wiring, circuit board, and IFE display to airplane. Support mid overhead cabin trim. Install bolts, washers, and nuts securing display to hinge fittings. Install RH and LH side display hinge covers. 2
(d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) (j) (k) Allow mid overhead cabin trim to rest on IFE display. Carefully lower aft side of the mid overhead cabin trim to gain access to display wiring and display circuit board. Install screws, washers, and nuts securing display circuit board to IFE circuit board assembly. Carefully, place mid overhead panel to cabin celling. Install display control panel. Install aft ECS control panel. Reset IFE USB circuit breaker (K1-aft circuit breaker panel). Reset IFE CTRL circuit breaker (F7-RH side crew seat). Perform Adjustment/Test - In-Flight Entertainment Setup. (3) Adjustment/Test - In-Flight Entertainment Setup Refer to manufacturer s instructions for information on IFE setup. (Refer to 5-00) (4) Removal - In-Flight Entertainment Circuit Board Assembly (a) Set BAT 1 and BAT 2 switches to OFF positions. (b) Pull IFE CTRL circuit breaker (F7-RH side crew seat). (c) Pull IFE USB circuit breaker (K1-aft circuit breaker panel). (d) Remove IFE display. (Refer to 44-20) (e) Remove electrical connectors secured to the circuit boards on the circuit board assembly. (f) Remove bolts and washers securing circuit board assembly bracket to support mounts. (g) Remove IFE circuit board assembly from airplane. (5) Installation - In-Flight Entertainment Circuit Board Assembly (a) Install IFE circuit board assembly to support mounts and secure with bolts and washers. 3
(b) Install electrical connectors to the circuit boards on the circuit board assembly. (c) Install IFE display. (Refer to 44-20) (d) Reset IFE USB circuit breaker (K1-aft circuit breaker panel).
