ABOUT THE EVENT The 10th Annual Bali Pink Ribbon (BPR) 5KM Walk & Run Theme: A Decade of Educating Breast Cancer Awareness in Bali Day/date: Saturday, 20 October 2018 Time: Opening 2PM, with 5KM walk & run start at 4PM Venue: ITDC Nusa Dua Bali Organized Pink Ribbon House and BPR Volunteers
WHY DOES IT MATTER? Why Breast Cancer Awareness is Important? At present 1 of 8 women have a risk of developing breast cancer Second largest cause of death in Indonesia 80% of patients are detected already at stage 3-4 Treatment is difficult and a long process BPR aims to reduce the number of death rates by earlier detection through screening and increased awareness.
VISION & MISSION To educate local community in Bali from developing and dying of breast cancer To assist in improving the quality of life for those who suffer from breast cancer We conduct fund raising events throughout the year, gearing up to the Bali Pink Ribbon Walk in October, in conjunction with International Breast Cancer Month.
USE OF THE FUNDS Funds raised during the walk will be used to: 1. Purchase a mini bus for patients USG machine to reach more patients in remote area 2. Open a Breast Cancer Rumah Singgah in Denpasar area, for out of town patients to transit while waiting for treatment 3. Help finance seminar and screening road shows in 2019
PARTICIPANTS What is the estimated participants for 2018? Around 1.000 participants, - individuals, groups and families Consisting of Survivors, other foundations, and the general public from Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali, Singapore, Australia and other countries Ticket price IDR 200.000 to include t-shirt and finisher medal Available cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner, male and female category
