PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION INSTALLATION PREPARATION Negative Battery Before starting installation 1. Familiarize yourself with the installation instructions. 2. Inspect kit components (Refer to kit contents and hardware bag contents). VEHICLE PREPARATION PLASTIC NUT 1. Place protective coverings on vehicle. 2. "IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT" Disconnect Negative Battery Cable REMOVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE KICK PANEL: 1. Refer to the vehicle repair manual, and carefully remove front kick panel. REMOVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE SCUFF PLATE: 1. Refer to the vehicle repair manual, and carefully remove front scuff plate. REMOVE THE UPPER DASH PANEL: 1. Refer to the vehicle repair manual, and carefully remove the driver's side dash finish panel. Page 2 of 13
PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION REMOVE THE LOWER FINISH PANEL: 1. Remove (1) 10mm bolt and (1) phillips screw from the driver's side lower finish panel. 2. Disengage the hood release cable from the hood release latch handle. 3. Carefully pull the lower finish panel outward from the vehicle dash to disengage the snap clips holding it place, then set the panel aside where it will not be damaged. 10mm BOLT HOOD RELEASE PHILLIPS SCREW REMOVE THE LOWER CRASH SHIELD: This Step Is Optional 1. Remove (4) 10mm bolts from the driver's lower crash shield. 2. Place a protective cover on the driver's floor area, and wrap the metal crash shield with a cover to prevent scratching before moving it to the side. REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL SHROUD: 1. Remove the (2) phillip screws from the lower steering column cover. 2. Carefully dislodge the steering column cover tabs and remove the lower cover. Page 3 of 13
MODULE PREPARATION 1. Secure the antenna to the back side of the module, using a supplied foam pad. 2. Route the antenna and secure to the main harness with black tape or optional cable ties. "IMPORTANT...Failure to route the antenna cable as described will reslut in reduced range of the system. Tie / tape harness back to allow brown wire to reach tap location under steering column. INSTALLING PROCEDURES MOUNTING THE LED/VALET SWITCH: 1. Locate the provided knock out trim bezel. 2. Remove the knurled mounting nut from the back of the switch, pass the wires through the hole, then secure the switch with the knurled nut. 3. Remove the right hand knock in the trim panel and insert the provided knock out trim bezel. PREPARING THE LED/VALET SWITCH: Knock Out 1. Locate the 4 pin Molex connector found in the hardware bag included in the kit. 2. Carefully plug the terminals at the ends of the 4 wires from the switch into the connector housing as shown. MODULE IMPORTANT! Be sure to align the terminal correctly before inserting it into the connector housing. MOUNTING THE CONTROL MODULE: 1. Secure the module to the vehicle dash brace as shown, located left of the steering column. Use the adhesive pad to position module, secure in place with the long cable ties provided. INSTALLING THE SECURITY SYSTEM ROUTING THE MAIN HARNESS: 1. Route the security harness under the steering column, and to the area where the factory ignition switch connectors are located. 2. Route the portion of the harness which includes the ground ring terminal down to the kick panel. 3. Secure the main harness along it's routing with the cable ties provided. Be sure that the harness is clear of all sharp, hot moving objects. MOUNTING SHOCK SENSOR MODULE: 1. Plug the 4 pin connector end of the shock sensor harness into the matting connector on the shock sensor. Shock Sensor 2. Use (2) of the short black cable ties provided in the hardware bag, and secure the shock sensor to the main vehicle harness as shown. Set the sensitivity knob to position 2. IMPORTANT NOTE! Be sure to pass the cable ties through the holes in the upper and lower mounting tabs of the shock sensor, then around and securing to the main harness. Failure to do this could cause the shock sensor to become loose. INSTALLING THE SHOCK SENSOR HARNESS: 1. Route the harness towards the main control module, where it will not interfere with any sharp or moving objects. 2. Plug the 5 pin end of the harness into the matting connector on the main control module. 3. Secure the harness along the routing path using the cable ties provided. MODULE SHOCK SENSOR WIRE IMPORTANT! Make sure Page that 6 the of 14brake pedal, accelerator pedal, and accelerator pedal linkages are free and clear of all security harnesses. Page 6 of 13
INSTALLING THE SECURITY SYSTEM ROUTING THE LED HARNESS: 1. Route the LED harness from driver s dash area and secure the harness along it s routing with the cable ties provided. Be sure that the harness is clear of all sharp and moving objects. SECURING MODULE GROUND: Steering column showing ignition jumper secured 1. Secure the keyless entry system black ground wire to the left hand 10mm bolt securing the crash knee air bag. 2. Torque the 10mm bolt to 88.5 in. lbs. S Note: If the crash knee airbag was removed, use the torque sequence pictured when reinstalling the knee airbag assembly. Torque to 10Nm / 88.5 in. Lbs. Ground Location CONNECTING THE SECURITY SYSTEM HARNESS: 2 1. Carefully follow the wiring diagram and factory connector details on the following three pages. 1 4 3 T-TAP INSTALLATION: A. When installing female T - Tap connectors, be sure the wire is located inside the wire channel of the female T - Tap connector before closing connector over the wire with pliers ( Figure D ). Strip the insulation from both sides of the cut wire, and crimp the WHITE WIRE from the keyless harness to the HARNESS side of the cut wire. Crimp the BLUE/WHITE WIRE from the keyless harness to the CONNECTOR side of the cut wire. A. RECONNECT THE BATTERY: Connect Negative cable to vehicle battery and torque to 61 in. lbs. TESTING ALARM SYSTEM: B. Test BOTH remote transmitters, one at a time. Press and release the "LOCK" button. If the LED light on the transmitters fails to glow, you need to check the transmitter battery. C. VALET CONTROL SWITCH: 1. Sit in the driver's seat, insert the ignition key and turn to the ON position. 2. Press the valet control switch and verify that the LED light responds. Light should go ON and OFF with actuation of the valet control switch. 3. With the LED indicator light ON, ignition OFF and key removed, the security system is in the valet mode and the alarm should not arm. Press the "LOCK" button, the parking lights will flash once, all doors will lock, headlights come on for 20 seconds. Press the "UNLOCK" button, the parking lights will flash twice, driver's door only will unlock, headlights come on for 20 seconds. 4. Ignition key ON, LED light OFF, ignition key OFF. D. ARMING/DISARMING & PANIC: 1. Put all vehicle windows down and close hood and all doors. 2. Press and release the "LOCK" transmitter button. 3. All doors should lock, parking lights flash once, horn chirps once, headlights come on for 20 seconds and the LED should flash slowly. (Note: If the parking lights flash three times and the horn chirps three times, check for an open hood or door.) 4. Press the "UNLOCK" button, the horn chirps (2) times, parking lights flash (2) times, headlights come on for 20 seconds, driver's door only unlocks. 5. Press and hold the "RED" button to test the "Panic" function. The alarm should blow the horn in short, continuous blast, parking lights should be flashing. Negative Battery Cable E. SHOCK SENSOR: 1. Press the "LOCK" button to arm the system. With the open palm lightly slap the "A" pillar by the driver's windshield. You should hear short chirps from the vehicle horn. This is a check of the shock sensor "WARN-AWAY" function. Allow a few seconds for the shock to settle, then conduct the same check at various points around the vehicle. Sensitivity can be adjusted at the shock sensor for best response. 2. Slap the vehicle at the "A" pillar with slightly more force. The vehicle should go into full alarm. Press the "UNLOCK" button to disarm the system. Rearm the vehicle and conduct the same check at various points around the vehicle. Set in the driver's seat with all the doors closed. Press the "LOCK" button to arm the system. Insert the ignition key and turn to the start position. The starter should not crank the engine. Press the "UNLOCK" button to disarm the system. Turn to the start position. The starter should crank the engine. Exit vehicle. G. DEFECTIVE OR LOST TRANSMITTER: 1. Press the "LOCK" button to arm the system. Use the key to unlock and open the driver's door. The alarm will sound. Enter the vehicle, insert the ignition key and turn to the on position. Press the valet control switch once, the alarm should deactivate and the vehicle should now start. H. REMOTE TRANSMITTER OPERATION: 1. Press the "LOCK" button, the system should arm and lock all doors. 2. Press the "UNLOCK" button, the system will also disarm and unlock the driver's door. 3. Press the "UNLOCK" button a second time and all doors should unlock. I. INTRUSION TEST: 1. Rearm the security system by pressing the "LOCK" button. Open any door or hatch. The system should simultaneously sound the horn and flash the parking lights. 2. Disarm the security system by pressing the "UNLOCK" button. The system should sound (4) chirps of the horn, the parking lights should flash (4) times, indicating vehicle intrusion. 3. The LED should indicate the point of intrusion after disarming the system. Observe the LED for 1, 2, or 3 flashes. Compare your observations to the following. (1) Flash = Shock (2) Flashes = Hood (3) Flashes = Vehicle Doors SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY CLEARS ALL STORED VIOLATIONS WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH IS TURNED TO THE "ON" POSITION. END sensitivity adjustment SHOCK SENSOR LED Light Panic RED Button (Rear Cover)
TESTING THE SYSTEM: COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION 1. Prior to delivering the vehicle, test all features of the system according to the owner's manual included. ASSEMBLE ALL REMOVED PANELS TO THE VEHICLE : 1. Refer again to the vehicle repair manual and re assemble all panels that were removed for installation back onto the vehicle. PREPARING THE VEHICLE FOR DELIVERY: 1. Turn the arm / disarm chirps off. a. Start with the L.E.D. / Valet switch in the off ( out ) position. b. Turn the ignition key to the on position. c. Turn the ignition key off, then immediately press and release the L.E.D. / Valet switch 3 times. You will hear 2 chirps to confirm that the chirps were turned off. 2. Place the system into Valet mode. ( VPC only ) a. Start with the L.E.D. / Valet switch in the off ( out ) position. b. Turn the ignition key to the on position. c. Press the L.E.D. / Valet switch one time. The switch is in the in position, and the red L.E.D. is turned on solid, indicating that the system is in valet mode. 3. Applying the window warning decal: Apply the window warning decals to the driverside & passenger side windows. Apply the decals at the lower edge of the window. The decals are printed and are applied to the inside surface of glass. 4. Leave the KEYLESS ENTRY UPGRADE owner's manual in the vehicle glove box. OWNERS MANUAL: 1. COMPLETING THE INSTALLATION PROGRAMMING NEW or REPLACEMENT TRANSMITTERS TO THE SECURITY MODULE: IMPORTANT NOTE : Once you enter the programming mode, if 15 seconds elapse with no activity on the system, the programming mode will be terminated. If this happens, simply start over. STEP 1 To get started, enter the vehicle and close all doors, then lock the doors by using the door lock switch mounted on the driver s door panel. STEP 3 Press and Hold the Lock button on the transmitter until the Driver s Door Unlocks. STEP 2 Turn the vehicle s ignition key ON then OFF 7 times... STEP 4 Lock all doors by using the door lock switch mounted on the driver s door panel. STEP 5 Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for all transmitters that you need to program to operate the vehicle. (Maximum of 4 transmitters per vehicle) STEP 6 When all transmitters have been programmed, turn the ignition key ON then OFF to exit the program mode....ending in the OFF position. Page 12 of 13

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Prior to TPMS activation and Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) of the vehicle the TPMS light will blink when IG is turned on. After TPMS activation and PDS of the vehicle the TPMS light will illuminate for a few seconds and go off when IG is turned on.
