This is an outdoor loading facility.
ONLINE BOOKING SYSTEM All Trucks MUST have a time booked 24 hours in advance for loading prior to arrival at the plant. Book online at www.nscminerals.com (click on the Carrier Booking icon.) Instructions for using the system can also be found on our website.
GENERAL SITE SAFETY RULES Loaders have the right-of-way - No Exceptions! All drivers must obey posted speed limit traffic signs and respect all designated routes for traffic and pedestrians. All drivers must ensure the vehicle or equipment they are operating is maintained in good operating condition with all lights and safety devices functioning, including back-up beepers (when installed). Outgoing/loaded trucks on roadways have priority over trucks entering site. Stay with your truck at all times while on site. Drivers are prohibited from operating any NSC equipment.
GENERAL SITE SAFETY RULES PPE is required on this site at all times. CSA Approved hard hats, CSA Approved safety glasses, CSA Approved grade 1 safety boots with Metatarsal Protection (factory installed or met-guards), and class 2 level 2 safety vests must be worn while outside of your truck. Fall protection must be used when on trailers. Use of cellular phones is prohibited while operating trucks. Fall protection must be used on this site when loading or cleaning pneumatic trucks or when a driver is on top of their trailers. Three point contact must be used when mounting or dismounting equipment.
GENERAL SITE SAFETY RULES No smoking or vaping on site; inside your own truck is permissible. No sunflower seeds allowed on site. No photographs or videotaping allowed unless approved by an NSC Supervisor. Clean out your trucks in the clean out area of the yard only. Do not dump any product IN ANY OTHER AREA. Please follow ALL posted signage.
All loads exiting NSC sites with product must be properly secured prior to leaving the NSC site. GENERAL SITE SAFETY RULES This means: End dump, live bottom, or hopper tarps closed. Pneumatic hatches must be closed. Flat decks tarped. If applicable, proper PPE procedure must be followed.
In Case of Emergency or Need for Assistance Pause and evaluate Do not approach if it is not safe to do so. Notify the scale house of the emergency and what the emergency is. Ask the scale operator to sound the emergency horn.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR NEED FOR ASSISTANCE If emergency horn sounds (three short blasts), or you are instructed to move to the muster point. This is the NSC Flag at the scale.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY OR NEED FOR ASSISTANCE Stop work immediately, leave your vehicle, and report to the muster point. Remain at muster point until given the all clear or further instructions from the site manager or supervisor. If you are a witness to an emergency, provide assistance to the investigation by giving a statement or other information if requested.
DIRECTIONS Travelling East from Saskatoon on Hwy 16 turn right
DIRECTIONS Traveling on Highway 16 turn South onto Highway 2 towards Watrous. Turn West onto last gravel road immediately BEFORE the Mosaic potash mine. (approximately 500 meters before mine entrance). Follow gravel road 3 km until you see NSC Minerals site access on your left. ** Note There is no NSC Minerals site access through the potash mine security.
ARRIVAL PROCEDURE Upon arrival, stop at posted clean out area to open tarps and clean out trailers, if necessary. Turn CB to Channel 7. Turn VHF to LAD Channel 1 Announce Empty truck coming into the plant. Wait for instructions to pull onto the scale FACING the main office for initial weigh in.
Scale In, Turn Around & Load. Once scaled in use the space directly in front of the scale and main office to turn around and pull back onto the scale to load now facing north. Scale operator will provide directions over the radio and will load your truck.
TRUCK LOADING PROCEDURE Once loaded to the desired weight wait for paperwork and instructions before leaving site.
US BOUND TRUCKS To comply with our obligations for the US Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) and the Canadian Partners In Protection (PIP) programs, all US bound trucks will be subject to inspection prior to loading.
TRUCK LOADING PROCEDURE Once you have paperwork completed, tarp up the trailer in the yard, not on the scale. There is no tarping allowed on our scale. Trucks must tarp up or close lids before leaving NSC Minerals yard.
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE AT YOUR DESTINATION Be sure to phone ahead to the customer to arrange unloading at the destination. Do not unload unless the customer is present or unless you have the consent of the customer to unload unattended. Make sure to get the customer s signature on the paperwork after unloading, or indicate unattended delivery. Leave a copy of the paperwork for the customer. If a customer asks you to divert the load to another destination, please make sure NSC is aware of this request before diverting the load.
WHEN YOU ARE UNLOADING Be aware that salt sheds have strict environmental requirements. It is not acceptable to leave salt outside of the shed; if salt happens to be tracked through the yard it must be reported immediately to the customer and to NSC.
Call NSC and the customer to report the spill immediately. Try to contain the spill to prevent further environmental damage - if it is safe to do so. IF THERE IS A SPILL
