Geared for OIL & GAS
space saving, efficient, reliable......and over 40 years experience in supplying precision gearing to the oil and gas industry.
For more than 40 years, Allen Gears has been partnering major manufacturers and project engineers throughout the world s oil and gas industry to add gearbox expertise to their engineering projects. Manufacturing from its plant in Pershore, UK, the company has an impressive track record in a wide range of onshore and offshore applications, for example, oil pipeline pumps, compressor trains and seawater injection pumps. Parallel shaft and epicyclic gearboxes for the oil and gas industry, especially in the range 1MW 35MW, account for a significant part of our production output. They are designed to comply with either API or AGMA, ISO and DIN international standards for both onshore and offshore installations although every projects specific requirements are considered individually. Allen Gears skill in optimising gearbox designs is recognised to give benefits in weight, space, efficiency, reliability and cost to meet the most demanding conditions of each installation.
One of nine diesel-driven pump sets - incorporating the Allen Gears integral lube oil system parallel shaft gearbox - for the Indian Oil Corporation. Allen parallel shaft gearboxes with integral lube oil system for Weir Pumps Ltd motor driven pumps sets (2,143kW at 3586/6210rpm). Oil Pipeline Pumps Within our range of high speed parallel shaft gearboxes, we have developed a unit particularly suited to pipeline pump applications a gearbox with an integral lube oil system and oil reservoir. Advantages offered by integrating the lube oil system and gearbox are well proven.the single source of design, manufacture and testing of a combined unit, along with single delivery and installation proves to be very beneficial to the user. For installations in remote locations, whether diesel or electric motor-driven, the convenience of the single lift, together with the space and weight savings it also provides has proved very attractive to packagers.
Sea Water Injection Pumps For offshore platform-mounted applications, including seawater injection pumping, Allen Gears has developed a strong reputation for optimised gearbox solutions. Our ability to purpose-design and manufacture precision parallel shaft units has given packagers and manufacturers the flexibility they require and the assurance of high standards. Recently, Allen Gears was chosen to supply the gearbox to drive the largest seawater injection pump in the North Sea, retro-fitted to a gas turbine rated at 14,000 rpm. Vertical Pumps Our development of epicyclic gearboxes for use with vertical, motor driven pumps, has made this configuration particularly relevant for offshore applications. Between-deck space can be maximised by employing a vertical pump and driver arrangement. The skid is also less sensitive to deck deformations. Allen Gears epicyclic gearbox on one of two motor driven condensate pump sets supplied by Sulzer Pumps Ltd - 579kW at 1790/6600 rpm. The pump can be selected to run at optimum speed from a nominal motor speed by incorporating an Allen Gears epicyclic gearbox, designed to add little weight and volume and requiring no offset, whilst providing single stage speed increasing ratios of up to 12 to 1. Compressors Allen Gears has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of parallel shaft and epicyclic gearboxes for gas compressors, on and offshore. We purpose-design gearboxes to meet each customer s requirements, catering for a wide range of speeds, powers and ratios. The Allen Gears parallel shaft gearbox supplied for two gas turbine driven compressor sets - 33,351kW at 4800/8450 rpm.
