FRAME AND FLOOR: Dimensions will be approximately 96 wide x 144 long. 7 gauge steel side and end rails. Longitudinal stringers shall be 2 x 4 x 3/16 tubing running the entire length of the deck. 4 I-beam cross members 12 on center. Heaviest duty available for this application. The flatbed shall be attached to the truck frame with a minimum of 3 shear plates per side. Attached with a minimum of two 5/8 diameter grade eight bolts to the truck frame. Decking shall be fabricated of 3/16 steel diamond plate. The rear potion of the bed shall have a ¼ smooth steel plate welded to the bed measuring approximately 76 long x 96 wide. Additional bracing shall mounted underneath the flatbed. Exact location of the support bracing shall be determined at the pre-build meeting. 1/2 Rope hooks on all crossmembers. Steel inboard stake pockets on each side of the frame rail. These pockets shall be spaced to accommodate the side fence western gates. Furnish and install two (2) anti-sail mud flaps just behind rear dual wheels and tires. Furnish and install two (2) aluminum mud flaps just forward of the rear dual wheels and tires. A dock type bumper shall be fabricated and installed upon the rear of bed. It shall be fabricated using minimum 6 C channel type steel. This bumper shall meet or exceed OMCS code 393.86. The rear of the truck shall be equipped with a 2 tow receiver. A tow hook, Kerins K-300 Multi Hitch, 8 ton rated combination ball and pintle with square tube adapter, Kerins model K-650. This adapter shall be bolted to the K-300 hitch with grade 8 bolts, washers and nylok nuts. Ball shall be 2-5/16. Hitch height shall be set at 19 to center of ball. Rear hitch to include two D rings for attachment of trailer safety chains. The D rings shall be Fleet Engineers model # 982-00046, mounted one each side of pintle hook receiver. These rings shall hang from bottom of bumper into open air, swing type. There shall be a 7-pin electrical connector, Cole Hersee model # 12063-01 with split pin, flush mount in bumper, and protective boot number 11178, mounted 12 to the drivers side of the hitch on bumper. HEADBOARD: Furnish and install a 1/8 diamond plate headboard with cutout for rear window. Headboard shall be built to withstand heavy-duty use. Cutout shall be covered with a minimum ¾ #9 expanded metal. Headboard shall be full width of bed and be at least 2 above cab. Headboard shall be fully framed with heavy-duty 4 channels. Page 13 of 25

All sections shall be fabricated using 1 x 6 hardwood slats ( bottom slats to be two 1 x 6 = 12 high, steel stakes and western gate locks The western gate fences shall be mounted toward the front of flat bed. A horizontal pipe ½, (with ends flattened and welded to the steel stakes), shall act as lifting supports on the outside of each rack section. Fence shall be the same height as the headboard. The two front fences shall interlock with the headboard. CHAIN RAILING: A post and chain railing shall be installed around the center of the platform just behind the front western gates. The steel railing will be constructed of 1-1/2 square tubing and be 42 high in order to meet OSHA requirements. The ladder entrance areas shall be able to be closed off with a safety chain. SIDE LADDERS: Two fold-up ladders on each side of the bed. The ladders shall be capable of being locked in the down position and also have the capability of being locked in the up position. The step treads shall be fabricated from grip strut material. Both ladders shall have a threestep ladder, 16 wide, installed just behind the chain railing, around the center of the flat bed, passenger and driver side. Two steel grab handles shall be mounted above the ladders on the left and right side of the bed. Furnish and install one (1) fixed access ladder positioned to give access to the rear of bed. PLATFORM: There shall be a 2 x 8 platform of adequate height to facilitate loading of the kettles. TOOL BOXES: Furnish and install two (2) 48 x 18 x 18 steel tool box, (or as large as space permits) Box- Master weather proof style with lockable handle that a # five size Master padlock will fit. The toolbox shall be frame mounted to driver s and passenger side, just behind side ladders. Two ¼ holes for drainage in the bottom of each toolbox. Boxes to have door chains. Two (2) storage bins shall be install on the rear of the truck. One storage bin to be above the deck to the rear of the kettles and one to be bellow the deck between the frame rails at the rear of the deck. A Superior Signal model SY810LED, 55 long by 13 high with amber LED lamps shall be mounted just behind the kettles on a heavy-duty riser. This arrow board shall be raised approximately 48 high x 96 wide and be clearly visible from the rear of truck. Framing for the vertical uprights shall be a 2 x 2 x 1/4 steel square tubing. The horizontal cross bar shall also be 2 x 2 x ¼ steel square tubing. On the base of the vertical risers shall be a 2 ½ x 2 ½ x 3/16 square tube, approximately 12 high. The vertical tubes shall be inserted into this square tubing, welded to the floor board and welded to the vertical tubes. Controller for arrow board shall be mounted within easy reach of driver. Controller shall not be mounted on the floorboard of cab. Exact height of riser shall be determined at the prebid meeting. Controllers shall be controlled through the Diamond Logic switches. This switch shall be the first switch from the left and be labeled REAR ARROW BOARD. Arrow Board shall be protected through an appropriate size automatic circuit breaker. A second Superior Signal model SY810LED, 55 long by 13 high with amber LED lamps shall be mounted on top of the cab protector. This arrow board shall be raised so as to be visible from the front of the vehicle. Controller for arrow board shall be mounted within easy reach of driver. Controller shall not be mounted on the floor of cab. Exact height of riser shall be determined at the pre-bid meeting. Controller shall be controlled through the chassis factory Diamond Logic switches. This switch shall be the second switch from the left and be labeled FRONT ARROW BOARD. Arrow Board shall be protected through an appropriate size automatic circuit breaker. Furnish two Whelen model # L31HAF LED amber beacons with brush guard Whelen model #L360BGB mounted on the top corners of arrow board risers. Rear beacons shall be controlled through the chassis factory Diamond Logic switches. This switch shall be the third switch from the left and labeled REAR BEACONS. These beacon lights shall be protected through an appropriate size automatic circuit breakers. Furnish one Whelen model # L31HAF LED amber beacon with brush guard Whelen model #L360BGB mounted on top of the cab visible from the front, passenger and driver side. Front beacon shall be controlled through the chassis factory Diamond Logic switches. This switch shall be fourth from the left and labeled FRONT BEACON. Four work lights, 12 volt Betts model 805001 with clear flood bulb model 4466 shall be furnished and installed on the truck. The front work lights shall mounted on top of cab protector, outer front corners of the cab protector. The two rear work lights shall be mounted on the underside of rear beacon riser cross bar. The front work lights shall be controlled through the chassis factory Diamond Logic switches. This switch shall be the fifth switch from the left, labeled FRONT WORK LIGHTS. The rear work lights shall be controlled through the Diamond Logic switches. This switch shall be the sixth switch from the left and labeled REAR WORK LIGHTS. Additional turning indicators shall be mounted, one on each side of the bed, located at the lower front corners of the bed. These lights shall be Truck-Lite, Super 60 Page 15 of 25

These side light shall take the place of any OEM mounted side lights. The right turn signal shall be equipped with an audible alarm, Preco model # LDA50. This shall be accomplished by wiring the right turn audible alarm through the right front turn signal. Furnish and install a Provision back up camera model TV-505 A full system with 7 LCD color monitor, to allow the operator to see what is behind the vehicle. A 5-lb Amerex model 500 fire extinguisher with mounting bracket 861H shall be installed as close as possible to the driver s side door. The fire extinguisher shall be mounted so the control handle is toward the rear of the truck. Standard Brand first aid kit, model # 34-25PFG 1` mounted inside cab. Dietz 3-flare holder with 30 minute flares installed inside the cab near driver s compartment. Vehicle shall be equipped with a Preco back-up alarm model # 1060 bac-a-larm. A set of triangular hazard reflectors shall be furnished and installed, located behind the passenger seat. ATTENTION: All wiring to all electrical systems shall be routed through protective conduit and be weatherproof. Wiring shall have adequate protective covers wherever there is a possibility of contact with any other components. Separators shall be used where applicable. No tape or adhesive fasteners will be accepted. All wiring shall be routed to be clear of all heat sources and shall be protected from any present or potential source of snags, abrasions or sharp edges. All controls, control panels. warning gauges, and switches shall be marked as to function with stamped or engraved stainless steel or aluminum labels. All electrical loads shall be protected through automatic circuit breakers, appropriately sized to load and labeled as to function. Note: It shall be the responsibility of the successful bidder to communicate with the manufacture of all the electrical accessories and equipment being outfitted on the truck so that the appropriate wiring, connectors, switches, control panels, and circuit breakers can be determined. NOTE: See attached diagram for layout specifics. FINISH: The body shall be primed with a rust inhibitor and painted automotive type paint, gloss black in color. The entire understructure shall be undercoated. Before painting, all surfaces must be cleaned of rust, oil, grease, dirt, mills scales, other foreign materials. Page 16 of 25

Warranty shall commence when the City accepts delivery of vehicle. SECTION 4 THERMOPLASTIC KETTLES: The thermoplastic tank on the kettle shall be cylindrical in shape, vertically mounted, have a minimum capacity of 2000 pounds, and shall be capable of heating blocks and granulated thermoplastic. The kettles shall be bolted through the framing of the flatbed and chassis. The tanks shall be heated indirectly by a diesel fired gun type burner with a minimum rating of 250,000 BTU. There shall be an electric start to ignite the burners on the kettles. A hinge cover shall be placed in a position as to guard the diesel burner assemblies. This cover shall be hinged from the top, attached to the burner heat shield, fold down and latch to the top of the deck. Final design shall be approved at the first inspection trip. These kettles shall be mounted towards the rear on the deck of the flat bed truck, The transfer chute shall discharge thermoplastic towards the rear to the truck. The minimum length of the chutes shall be approximately 42 long and 32 from the end of chute to ground level. Exact dimensions shall be determined at the first inspection trip. Furnish and install a right angle 3 threaded male pipe on the output of the kettles. Furnish a Molasses valve, McMaster Carr 3 NPT female, part # 4580212, delivered loose. The burner shall be vented at the top of the kettle, each vent shall be provided with a rain cap to prevent rain from entering the heating chamber. Heat transfer shall be by #46 heat transfer oil contained by an insulated jacket surrounding the thermoplastic tank. The heat transfer fluid tank shall be equipped with a level indicator to indicate the proper level of the heat transfer oil and shall be properly vented to prevent pressure buildup. Agitator shall be driven by a hydraulic motor rotating a minimum of 30 RPM, a clearance between the agitator blades and the side of the tank not to be more than one-quarter (1/4) of an inch. Each agitator shall be equipped with two or more blades and reverse agitator. A flow control valve shall be provided to adjust the speed of the agitator without changing the speed of the engine. Direct reading thermometer to indicate the thermoplastic temperature shall be marked THERMOPLASTIC. Direct reading thermometer to indicate the heat transfer fluid temperature shall be marked HEAT TRANSFER FLUID. Burner shall be controlled by an adjustable temperature controller with a digital temperature readout of the heat transfer oil. Page 17 of 25

Extended handle on the discharge valve at least seven inches in length to facilitate operation from ground level. Discharges trough at least 24 inches in length. All controls for the auxiliary engine and the kettles shall be placed next to the ladder entrance on the curb side of the equipment deck as to be seen by the operator from ground level. Both kettles and auxiliary engine shall draw fuel from the chassis fuel tank. Plumbing shall meet or exceed all DOT & NFDA regulations. Both kettles and auxiliary engine shall operate a minimum single 12 hour work shift without refueling. All fittings, hoses, and fuel lines shall be routed through protective tubing and shall have adequate protective covers wherever there is a possibility of contact with any other components. All fuel lines shall be routed to be clear of all heat sources and be protected from any present or potential source of snags, abrasions or sharp edges. All fuel lines shall be securely fastened to chassis using heavy-duty type fasteners. AUXILIARY ENGINE: Shall be EPA certified 2008 Tier 4 diesel fueled engine, Yanmar model # 2TNV70-ASA rated at 13.7 HP, 23.8 ft-lb of torque @ 2600 RPM, four (4) cycle, water-cooled with sufficient horsepower to operate the agitator shall be furnish and installed or approved equal. This engine shall be Bio-Diesel B20 compatible. The engine shall be a volt system, equipped with an electric starter, approved air cleaner, muffler, 40 amp alternator, and a variable speed governor. Auxiliary engine shall be enclosed inside a open aired compartment, with the dimension approximately 26 wide x 90 long with enough height clearance for engine size. The top cover shall provide access to the engine compartment and have an automatic hold-open device(s). Cover shall be fully hinged with stainless steel piano hinge. Engine compartment shall be equipped with a hasp capable of accepting a #6 Master brand pad lock. The engine compartment shall be securely anchored to the sub-floor. The cover shall be made of heavy-duty diamond plate and have anti-skid material applied on the entire top surface of the engine cover. The front, left, and right sides of engine compartment shall be fabricated from # 9 expanded metal to allow air flow for the auxiliary engine. Framing shall be heavy-duty angle iron. Rear portion of engine compartment shall be a solid piece of diamond plate material. This engine compartment shall have the capacity to support two (2) 300-lb person. Exhaust fumes shall directed away from any work station area. Exact location of tail-pipe shall determined at the pre-bid meeting. Any exposed exhaust pipe that has the potential to come into contact with personnel or other areas of the truck shall be covered by a stainless steel shield. Page 18 of 25

Battery shall be isolated from chassis batteries. Battery shall be charge through the auxiliary engine alternator. Fuel supply to auxiliary engine shall be from the factory chassis fuel tank. Plumbing shall meet or exceed all DOT & NFDA regulations. All fittings, hoses, and fuel lines shall be routed through protective tubing and shall have adequate protective covers wherever there is a possibility of contact with any other components. All fuel lines shall be routed to be clear of all heat sources and be protected from any present or potential source of snags, abrasions or sharp edges. An in-line fuel filter shall be installed between the fuel tank and auxiliary engine, with a minimum micron rating of 10. This fuel filter shall be easily accessible for maintenance. All fuel lines shall be securely fastened to chassis using heavyduty type fasteners. Hydraulic pump shall be coupled directly to this engine, mounted under equipment deck. HYDRAULIC: The hydraulic system shall be a positive displacement pump. Furnish and install a directional control valve. Furnish and install an appropriate hydraulic pump that shall be rated to produce at least 1 ¼ the amount of flow and pressure required to power the agitators of both kettles. Furnish and install a hydraulic reservoir tank with enough capacity to operate the agitators. The fill orifice shall be clearly labeled in English as to the contents and type of hydraulic oil. The tank shall have a drain on the bottom of the tank that shall allow fluid to drain unobstructed to the ground. This drain plug shall have at least a ¾ plug. Tank exit line shall be controlled with a stainless steel ¼ turn type ball valve. Tank shall have a spin on/off type filter on the return side. The filter shall be isolated on both side of the filter housing with ¼ turn stainless steel ball type valve. The hydraulic tank shall have a site gauge for full fluid level, temperature and pressure gauge located adjacent to the hydraulic tank. All hydraulic hoses shall be machined crimped hose fittings. ELECTRIC HEATER: Overnight temperature maintenance shall be provided with an electric heater capable of maintaining the product at a minimum of 150ºF. Maximum power source for the electric heater shall not exceed 120 volts. MISCELLANEOUS: Kettles shall have adequate guards to cover moving parts. Vehicles shall have placard, stencils and decals indication potential hazards. Shall have easy access to service the battery, engine, hydraulic filter, and hydraulic reservoir. Page 19 of 25

Successful bidder shall provide a qualified instructor(s) to conduct training class(es) on the mechanical repairs of the Thermoplastic Kettles. This class shall be for a minimum of one (1) 8 hour work day for two (2) City of San Francisco mechanical personnel. Training shall take place at a City specified location. MANUALS: Two (2) complete set of operator s, repair, and parts manual shall be supplied with the completed unit upon delivery. These manuals shall include all hydraulic and electric diagrams. Complete set of manuals for the auxiliary engine shall also be supplied. WARRANTY: The auxiliary engine, hydraulic system, and kettles shall be warranted for a period of one (1) year, parts and labor with no deduction. This warranty shall commence when the City accepts delivery of vehicle. PAINT: All exposed metal surface shall be cleaned and prepared to be primed with a rust and heat preventative and finished in a high heat resistant paint. DOCUMENTATION: Bidders shall provide with their bid response: Detailed concept installation drawing of the proposed installation, and stability calculation using the Trailer Win software program and detailed weight distribution.
