High Performance Environmentally responsible Lubricants

BIOSTAT BIOBAR BIOTRANS BIOTAC The language of green Toxicity the ability of a substance to cause harmful effect across the marine food chain including algae, crustaceans and fish. Bioaccumulation the accumulation of substances within an organism.

To you, it s where you operate your business; To the planet, it s a precious environment Never has the marine industry been under greater social, moral and legislative pressure to minimise the impact of its activities on its environment: the seas and oceans of the world. As a result of normal ship operations it is inevitable that significant volumes of oil lubricants find their way into the Marine Environment. Although much of this comes from machinery spaces a significant proportion comes from stern tube leakage and deck machinery. Responsible ship operators, port authorities and regulators are embracing more environmentally responsible lubricants to mitigate the environmental impact of leakage. Marine are foremost in the delivery of advanced, high performance green lubricants. The pressure of legislation Regulatory authorities around the world are enforcing legislation that regulates the release of oil and chemicals into the marine environment. MARPOL 73/78 (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships) sets the standard in marine environmental legislation around the world. Now, more and more regional, national and port regulations are also coming into effect such as reduced port fees for Green Ships. Enhance your competitive position Oil companies, vehicle manufactures and cruise tour operators are just some of the many customers of the Marine Industry who are demanding higher levels of environmental responsibility from their carriers above and beyond that required by legislation. The use of environmentally responsible lubricants can be a valuable asset in enhancing and promoting your companies green credentials to your customers. the business impact of oil leakage Your operations may be suspended You may be fined You will have to deal with time consuming paperwork and investigations Your reputation may be damaged Your relationship with your customers may be harmed

Protecting your vessel and the environment BioStat Stern Tube/Gear Oils BioStat is available in the following ISO viscosity grades 68cSt, cst, 22cSt Environmental Performance Low toxicity Low bioaccumulation 8% of the raw materials used in the BioStat range are derived from renewable resources

OPERATIONAL BENEFITS Excellent gear oil performance easily exceeds FZG 12 gear benchmark and meets the highest level micro pitting gear test requirements Extremely versatile as a stern tube and gear oil and provides high level of protection to heavily loaded bearings and gears For stern tube applications BioStat provides effective lubrication with up to 2% water contamination thus providing far greater protection than conventional mineral oils Lower friction coefficient more energy efficient Excellent wear and corrosion protection, and oxidation stability providing long term machinery protection and extended oil life Miscible and compatible with: - Other oils - Seals and paints - Filters All products supported by major OEMs Meets all relevant performance specifications Service Benefits (Results below for BioStat 68) 14 12 8 6 4 2 Gear Performance (FZG Failure Stage) System oil Stern tube lubricant BioStat System oil Stern tube lubricant BioStat Friction Coefficient (Energy Saving)..5..15 High energy saving Low energy saving Gear Performance (Micropitting Resistance) Water Tolerance 2% 8 6 4 2 15% % 5% System oil Stern tube lubricant BioStat % System oil Stern tube lubricant BioStat

Protecting your vessel and the environment BioBar Hydraulic Oils BioBar is available in the following ISO viscosity grades 32cSt, 46cSt, 68cSt, cst Environmental Performance Low toxicity Lower bioaccumulation More than 3% of the raw materials used in the BioBar range are derived from renewable resources

Protecting your vessel and the environment BIOTRANS Gear Oils BioTrans is available in the following ISO viscosity grades 15cSt, 22cSt Environmental Performance Low toxicity Low bioaccumulation More than 3% of the raw material used in the BioTrans range are derived from renewable resources

OPERATIONAL BENEFITS Exceptional gear oil performance provides high levels of gear protection to maximise reliability and minimise maintenance costs Approvals from key OEMs for clutch compatibility Excellent wear, corrosion protection, and oxidation stability providing long term machinery protection and extended oil life High viscosity index and lower pour point allows start-ups at low temperatures and provides for a thicker lubricating film at high temperatures for additional anti-wear protection Miscible and compatible with: - Other oils - Seals and paints - Filters All products supported by major OEMs Meet all relevant performance specifications Service Benefits Clutch compatibility Approved by major marine OEMs Viscosity in cst BioTrans Viscosity - Temperature Curve 4. 35. 3. 25. 2. 15.. 5.. -2 2 4 6 Temperature in ºC BioTrans 15 Conventional gear lubricant 8 15 PAO synthetic gear oils Mineral gear oils BioTrans Friction Coefficient (Energy Saving).5.1.15 High energy saving Low energy saving

Protecting your vessel and the environment BIOTAC EP2 Grease ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE Biodegradability BioTac EP2 is formulated with a base oil which is readily biodegradable based on the OECD 31B method. It is biodegradable under favourable environmental conditions -biodegradable (> 8%) in OECD 31B, minimising potential environmental harm. OPERATIONAL BENEFITS Service Benefits Excellent resistance against water spray off reducing the need for frequent application Good pumpability at low temperatures with operating temperature range from -35 to 12 C providing excellent lubrication over a wide range of climatic conditions Excellent load carrying capacity and anticorrosion properties protecting equipment and reducing costs Fully compatible with normal sealing materials, as well as mineral oil based greases Load-kg Water Spray-off Resistance on Comparitive Greases (Test: ASTM D449) Sulphonate Complex Lithium Complex BioTac EP2 Extreme Pressure properties of Comparitive Greases (Test: Timkin OK Load test IP 326) 6 5 4 3 2 2 3 4 5 6 Long term protection Loss % wt Short term protection Sulphonate Complex Lithium Complex BioTac EP2

Compounds accumulate in living things when they are taken up and stored faster than they are broken down or excreted. Standard test methods for bioaccumulation OECD 117 measures the build up of organic chemicals. Chemicals with molecular weight > 7 classified as non-bio accumulating.
