Installation Precautions Installation Precautions: (VERY important) It is important to take some precautions before downloading, changing settings, or returning to stock. These precautionary steps to installing the Triple Dog will help ensure that downloads are successful. 1. Before installation, always update the Triple Dog online using our Update Agent. The Triple Dog is an online program that loads the latest vehicle programs from our web site to the Triple Dog. 2. Only install during regular business hours. (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Mountain Standard Time) 3. Do not install while the vehicle is in a remote location or when the vehicle is immediately needed for transportation. In the unlikely event that installation fails, the installer may need resources such as computer access and internet access to complete installation. 4. Allow up to one hour for installation. The Triple Dog easily installs in under 30 minutes. However, allocate at least an hour for installation in case any problems are encountered during installation. 5. Before installation, always make sure that the batteries have a full charge. It is even a good idea to have a battery charger nearby in case the batteries start draining. If the batteries loose their charge during a download, the download will fail. 6. Before installation, turn off all electronics inside the vehicle including: headlights, heater, air conditioning, stereo, any DVD players, etc. Failing to turn off all electronics may can prevent a successful download. 7. Before installation always pull all of the recommended fuses seen in the section labeled Fuse information, in this instruction manual. 8. During installation it is very important that the Triple Dog is not disrupted. If the download is disrupted the vehicle may not start and the download process must be restarted. In worst case scenarios the Triple Dog will have to perform a recovery process which adds even more time to the installation process. The information above is extremely important to successful use of the Triple Dog IMPORTANT It is not recommended that this product be used in conjunction with any other electronic module or downloader that is intended to increase horsepower. Performance products must always be removed before taking the vehicle in for any kind of service. The Bully Dog software will be lost if an OEM scan tool is used to reflash the engine computer. 6

Transmission Tuning (ford 6.0L only) Controllable only within the on-the-fly menu, after the on-the-fly programming has been downloaded. The downloader offers 3 different transmission tuning options to facilitate added horsepower and to make the driving experience more enjoyable. The descriptions below offer our recommendations of use with each of the three different options. Once a download has been entered, these transmission tunes are adjustable on-the-fly. Aggressive: For quick and firm shifts. The firmness and quickness of shifts will increase significantly over stock. This application works well with high performance aftermarket transmissions. We do not recommend that this application be used while towing. Smooth: For the non-aggressive every day driver or those who tow on a regular basis. This application is most effective when used with our power settings set from 50 to 80. Stock: As more horsepower is added to a normal shifting stock transmission, the internal components break down faster. Not recommended with any of the power settings above 50 additional horsepower. Changing Download Settings/ Returning To stock settings: To return the vehicle to stock or to change any of the download settings: Engine Tune, Speed Limiter, or Tire Size follow the steps below. 1. Other Options Other Options The Other Options menu item contains a sub menu with three different options depending on the vehicle applications. It contains DTC functions which will read DTCs off of the vehicle computer and erase them. It will also for certain applications contain a DPF burn-off feature for GM and Dodge vehicles that have a diesel particulate filter. The descriptions below describe each menu item and function in detail. DTCs or diagnostic trouble codes are warnings saved on the engine computer that generally point to a particular malfunction in the vehicle. DTCs are an excellent method of diagnosing a vehicle, in fact this method is used by the OEM. Check DTCs: This function will look for any diagnostic trouble codes stored in the engine computer and will display all of the codes on the Triple Dog screen. Notice that most codes are accompanied by a description of the code. The diagram below illustrates the checking DTCs process. Start by selecting Check DTCs from the Other Options menu. After that follow the screen prompts until the DTC Menu displays all of the DTCs on the vehicle. DTC MENU Turn ignition key to RUN position. do not start engine. DTC Menu NO DTC TO CLEAR Turn the key to the run position and wait for the downloader to establish communication. Once the DTCs have been checked and are displayed on the screen they can be erased within this function by pressing Y. Press N to exit into the main menu. Erase DTCs: This function will simply erase whatever DTCs are found on the vehicle computer without displaying any of the DTCs on the screen. The diagram at left illustrates the Erasing DTCs process screen by screen. DTC MENU Turn ignition key to RUN position. do not start engine. DPF Burn-off (GM 6.6L Duramax 07.5-09 only): This function should only be used if the Diesel Particulate Filter is full and is not self regenerating. If this seams to be a reocurring issue it is recommended that the Triple Dog is removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is taken into the dealer for service. On this screen, scroll down to view all DTCs. Press Y to erase the DTCs, Press N to exit back into the main menu without erasing the codes. Turn the key to the run position and wait for the downloader to establish communication. Choosing this function will automatically erase the DTCs on the vehicle and then exit directly back into the Main Menu. Mobile Desoot 50%!!! WARNING!!! Agree to the disclaimer to activate re-gen. 19
