From the command post Hope you all survived the holidays because we are starting 2019 with a large dose of optimism. This year we know the Denver Auto Show is coming and we can prepare and plan. Last year we made a good showing on some last minute planning - we gave back show space in the end equal to two M-35s. Our strength was that we appealed to a wide range of people and we were something different. People who would never own a Lamborghini had experienced a M-35, and here it was at the Denver Auto Show. We brought class to the event... I disagree with our editor on the cover photo selection - Morgan s Misfits braving the Loveland Veteran s Day Parade is my choice. Evidently the convoy back from the parade was the biggest adventure - seven miles of back roads and half tracks do slide on ice. The MVCC was represented at Colorado Springs Parade by Jill Czarnowski Large Marge, Frank Scholer Grim Reaper, Jay Bennett Damn Yankee, an M-37 and a M38A1. The Denver Veteran s Day Parade faced no obstacles, had good weather, and were was well attended - good cheer was had at Brooklyn s afterward. 2

The Denver Auto Show certainly made me feel like we were playing with the big boys. Jerry Cleveland did a write up for the MVPA s Supply Line of the Denver Auto Show that didn t get published but should have. One event that I covered was Eric Englehard s BBQ to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of his company. This was one massive feed with a lamb roast and a bon fire visible from I-25. Eric voiced some disappointment that no MVCC members showed up to play on his land. I did get a 4
quick tour of Eric s MV collection, see pages 6 and 7. This Veteran s Day was something like Halloween; I had on my jungle fatigues for the whole week visiting area schools and the Denver Veteran s Day Parade. Phil & Jane Curry, Mike Meier and Mike Herbertson did Veteran s Day duty at Parker Core Knowledge Carter School. I am certain other MVCC members made vehicle appearances too. MVCC participated in the Loveland, Colorado Springs and Denver Veteran s Day Parades. Creating a Vietnam Tribute Gun Truck is continued in this issue; thanks again to Frank Scholer for his write up. 5 WE ARE ALL PUSHING FOR THE DENVER AUTO SHOW
