Project description A1 Bucharest Pitesti is the first Romanian highway120 km The ITS system deployed in Romania is the first ITS project meant to test the ITS technologies and harmonization of services at European road network level. It includes two services: traffic and road infrastructure monitoring; information for road users concerning traffic and road conditions.

Monitoring CCTV system with PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) cameras; Video automatic incident detection system; Video based traffic counting; Traffic counting & vehicle classification (inductive loops based) Traffic counting & classification with infrared and ultrasound technologies; Traffic counting & classification with radar technology; High speed weigh in motion system; Weather and pavement data collection stations; License plate recognition system with vignette enforcement system.

Information system and accessories Information system LED displays 3 pcs. grafic +text Short term weather forecast software -installed in Control centre -provides weather data collection -provides short term weather forecast DATEX 2 Interfaces Traffic and Travel Information System -24 hours a day, real time, graphical interface presenting the Level of Services, the Map of crowded areas, Alerts, other trafficrelated information.

ITS System extension on A2 highway The A2 highway, nicknamed The Sun Highway which links Bucharest to Constanţa, a city-port at the Black Sea shore.
