English Keepower 12V battery charger!! Safety instructions BATTERY CHARGER FOR 12V LEAD ACID BATTERIES Before charging, please read this guide instruction. Protect charger from moisture and keep dry. 1 230V ~ 2 Risk of explosion! Avoid fire, open flame and sparks. Turn off the charger before attaching and removing the charging clamps. the battery terminal not connected to the chassis has to be connected first. The other connection is to be made to the chassis, remote from the battery and fuel line. The battery charger is then to be connected to the supply mains; after charging, disconnect the battery charger from the supply mains. Then remove the chassis connection and then the battery connection. Battery acid is highly corrosive. Acid on the clothes should be rinsed off immediately in running water. Acid on the skin or in the eyes, rinse thoroughly in running water and contact a doctor. A battery produces explosive gases during charging and good ventilation should therefore be ensured if charging takes place indoors. The charger have to be placed upright on a solid surface or hanged on the wall with the possibility for good ventilation. The charger may not be covered or exposed to direct sunlight. The battery manufacturer advices have to be followed carefully. The charger can only be used for rechargeable lead/acid batteries. Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries. The charging wires can only be changed to other keepower wires. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by authorised shop. Repair of the charger may only be done by an authorised shop. The charger is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the charger by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Battery charger set-up The battery charger can be set up in 4 different positions: Keepower 12V Keepower 12V As a stationary unit As a mobile unit As a device hanging on an edge. As a device on the wall
Battery types The Keepower 12V battery charger can be used for all 12 volt lead-acid battery types. These include standard batteries, maintenance-free batteries, VRLA (valve-regulated lead-acid batteries), AGM and most GEL types. The Keepower 12V battery charger can be used to charge batteries from 1.2 Ah to 32 Ah and for trickle (maintenance) charging of batteries with up to 100 Ah. the battery Connect the clamps to the battery. Red to + terminal Black to - terminal Connect to mains supply and switch on. begins automatically and yellow LED illuminates during charging. The battery is fully charged and ready for operation when the green LED illuminates. The Keepower 12V battery charger can be continuously connected to the battery. It is recommended that the acid level in the battery are checked at regular intervals. Before disconnection. Switch off mains supply. Unplug the charger. Remove the clamps. How is the battery charged? Battery charging occurs in four phases. 1) The first part of the charging procedure is realised with a constant current of 0.8 A until the voltage on the battery reaches 14.4 V. The battery is then charged to about 85% of its full capacity. 2) The charging current drops slowly as soon as the voltage of 14.4 V is achieved, with the voltage being maintained at 14.4 V. is terminated as soon as the charging current has dropped to 0.25A. The battery is now fully charged. 3) The battery voltage is monitored in phase three. This status can endure for a very long time, depending on the quality and age of the battery. This period of time is reduced accordingly if, for example, electronic components are active in the vehicle (a clock or alarm system). 4) The trickle charging mode commences operation if the voltage drops below 12.6 V. The battery is charged up to 14.4 V in this fourth phase. The third phase (voltage monitoring) is activated once again as soon as the battery is fully charged. This sequence continues for as long as the charger is connected to the battery. The battery charger can be continuously connected.
Use of eyelet connector: Connect the red cable to the plus pole on the battery and the black cable to the minus pole. The Keepower 12V battery charger can then be connected via the adapter for charging. The cable to the adapter then remains permanently on the battery. It is recommended that the dummy connector be fitted if the battery is not being charged to avoid any contact between the sleeve and vehicle chassis. Error indicator Constant light, when: Clamps are wronly polarized. Maintenance Clean the battery charger with a clean cloth. Do not use flowing water or cleaning agents containing solvents! The battery charger should only be repaired by an authorised workshop. This also applies to replacement of the battery cables. Guarantee Please retain your purchasing receipt. Contact a dealer should problems arise with the battery charger.
