Operator Safety Read these safety rules and follow them closely. ailure to obey these rules could result in loss of control of unit, severe personal injury or death to you, or bystanders, or damage to property or equipment. The triangle in text signifies important cautions or warnings which must be followed. General Warnings Know the unit s controls and how to stop quickly. R TH OPRTOR S MNULS. Read and obey all safety decals. Only allow responsible adults, who are familiar with the instructions, to operate the unit. isengage the PTO. Shut off the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop before attaching, adjusting, or disconnecting any part of the collection system. heck the collection system to make sure it is bolted tightly to the unit. O NOT operate the unit without either the entire grass catcher or the deflector in place. Turn off the PTO to disengage the blades when not mowing. O NOT mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary. lways look down and behind before and while travelling in reverse. O NOT turn sharply when travelling alongside a building or any object. Slow down before turning. O NOT carry passengers. When collection system is removed from the mower deck, the deflector must be properly installed. ollector bags are subject to deterioration and wear during normal use. Inspect the bag periodically for tears, holes, or weak spots and replace with a new bag that meets manufacturer s durability standards. or added stability and to prevent tipping or loss of control: a. Use reduced speed on uneven ground and when turning corners. b. Reduce loads on hillsides. It is recommended that the collection system be kept only half full when negotiating any slopes. Start mowing on slopes when the collection system is empty. c. Mow up and down the face of slopes; never across the face of any slope. Never operate on slopes greater than 17.6% (10 ). Safety ecals Several safety labels are installed on the unit to remind you of important information while you are operating your unit. ll NGR, WRNING, UTION and instructional messages on your rider, attachments and mower should be carefully read and obeyed. Personal bodily injury can result when these instructions are not followed. The safety decals below are on your product. If any decals are lost or damaged, replace them at once. See your local dealer for replacements. ssembly G H igure 1 WRNING: efore beginning any service work turn off the PTO, set the parking brake, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the spark plug wire(s). affle and lade Installation Note: Units with an anti-blowout baffle do not require the lean Sweep baffle. 1. Remove mower deck.see Operator s manual. 2. Install notched side of baffle (, igure 1) to discharge side of deck securing with 5/16-18 x 2 carriage bolt () and 5/16-18 locknut ().Install 5/16-18 wing nut () and locknut (G) to carriage bolt () as shown. 3. Secure center of baffle () to deck using 5/16-18 x 2 carriage bolt (), spacer () and nut ().Secure LH end of baffle to deck using 5/16-18 x 5/8 carriage bolt () and nut (). 4. Remove right hand blade (, igure 2).Use a block of wood (igure 2) to prevent blade rotation while loosening the capscrew. 5. Position cover (H, igure 1) and new blade from kit (I) as shown. 6. Reinstall the large washer, spring washer (K) and capscrew (L). Use a wooden block (igure 3) to prevent blade rotation while tightening the capscrew to 45-55 ft.lbs.(61-75 Nm). 5 igure 2 igure 3 LOOSN I J K L

ssembly Install Mounting Plates and Spacers 1. Mount the side brackets (, igure 4) to both sides of the frame using the holes shown. Secure with one 3/8-16 x 1 capscrew (), 3/8 lockwasher (), and 3/8-16 nut () per side. Hitch and rame ssembly 1. Install the bag and cover support (, igure 6) to upright support () using 3/8-16 x 1 capscrews () and 3/8-16 locknuts () as shown. igure 4 2. Install the rear spacers (, igure 5).Secure with two 1/2-13 x 2-1/2 capscrews (), washers (G), and 1/2-13 nylock nuts (H) per side. ssembly 3. ttach cover assembly (G, igure 8) to cover support (H) using hinge pivots (I). Secure cover using hinge pins (J) and hair pins (K) as shown. G I igure 8 Install Lower hute omponents 1. Secure the puck (, igure 9) to lower chute () using 5/16-18 x 3/4 capscrew () and 5/16-18 locknut (). 2. Install bracket () and deflector prop (G) to lower chute using 5/16-18 x 3/4 capscrews () and 5/16-18 locknuts (). J K H K J I Install Lower hute 1. Lift discharge deflector (, igure 10). 2. Slide the notch of bracket (G) on to deflector hinge rod (). 3. Secure the front of lower chute () to carriage bolt () using wing nut () and locknut (). Note: Locknut is intended to keep wing nut on carriage bolt if permanent installation is desired. G J K G igure 9 igure 10 7

Operation ollector Installation 1. Slide discharge tube (, igure 11) into seal ().It may be necessary to lengthen several slits in the seal to permit proper fit. 2. ttach the discharge tube to lower chute () and secure by moving wire form () down over metal puck (), see inset. igure 11 ttach ollector ags 1. Raise the cover (, igure 12). 2. ttach collector bags () using grass bag hanger () to bag hanger post (). Note: It may be necessary to fold seat forward to allow cover to stay in the raised position. igure 12 8

Operation efore Operation lear the lawn of all sticks, stones, wire and other debris which may be caught or thrown by the mower blades. heck grass condition. If wet, wait until later in the day. If grass is wet, the grass catcher is likely to become plugged. or efficient bagging, air circulation under the mower deck, through the chute and into the bag is very important. or this reason, OR YOU GIN MOWING you should make certain the underside of the mower and the underside of the catcher lid are free from grass and debris. Make sure that there is a snug fit between mower deck, blower housing, tubes, and grass catcher cover. Mowing with the atcher lways operate with throttle at full speed when mowing. Grass should be cut often, and not too short. If grass is too long or lush it may be necessary to keep ground speed to a minimum or to cut only half the width of the mower to prevent clogging. If grass is long, operate with mower in high cutting position for first pass, cutting again in a lower position on a second pass. o not open the cover with mower engaged. If a large amount of cut grass is spilling out from under deck, the tube may be plugged or the bags may be full discontinue mowing, stop the unit, disengage the PTO, shut off the engine and then empty the catcher or clear the tube. WRNING: LWYS shut off the tractor. isengage the PTO, and allow all moving parts to stop OR disconnecting or clearing tube, or emptying catcher. efore leaving the operator s position for any reason, engage the parking brake, disengage the PTO, stop the engine and remove the key. To reduce fire hazard, keep the engine, rider and mower free of grass, leaves and excess grease. o not stop or park rider over dry leaves, grass or combustible materials. fter Operation Remove any debris from the screen on the underside of the lid. The blower housing and tube should be removed for cleaning. Inspect the grass bags for wear or damage. Make sure that there is a snug fit between mower deck, blower housing, tubes, and grass catcher cover. UTION: o not leave grass in bagger containers. mpty containers after each use and before storing. ailure to do so may result in spontaneous combustion which could develop into a fire. Operation ollector Removal UTION: Operation Without agger or operation without bagger, the mower deflector MUST be properly installed in the down position and retained by the spring latch. 1. Lift up cover ( igure 13), then remove and empty bags (). 2. isconnect the discharge tube () from lower chute () by moving wire form () up and out from metal puck (G). Remove discharge tube from seal (H). 3. Remove hitch and frame assembly () from rear of tractor. 4. Lift discharge deflector (I). Loosen wing nut (J). 5. Slide lower chute () off carriage bolt (K) and deflector hinge rod (L). Improper Maintenance or Repair - This product must be maintained according to the procedures and schedules provided in the Operator s Manual, and serviced or repaired using genuine riggs & Stratton parts or equivalent. amage caused by lack of maintenance or use of non-original parts is not covered by warranty. Normal Wear and Tear - Like most mechanical devices, your unit is subject to wear even when properly maintained. This warranty does not cover repairs when normal use has exhausted the life of a part or the equipment. Maintenance and wear items such as filters, belts, cutting blades, and brake pads (except engine brake pads) are not covered by warranty due to wear characteristics alone, unless the cause is due to defects in material or workmanship. Other xclusions - This warranty excludes damage due to accident, abuse, modifications, alterations, improper servicing, freezing or chemical deterioration. ttachments or accessories that were not originally packaged with the product are also excluded. This warranty does not include used, reconditioned, second-hand, or demonstration equipment or engines. This warranty also excludes failures due to acts of God and other force majeure events beyond the manufacturer s control. 11
