When the spindle is pressed in, the valve is losed. The diretion of flow on the valve must be onsidered, as it may only be used in the diretion of losure against the pressure. The flow parameters orrespond to EN 60534. Closing proedure against the pressure These valves are used for great differential pressures, and thanks to the pressure ompensation standard atuators an be used. The valve spindle is automatially and firmly onneted to the atuator spindle. The plug has a piston form. Depending on the nominal diameter, the upstream pressure is direted to the rear side of the plug via two or more holes in the plug. The fores ating on the plug are relieved up to the area of the spindle surfae. The pressure-relieved plug is also sealed against the outlet. This design means there is very little flow in the pressure relief area. This minimises the risk that pressure relief is impaired by dirt. The stuffing box is maintenane-free. Two slightly tapered flat seals are inserted between an FKM seal and a spring. The spring ensures permanent tension on the seals, thus guaranteeing that they are leaktight against the spindle. In addition, a glyerine grease reserve ensures that the spindle is onstantly lubriated. The glyerine grease reserve also stops partiles that are present in the medium from penetrating to the PTFE seal. 2/9 Right of amendment reserved 2017 Fr. Sauter AG

Intended use This produt is only suitable for the purpose intended by the manufaturer, as desribed in the Desription of operation setion. All related produt regulations must also be adhered to. Changing or onverting the produt is not admissible. Engineering and fitting notes The valves are ombined with the AVM 322(S) or AVM 234S valve atuators without a spring return or with the AVF 234S or AVN 224S valve atuators with a spring return. The atuator is mounted diretly on the valve and fastened with srews. The atuator is onneted with the valve spindle automatially. When the system is ommissioned, the AVM 322(S), AVM 234S and AVF 234S atuator moves out and the onnetor automatially loses when it reahes the valve spindle. The stroke of the valve is also deteted by the atuator, and no further adjustments are required. The fore-based ut-off in the atuator always ensures that leakage is kept to a minimum. With the SUT valve atuators, the harateristi, whih starts as equal-perentage, an be set to linear or quadrati as required. When using AVN 224S valve atuators, the atuator must be initialised manually. For a more detailed desription, see PDS 51.379 Initialisation and feedbak signal. Condensate, drops of water, et. must be prevented from entering the atuator. With horizontal installation and no strutural support for the atuator, the maximum admissible weight on the valve is 25 kg. Up to 130 C: In any position exept suspended. Over 130 C: At temperatures of over 130 C or over 180 C, a horizontal fitting position is reommended, and the appropriate adapter for the temperature must be used. The adapter an also be used as an extension to ome out of the pipe insulation with the atuator. To protet the atuator from exessive heat, the piping must be insulated. When the atuator is mounted on the valve, make sure the plug is not twisted on the seat (this an damage the sealing surfae). When insulating the valve, it may only be insulated up to the onneting lip of the atuator. Using with steam The valves an be used for steam appliations up to 200 C with the same p max values as listed in the ombination tables. When using the valve, make sure that it does not operate mainly on the lower third of its stroke range. This position leads to an extremely high flow speed, whih greatly redues the servieable life of the valve. Using with water So that impurities are retained in the water (welding beads, rust partiles, et.) and the spindle seal is not damaged, we reommend installing olleting filters, for example one for eah floor or pipe run. When using an additive in the water, the ompatibility of the valve materials must be heked with the manufaturer of the medium. The materials table shown below may be used. When using glyol we reommend a onentration between 20% and 55%. Approval for DIN EN 14597 The valves an be used together with the AVN 224S valve atuator with emergeny funtion as per DIN EN 14597. Other information regarding hydraulis and noise in systems The valves an be used in a low-noise environment. To prevent noise, the pressure differenes p listed below should not be exeeded. These are listed as reommended values in the table of pressure losses. The pressure differene p v is the maximum pressure that may at on the valve regardless of the stroke position, in order that the risk of avitation and erosion is limited. These values are irrespetive of the atuator fore. Cavitation aelerates wear and auses noises. To prevent avitation, the differential pressure on the valve should not exeed the value p rit : p rit = (p1 - pv) x 0.5 p1 = upstream pressure before the valve (bar) p v = steam pressure at operating temperature (bar) The alulation works with absolute pressure. For the spring return, the stated p s values are also the permissible differential pressure up to whih the atuator an guarantee that the valve is losed in the event of an inident. With this parameter, the valve is haraterised as a flow element with speifi hydrauli behaviour. Monitoring the avitation and erosion along with the assoiated noise inreases the servie life and the operational apaity. p max : Maximum admissible pressure differene over the valve at whih the atuator an reliably open and lose the valve. The following are onsidered: Stati pressure and flow effets. This value ensures trouble-free stroke movement and losing of the valve. The value p v of the valve is never exeeded. p s : Maximum admissible pressure differene over the valve in the event of a malfuntion (e.g. power failure, exessive temperature or pressure, pipe break) at whih the atuator an lose the valve tightly and, if neessary, maintain the entire operating pressure against atmospheri pressure. Beause this is a safety funtion with a rapid stroke movement, p s an be greater than p max or p v. The disruptive flow effets that arise here are quikly passed through and are of minor importane in this method of operation. For 3-way valves, the values only apply to the ontrol passage. p stat : Line pressure behind the valve. This essentially orresponds to the idle pressure when the pump is swithed off, aused for example by the fluid level in the system, inreased pressure due to pressure tanks, steam pressure, et.
