Please feel free to contact your service advisor if you have any questions or concerns. We will do everything we can to put your mind at ease and keep you and your family safe on the road. How we give you "Peace of Mind..." To help you understand what your vehicle needs to stay in top operating condition, we: Perform a world class visual inspection on your vehicle every visit Review your vehicle's maintenance schedules and search our extensive database to uncover anything we believe you should know about your vehicle based on its odometer reading and time on the road Make recommendations and complete a Treatment Plan for your vehicle Offer a complete easy to read and understand report that enables you to make an educated decision for your vehicle's service needs. Items on the report will be classified as follows: Pass - Items are new or "like new" and do not require service at this time Caution - Items that are dirty or showing signs of wear and would benefit from being serviced soon Fail - Items that have either worn below minimum specifications or are no longer doing what it was designed to do and need to be repaired immediately DISCLAIMER; Addressing any identified issues listed by the report, should improve the safety and performance of your vehicle. However, please remember that the inspection is limited to a visual inspection of the items listed on the report without disassembling or test driving your vehicle. Therefore, it is not possible for the technician to see or identify all potential defects, especially those that are internal to the engine, transmission, driveline, electrical system or other components. The cleanliness of the vehicle both inside and out at the time of the actual inspection may reduce the accuracy of the inspection. Your vehicle may have conditions that are not evident at the time of the inspection or otherwise not presented or noticed during the inspection process. Therefore, the inspection and condition report does not provide any guarantee or warranty that the vehicle will not break down in the future, or have conditions that were undetected during the inspection or were omitted from the report. 2

Additional Information Below is information we feel would help you better understand some of the reasons for taking preventive maintenance steps -- steps that help to ensure the reliability and safety of your vehicle for you and your family. ** The following section may contain instructions for servicing various components of your vehicle. These are an overview of the process that will be performed by a skilled technician in our shop. They are not intended to be a guide for a do-it-yourself operation. Power steering fluid exchange service One of our skilled technicians with specialized equipment will use a powerful cleaner to dissolve and suspend the varnish and gums in your vehicle s power steering unit and then flush the entire unit of all old fluid and contaminants and install new high-tech fluid for both conventional sector and rack and pinion. Finally, the technician will road test your vehicle. If you have experienced steering pump noises, hard or erratic steering, or pump leaks, it's probably time to have your vehicle s power steering system serviced. The power steering pump produces high pressures (between 800 2,000 lbs./400 1 000 kg, depending on model) and high heat. Heat + pressure = fluid breakdown/failure; fluid failure = power steering pump and/or rack failure; power steering pump and/or rack failure = costly repair. AI-98 Power steering spool valve with hardened cracked seals Our power steering service will alleviate steering squeal caused by sticking valves, correct that jerky feeling on the steering wheel, help prevent fluid leaks, and reduce wear. Grooves worn into the housing by hardened seals 6

Windshield wiper blade replacement Remove the wiper blade inserts from the wiper arms following the vehicle manufacturer's instructions (found in the owner's guide). Install new wiper blade inserts onto the wiper arms. Thoroughly clean the windshield. The ability to drive safely interests all of us. Having a clean windshield is a necessity for safe driving. Most driving decisions are dependent on the driver having a clear view of the road ahead. Worn or torn wiper blades do not effectively clean the windshield, and a dirty windshield can obstruct the drivers view, possibly resulting in an accident. AI-147 Impaired view from worn wiper blades Most wiper blade manufacturers recommend replacing your wiper blades or wiper blade inserts every 6 months or 6,000 miles. Something as simple and as inexpensive as replacing your windshield wiper blades will make your driving experience for you and your family a safer one. Battery charge Depending upon the design of the car, our technician may have to remove the battery. He attaches the battery charger s leads to the terminals of the battery and adjusts the settings of the charger to match those of your vehicle's battery. He will give the battery a full charge, test to ensure that the battery is good and will hold the charge, then re-install the battery (if applicable). Weather and your driving habits have an effect on your car s battery. A battery that isn t charged can leave you stranded, which is at least inconvenient, and potentially unsafe. New wiper blades AI-162 Technician charging an under hood mounted battery in the car For your convenience, safety, and peace of mind, make sure that your battery is in top condition. A fully-charged battery helps ensure that your vehicle will be ready for you when you are ready for it. Technician re-installing trunk mounted battery after charging 7

Coolant fluid exchange service Some coolant may be in such poor condition that a coolant flush is necessary to remove the corrosion and deposits that were created in the engine and the radiator. If so, an approved coolant removal and cycling machine is required for this procedure. Our trained technician will connect the vehicle to a state-of-the-art machine and add a cleaner to safely remove rust, sludge and scale deposits. Once the system has been cleaned, the technician will install a new coolant-and-water mix, along with a conditioner to protect the cooling system. Once this is finished, the engine will be allowed to run until it reaches normal operating temperature and then the fluid will be checked and adjusted if necessary. The engine s coolant pulls the heat from the engine and then dissipates the heat when it enters the radiator. The engine's cooling system is a complex system comprised of many components and materials. The most common materials used are aluminum, plastic, copper, brass, rubber, and steel. The engine coolant must be compatible with all of them. The engine coolant is designed to transfer heat, stop corrosion, and provide a lubricant for the water pump seal. Old antifreeze can become acidic. The combination of acidic fluid and the dissimilar alloys in the cooling system actually creates a crude battery. This condition can cause accelerated corrosion of these materials. Changing the coolant according to a preventative maintenance schedule will prevent this acidic condition, and help prevent corrosion, and expensive future repairs. AI-169 Clean vs. dirty, acidic coolant (antifreeze) Coolant flush equipment Replacing the engine coolant as a part of a scheduled maintenance program is essential to your vehicle's reliability and longevity. New engine coolant has a non-acidic, noncorrosive PH level that will not destroy your cooling system components. The use of proper engine coolant will help keep your engine from overheating, and can help prevent the engine from freezing during cold weather conditions. 8

Bulb replacement Perform a function test of entire lighting system. Visually inspect the headlamps, high and low beams, hazard signals, turn indicators, parking lights and brake lights. Remove and install new light bulbs as needed to repair inoperative vehicle lamps. Lighting systems are required on all vehicles by both state and federal laws. Lights are a major contributor to your safety, not only by allowing you to see the road in front of you at night, but also by allowing other vehicles to see you. The value of having fullyfunctioning lights far outweighs the cost of replacing burned-out light bulbs. The cost is normally less than the inconvenience and can also prevent you from receiving a traffic citation. AI-212 Burned-out light bulbs The vehicle lighting system is an important safety feature of your car. Replacing burned out light bulbs is an inexpensive way to ensure that your driving experience is a safe one. Check engine light on One of our skilled technicians will connect a specialized scan tool to the vehicle. This scan tool will read any powertrain or tranmission diagnostic trouble codes stored in the vehicle's memory. Using these trouble codes, the technician can troubleshoot the cause of the trouble codes and then make the necessary repairs. When the repair is completed, the the powertrain or transmission controller is cleared of all stored codes, and then the vehicle is driven under the correct conditions to verify the problem has been repaired. When a vehicle s Check Engine light is on, this indicates that a significant problem with the emission control system has been detected by one or more of the vehicle controllers. In many states, your vehicle will fail the emissions inspection if the Check Engine light is on. The Check Engine light is your vehicle s way of telling you that it has detected a problem that is affecting the level of emissions released from your vehicle. If problems associated with the Check Engine light are not diagnosed and repaired in a timely fashion, expensive repairs may result. You may also run the risk of your car not starting, or stalling under various conditions. AI-231 New light bulb Check Engine light on Scanning vehicle for trouble codes When your Check Engine light is on, it indicates a problem that needs to be addressed immediately. Repairing the problem right away can ensure that your vehicle continues to be reliable, and can help to avoid costly repairs in the future. 9

Differential fluid change - rear Drain the rear differential fluid according to the vehicle manufacturer s service procedure. Refill the differential housing using the correct type and amount of differential fluid or gear oil. The rear differential contains components known as spider gears that allow the wheels to rotate at different speeds when turning. It also has a ring and pinion gear, which convert torque from the engine through the transmission and driveline into right angle torque. This is what enables the wheels to be driven by the engine. All of the gears and bearings in the differential are submersed in differential oil to protect and lubricate them. Differentials create heat under normal driving conditions, which can eventually break down the fluid, causing its lubrication properties to deteriorate. This condition can lead to total differential failure and an expensive repair bill. AI-257 Draining rear differential fluid Proper service of your rear differential fluid will make sure that the gears and bearings inside have the lubrication they require. With regular service, your differential can last the life of your vehicle. Changing the differential fluid as part of a scheduled maintenance program, will enhance the reliability of your vehicle, and save you money during the life of your vehicle. Refilling with new fluid 10
