Registration Packet for the LCOC Eastern National Meet in the Historic Hudson Valley September 2019 hosted by the Mid Atlantic Region. Please Read Before Filling out the Meet Registration Form. The Mid Atlantic Region is especially happy to host the Eastern National Meet this fall in historic Dutchess County in New York State. Dutchess County is located halfway between New York City and Albany, NY, its capital. We are proud to share the natural scenic beauty and our historic sites in the Hudson Valley, as well as to celebrate our 60 th Anniversary as the Mid Atlantic region of the LCOC. We are as proud of our MAR Lincoln history as we are the history of our area. We look forward to sharing our region with you. The hardest part of our ENM planning was to select which sites to visit in the time frame of the meet. We feel that we have selected some of the best places to visit with the three tours offered and have chosen the renown Culinary Institute of America as the site for the show field and the celebratory Saturday evening banquet. There is more to see in our area than you can possibly take in in just a few days but we did our best to provide you with some great opportunities. If you are arriving on Wednesday September 18 th you can register and get settled and meet others at a hospitality welcome in the evening. The driving tour begins Thursday morning September 19 th at 9:00 am. This tour will take you to such places as the Vanderbilt estate grounds & Vanderbilt Coach House, FDR s National Historic Site, St. James Church, the Mills estate, and more. We have a packet of information and driving directions ready for you with other surprises in store. This driving tour on Thursday will end with a box lunch followed by a private group tour of Springwood, FDR s home. On Thursday evening there will be a BBQ and you will have time to get acquainted and meet more of the participants who are in town. Friday, September 20 th will be another day for touring during the day and then enjoying a buffet dinner and fabulous auction in the evening at a private club overlooking the Hudson River. The first optional Friday tour is the tour to the Culinary Institute of America. It includes a one hour guided walking tour of the campus to visit three of the main buildings, learn about the programs the school offers and see some of the classrooms and food preparation. After the tour of the campus you will go to the Marriott Pavilion to attend an interactive class called the Physiology of Tasting to learn why we like certain foods and how our taste buds change over time. Following the class you are free to have lunch on your own on campus. The second optional tour is called Walkway, Wheels, and Winery. On this tour you will travel by bus to three selected sites. The first stop is at a National Historic Park called The Walkway Over the Hudson. It is a unique park that is actually built on the bed of an old railroad bridge that crosses over the Hudson River. The second stop is to Motorcyclepedia, an interesting museum that highlights all aspects of motorcycles from the largest Indian motorcycle collection (starting in 1897) to motorcycles from the military, shows, movies etc. The third stop on this tour is to one of the many fine wineries in our region that has a view of the Shawangunk Ridge. A lunch of wood fired pizza followed by a wine tasting will complete this tour before returning to the hotel. On Friday afternoon there will be a block of time for mechanical judging of your fine Lincoln(s). Times for all mechanical judging will be posted in the hotels.
The Hudson River Valley in Dutchess County, New York Friday night s buffet is at a scenic spot. Thanks to one of our MAR members, we were able to reserve this night at a local, private club where there is very good catered food, a great view of the river and room to display our fabulous auction items. Dress is casual. Just come ready to eat and stay to bid. (Remember to bring any auction items that you have to donate to the registration table when you first arrive at your hotel. The auction is the major fundraiser to support the Meet and your contributions are greatly appreciated.) Saturday, September 21 st is the Lincoln Car Show to be held in the designated parking area adjacent to the Marriott Pavilion at the Culinary Institute. You will want to get an early start to get your car placed in the Show Field. Mechanical Judging for late arrivals will be at the Show Field between 8:00 and 10:00 AM. (There will be other times for Mechanical Judging on Thursday and Friday at the hotel.) The exhibit of cars will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All cars are expected to remain on the show field until 3:00 PM. We anticipate that we will have some spectators on the campus with CIA students and alumni. The Saturday evening awards banquet at the Culinary Institute of America will begin at 6:00 p.m.with a cocktail reception on Anton Plaza. This will be an evening to remember, starting with our gathering near the beautiful fountain in front of Roth Hall, followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. in the charming former chapel known as Farquharson Hall. Tourists from all over the country travel to visit the Culinary Institute campus in Hyde Park and it is a special location for our banquet. Our dinner choices are Herb Encrusted Beef Tenderloin, Poached Salmon Béarnaise, Roasted Chicken with Apple Stuffing, or a Vegan Lasagna. We expect that this evening will be the highlight and culmination of an enjoyable meet and ask that you enjoy the dinner in formal dress, in style, like our classic Lincolns. (Black tie is optional) On Sunday morning, September 22 nd, John Walcek will be taking photos at a place and time to be announced. (Please note that if you are staying over until Monday, a trip to visit the Rhinebeck Aerodrome, is scheduled for Sunday afternoon if you are interested. Information will be given to those staying on until Monday.)
