BAZZAZ HARNESS CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT AN EXPERIENCED TECHNICIAN INSTALL THIS BAZZAZ PRODUCT Main Speed Neutral 1. Begin the installation by removing the following components: seat, fuel tank covers and fuel tank. + 12V switched power Rear Cylinder Cyl 2 Rear Coil Z-Fi CKPS TPS Ground lug CKPS Front Cylinder Cyl 1 Front Coil Z-AFM Map select FUEL HARNESS Speed Neutral CYL 1 Front Main Shift Switch CYL 2 Rear 2. Mount the control unit on top of the factory ECU using a supplied cable tie. Connect the Bazzaz fuel harness main to the control unit and begin to route the harness down the right side of the engine. 3. Locate the factory crank position s (CKPS) which can be found at the rear right hand corner of the airbox. Disconnect the factory s and connect the mating Bazzaz harness CKPS s inline. 6. Locate the factory harness neutral wire lead (single black wire found at the rear of the engine) and crimp one of the supplied scotchlok s onto it. Insert the Bazzaz neutral (red with white / blue wire) into the scotchlok. 7. Locate the factory speed sensor right next to the neutral wire; disconnect the factory s and plug the Bazzaz speed s inline with the factory harness. factory CKPS s Bazzaz CKPS s factory black neutral wire lead Bazzaz speed s Bazzaz neutral 4. Route the lead of the Bazzaz harness labeled Cylinder 1 Front toward the front of the engine, inside the right frame, to the front cylinder fuel injector connection. Remove the factory harness from the injector and connect the mating Bazzaz harness s inline. factory speed s factory injector Bazzaz fuel injector 1 s 8. Route the Bazzaz power (Orange Label) along with the factory harness towards the rear of the motorcycle. Locate the yellow wire coming out of the small eight pin on the right side of the tool tray. Crimp one of the supplied scotch lok s onto this yellow wire and insert the Bazzaz power (red with red wire) into the scotchlok. factory fuel injector factory 8 pin factory yellow wire 5. Identify the lead of the Bazzaz harness containing the neutral & speed sensor s. Route this portion of the harness inside the frame, over the clutch cover and along the routing path of the factory harness toward the rear of the engine. Note: Make sure to secure wires away from exhaust when installation is complete. Bazzaz power 9. Route the lead of the Bazzaz harness containing the TPS, rear cylinder injector and ground lug between the cylinders onto the left side of the bike.
10. Identify the factory harness rear cylinder injector and remove the factory harness from the injector. Then connect the mating Bazzaz harness s inline as previously performed for the front cylinder injector connection in step 4. Bazzaz injector 2 s 13. The Monster is equipped with two lambda/o2 sensors. These sensors must be bypassed through the use of O2 eliminators supplied with the kit. Disconnect the factory harness from each sensor. Install the Bazzaz O2 eliminators in place of the factory sensor s and attach the O2 eliminator ground lugs to chassis ground. Be sure to secure the eliminator and factory sensor lead away from any hot or moving components which could cause damage to the components. factory harness s factory rear cylinder injector (factory injector is hidden in picture) Bazzaz O2 eliminators 11. Locate the throttle position sensor (TPS) which is attached to the left side throttle body. Disconnect the factory harness and identify the orange wire. Crimp a supplied scotch lok onto this factory orange wire. Insert the Bazzaz TPS (red with blue wire) into the scotchlok. Re-connect the factory harness to the TPS sensor. ground factory TPS sensor factory orange wire Bazzaz TPS 14. Connect the Bazzaz coil harness main to the control unit and route the individual coil leads (Bazzaz harness labeled) to the corresponding factory harness coil connections. Pull back the sheathing of the factory harness to reveal the wires to each ignition coil. At the rear cylinder coil connection crimp a supplied scotch lok onto the gray/green wire of the factory harness. Insert the Bazzaz attached to the corresponding lead of the Bazzaz harness into the scotchlok. Repeat this process for the front cylinder coil connection crimping onto the gray/blue wire of the factory harness. Front cylinder coil unplugged in photo for easier installation factory TPS 12. 15. Now you will begin the installation of the shift switch by removing the factory shift rod. Install the supplied shift switch onto the heim joint connected to the shift shaft of the engine. Next install the supplied replacement shift rod between the switch and rear heim joint connected to the rear set. Bazzaz shift rods are manufactured to fit multiple applications and can be cut at 10mm intervals on either end to shorten for proper positioning. Once correct length is attained install Bazzaz shift rod by screwing it into place between the Bazzaz Shift switch and the rear shift linkage. Secure components by tightening the 10mm nuts. Now route the shift switch sensor cable into the engine compartment and connect it to the mating on the Bazzaz coil harness. Secure excess shift switch cable away from moving parts. 16. To complete the installation, use the supplied cable ties to secure the Bazzaz and factory harnesses neatly along its routing path free of any moving or hot components (which could cause damage or failure of the system). If any problem is found, please carefully follow through the installation steps again. If problem still persists, please call Bazzaz tech support department at (909) 597-8300. After it is determined that everything is correct reinstall the components removed in step one and the installation will be complete. The Bazzaz control unit is capable of storing two maps. These maps can be selected by connecting or disconnecting the map select jumper on the fuel harness (or you can switch maps on the fly with the handle bar mounted map select switch, sold separately). When the map select jumper is connected, the control unit is operating using map 1. When the map select jumper is disconnected, the control unit is operating using map 2. Note: Upon installing the system, verify you have selected the proper map to correspond with your model. The controller supplied with this kit has been pre-programmed with two enhanced fuel maps. Map 1 is intended for use on the 09-11Monster 696 and Map 2 for the 10-12 Monster 796 (Euro Spec Only). You are able to load and unload maps as needed via the Z-Fi Mapper software. Map 1 Map 2
