Any changes requested by the Judges must be completed prior to the start of the event and be approved by the Judges. All entries are subject to a rules inspection by the Judges after the event and prior to removal from the Fairgrounds.

10. All decisions of the Judges are final. Judges reserve the right to Juggle the classes as necessary to be as fair as possible. Judges will utilize stock weights of combines as much as possible to establish the classes. 11. Drivers and crewmembers shall not consume beer or other alcoholic beverages prior to completion the final night s heat. 12. One of the crew members must walk in front of the combine in the pits as a ground guide during any movement of the combine in the pit area. Pit speed is the walking speed of the crew member for all vehicles in the pits. This will be enforced by Fairboard members and local law enforcement. 13. All entries must include names of the driver and owner. All drivers and crew members must enter through the pit entrance. Inspection Rules 1. Judges have the authority to request inspection holes cut by torch or other means to inspect any/all parts of the combine during any inspection of the competing combines. Failure to comply with the Judges request may result in penalties as outlined in Item #15 of the Inspection Rules. 2. All combines must have cabs and only two wheel drive units will be allowed. Mudhog/rear wheel assist axles can be used but must have drive systems disabled. 3. All combines must use either a grain table (platform) or a row crop head with the heads fixed at 18 from the ground. Loss of any platform will result in disqualification from the competition. 4. Combine grain tables must have the reel, guards, sickles, and any loose sheet metal removed. All combine row crop heads must have the row units removed. Combine ladders, unloading augers, and glass must also be removed. Separator must be inoperative. The driver s door must be chained or welded shut. Safety bars or a shield must be added to the front of the cab and other large open areas for driver protection. 5. Combine heads from prior events may be reinforced to original strength or less. Excessive reinforcement will be grounds for disqualification. Competitors and owners are encouraged to contact the Head Judge prior to the event concerning questions on reinforcement and safety shielding. 6. All exterior fans must be shielded. 7. All direct drive hydro pressure hoses or lines must be shielded with 1/8 steel deflection shielding. 8. Any combine deemed to be spraying oil into spectator areas, may be disqualified by ruling of the Judges. 9. Fuel tank must be mounted inside the grain tank, with the original tank removed or sufficiently vented. 10. Batteries must be secured on top of the combine at least 6 feet away from the operator and covered. 11. Tires must be filled with air only. No fluid or foam. No duals allowed. No solid tires. 12. All combines are to be as originally manufactured. No modifications to add weight to the combine are acceptable. No reinforced parts or shields will be allowed, except as outlined in Inspection Rules # 4 & # 5.

13. A colored stick must be mounted in the vicinity of the driver. The stick must be broken off when driver is disqualified or the machine is immobilized or unable to continue. This will be provided after the machine has cleared inspection. 14. Combines may be decorated, painted or offer advertising. No profanity or obscene materials will be allowed. 15. All combines will be subject to a post event inspection by the Judges before the combines are removed from the Fairgrounds. Removal of a combine prior to post event inspection or failure to pass the post event inspection will be grounds for loss of all eligible payouts. In addition, the owner and operator of any combine failing post event inspection may be disqualified from participating in any future Combine Derby events at the Bremer County Fair based on the Judge s recommendation. 16. Any alterations to stock exhaust must have the exhaust directed upward. Any turbo-charged combine must have upward directed exhaust. 17. Flame throwers or other open flames for any purpose are strictly prohibited. 18. Feeder houses, stops and lift cylinders can be reinforced within reason to the operator s discretion, but cannot extend outside the area of the feeder house. This is intended to keep the feeder house from collapsing and to provide driver safety. Refer to rules 4&5 regarding criteria for combine headers. Competition Rules 1. No direct hits to the driver area will be allowed. 2. Drivers must wear a seat belt, helmet, sleeved shirt (long sleeve recommended), pants and closetoed shoes through each entire heat or until an official approves their exit of the combine. Drivers removing their seat belt or helmet prior to the end of the heat will forfeit all eligible payouts for the competition. 3. Any driver leaving their seat during any heat, will be disqualified. 4. Drivers are required to make contact with another non-disqualified combine within 2 minutes, once the Judges deem the combine to be on-time. 5. Drivers must stop their machine if contact causes another combine to lift the tires off the ground. This rule is designed to eliminate roll-overs. 6. Drivers must stop their machines when they see they are pushing another competitor into or onto the cement barriers. 7. All drivers will bring their combines to an immediate stop upon signal from the Judges in case of fire, injury, any other emergency or at the end of the heat. Any driver not complying with this rule will be disqualified. 8. Any driver leaving any event/heat prior to their combine being knocked out through competition will forfeit all eligible payouts. (Drivers leaving to save an engine based on punctured radiator or other critical issue will be acceptable). Judges decisions will be final. 9. All decisions of the Judges during the competition are final. Decisions are made to protect the participant and spectators.

Complaint Rules 1. Any Driver or Owner that suspects another competitor is cheating, will be allowed to file a Complaint with the Judges within 1 hour of the finish of the event along with a $100 Complaint Fee per each complaint filed. NO complaints will be heard by the Judges without receipt of the $100 fee. If the Complaint is found to be accurate based on the Judge s ruling and the competitor is found to be cheating, the $100 will be returned to Driver/Owner filing the complaint. If the Complaint is found to be unfounded based on Judge s ruling, the $100 Complaint Fee will be retained by the Bremer County Fair Association. Any competitor found cheating is subject to the penalties outlined in Inspection Rules #15. Prize Money will be awarded as follows: Qualifying Events - $100 for each qualifier (Top 2 in each heat) Small, Medium & Large Combine Championship ($500 1st, $350 2nd, $250 3rd, $150 4th) Showmanship Awards (3-Prettiest, Tough Luck Award - $100 each)
