ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS Preparation: Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Park the vehicle on level ground and set the emergency brake. We recommend reading through the installation instructions in whole before performing the work. Estimated Installation Time: 2 Hours **This installation requires 2 people for best results** You will need the following tools: - Ratchet - 10mm Socket - 13mm Socket - 15mm Socket - 18mm Socket - 13/16" Socket - 10mm Wrench - Wire Crimpers - Butt Connectors (x4) Included in Kit: 1 - License Plate Light Kit 2 - Bumper Mounting Spacers Removal: 1. Remove your license plate. 2. From underneath your truck, unplug the main license plate light harness connector (sits right next to the trailer plug connector, just above the spare tire) and the trailer plug connector. Then, remove the trailer plug from the OEM bumper by pushing the metal tabs on the back side of the plug together and pushing the plug out the front of the bumper. ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS 3. Using a 13mm Socket, remove the bolt that is directly behind the trailer plug opening. Then, remove the bolt that is in the same location on the other side of the bumper (accesible through the opening behind the license plate). (Fig B) Fig B 4. Using an 18mm Socket, remove the two rear bed bolts. They are along the rear frame, where it meets the hitch tube. (Fig C) Save these bolts for reuse. ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS 5. Use a 13/16" Socket to remove the bolt directly next to each bed bolt you just removed. (Fig D) Fig D Rear of the Truck 6. Using an 18mm and a 15mm Socket, remove the two nuts and one bolt (per side) along the outside of the frame, just behind the rear spring hanger. Save the 18mm Stud/Nut assemblies for reuse. ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS 7. Lift up on the rear of the truck bed. As you have the rear of the bed lifted in the air, slide the OEM bumper out and off the vehicle. (Fig F) Fig F 8. Remove the two bolts (per side) referenced in (Fig G). Then, remove the OEM hitch from the vehicle. If you would like to keep your hitch, you will have to modify it to fit. ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS 9. Remove the series of plastic clips holding the license plate light harness to the OEM bumper. Then, remove the harness from the bumper. (Fig H) Fig H 10. ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS Installation: 11. Reinstall the bolts from Step 4 in the same place you removed them from. Torque these bolts to factory torque spec. 12. Find the set of supplied spacers, there are two of them. If you modified your hitch to work with this bumper, you will not need these spacers. If you did not modify your hitch, these spacers must be mounted between the bumper and the frame. Set the bumper in place on the vehicle. Use the stud assemblies and nuts from Step 6 to secure the bumper to the truck. (Fig J) Once you have the bumper positioned how you'd like, torque the bolts to the OEM torque spec. ADDICTIVE DESERT DESIGNS 13. Install your license plate using the supplied LED License Plate Lights as the bolts. Make sure to point the LED towards your license plate. (Fig K) Fig K 14. Find the harness you removed in Step 9. Use butt connectors to connect the red/black wires from the license plate lights to the green/black wires from the OEM harness. Connect the red wire from the license plate light to the green wire from the OEM harness and the black wire from the license plate light to the black wire from the OEM harness. (Fig L) Fig L 15. Plug the license plate light harness back into the main connector on the truck (from Step 2). Then, zip tie the harness up and out of the way. 16. Stand back and enjoy your new Rock Fighter Rear Bumper. 17. Check and re-tighten, if needed, all mounting bolts after 100 miles and periodically thereafter. Addictive Desert Designs Page 7
