4 lubrication and periodic service 31. Powershaft (40 rpm PTO) Powershaft Iiller plug Remove powershaft from tractor and drain out oil from filler hole. Flush with kerosene, install on tractor and fill to level offiller hole with SAE 0 multipurpose lubricant. 1200-hour service 32. Front wheel bearings Annually the front wheels should be checked for looseness and, at the same time, hub bearings should be repacked. Remove each hub and wheel; check bearings for wear. Before placing hub and wheel back onto front spindle, pack each bearing with SAE multipurpose grease. It is not necessary to pack cavity of hub with grease as no lubricating value is obtained from doing so. When hubs and wheels are again attached to front spindles, make certain bearings are not adjusted too loose or too tight. After a slight drag is noticed, back off nut to.nearest slot until cotter pin can be inserted, and replace hub cap. For complete instructions on packing front wheel bearings, see page 9. If the front wheels are operated in water it may be necessary to lubricate the bearings more frequently. To do so, remove and discard the plug in the hub and insert a grease fitting. Lubricate the bearings with several strokes of SAE multipurpose grease. ABC ()~ / D E T 3712 ((C)~) ~ F Pipe plug \Y~J 1 lc1v@~ A Oil seal B Seal cu p C Inner bearing o. No adjustment is required other than maintaining correct pedal free play. Adjust clutch pedal so there is approximately ;3/4-inch free travel at top of pedal. To adjust, proceed as follows: securely. Recheck free travel to be certain the adjustment has been made correctly. PTO clutch lever adjustment Adjusting PTO clutch To adjust the PTO clutch lever, remove the two cap screws and lock washers attaching the clutch pedal stop to the left side of the tractor center frame. Remove the plug and gasket. With the aid of a screwdriver, push the spring loaded pin in toward the rear of the tractor. To adjust the tension, turn the adjusting ring clockwise (downward)_ To reduce the tension, turn the adjusting ring counterclockwise (upward). Clutch pedal adjustment Loosen j am nut on adjusting stud. Turn stud counterclockwise to decrease free travel and clockwise to increase free travel. After correct adjustment of 3/4-inch is made, tighten jam nut Checking PTO clutch lever tension
