D R A G L I N E ( operations manual ) + building instructions examples
Operations Manual: Drum winch rope routing Rope leaves winch at rear side Rope leaves winch at rear side Rope leaves winch at bottom side For smooth operations and having the remote control levers aligned with the directions of the drum winches: make sure the rope leaves the drum winches as mentioned in these pictures! As well, make on all rope ends a loop Remark: Make sure the rope loop fits on the wedge belt wheel of the hook.
Operations Manual: A-frame Boom rope set-up 3) Wind rope on wheel and twist it around the black pins and orange wheels to secure it. 1x Rope medium thickness 250cm, Part x77cc250, See LEGO mobile crane sets 8421 & 42009 1) Starting point: Rope with loop 2) Wind rope around wheel, then back to top of A-frame ~ 77 cm wheel to wheel ~ 90 degrees!
Operations Manual: A-frame Drum winch rope set-up 1) Wind the rope over the wheel rims back-and-forth 3 times 2) Mount rope loop onto the black pin (temporary remove the green 3L beam thin)
Operations Manual: Dragline bucket (1) Guide rope carefully through the hole between the black beam and the black bar
Operations Manual: Dragline bucket (2) Rope loop of upper winch Guide rope through pin hole and lock the rope within the groove of the towball pin Rope loop of lower winch ~ 47 cm 2 1 Rope distance between locked rope (1) and rope end (2) is: ~ 47 cm
Operations Manual: Double rope lifting Guide rope of the lower drum winch through the black axles (red circle) to the 2 nd pully at the boom head
Operations Manual: When the boom M-motor slips During operations it should NOT occur that the boom winch Power Functions M- motor for raise/lower the boom slips due to the applied weight of the boom + loaded bucket. However, if this might be the case (probably due to much load into the bucket, or adding more boom extension frames) it is possible to prevent this from happening. Just add a black 12 tooth double bevel gear (part 32270) on the blue axle/pin.
Operations Manual: Transport readiness Lock the boom foot orange 3L beam with an axle (red arrow) onto the A-frame. As such the boom-foot can be raised / lowered together with the A-frame.

Information Dragline (fully remote controlled) Dimensions # Parts Length Width Height Weight 2.208 65 cm * 21 cm 98 cm 18 cm ** 2,7 kg (incl. 2 Battery boxes) Boom angle: - 10 till 80 degrees Lifting capability: 250 gram * Length for transport, only A-frame + boom foot ** Superstructure height Technic functions Crawlers driven by 2 power functions L-motors, powered by their own battery box embedded in the chassis. Superstructure equipped with 3 power functions IR-receivers, and a power functions rechargeable battery box. Slew of the superstructure powered by 2 synchronized power functions M-motors. Raise / lower the boom powered by a single power functions M-motor. Wind / unwind the 2 drum winches powered by a single power functions XL-motor each. Operating the free-fall system (whereof the drum winches are temporary released from their XL-motors) is powered by a single power functions M-motor for each drum winch. Ability to reroute the drag line drum winch to a second pulley in the boom, providing double rope lifting. Non-Technic functions To have a better line of sight to the 3 power functions IR-receivers, the rear cover panel on the superstructure can be opened. Appearance details Bucket is equipped with LEGO bionicle chain links as well with the 8x LEGO bionicle red teeth.
