Command Rescue Model FC0780R Wintergreen Rescue Squad Wintergreen, VA Wintergreen is a very popular ski resort community located in the western Virginia Appalachian Mountain range above the Shenandoah Valley. The department responds to a wide variety of calls unique to mountain resort communities; skiing accidents in the winter and mountain rescue operations in the spring, summer and fall, along with routine motor vehicle accidents and medical emergencies. Taking all these into consideration and designing a single apparatus that was capable of serving all these needs required the assistance of an expert design team. Hackney was selected as the company that would come alongside the apparatus committee to develop a vehicle uniquely designed for Wintergreen. The chassis of choice was a Mack Granite conventional cab/chassis with a Mack 405 hp engine, providing 1480 lb/ft of torque to rapidly climb the steep grade prevalent in the response area. The 18-3/4-ft body has a 70 long command module with 75 headroom integrated into the forward section. Across the front wall is a two-man work station constructed a 1-1/4 thick solid-surface material. Above the desk are three 28 high x 16 deep aluminum cabinets with adjustable shelving. The cabinets features split hinged doors with full-length latch. The face of the doors are designed a White Board surface (see photo on right). Interior of command module with aluminum cabinets and solid-surface desk.
There are seven (7) rescue compartments with the two forward compartments providing 40 of deep from the lower floor to ceiling by means of Hackney s dropframe technology, vastly increasing available storage capacity. Each tall side compartment employs a dropdown step platform for accessing upper storage areas. Additional storage is made available on the recessed roof where the 120VAC air conditioner and light tower are stored below the roof line. The rear of the body was raised to provide maximum angle-ofdeparture for steep grades. A four-bank cascade fill station is installed for refilling both SCBA and SCUBA tanks. A full body length electrically deployed and retracted awning provides shelter during refills and rehab operations. 10,000 lb. rated winch receivers are located on the front bumper, beneath the rear bumper and on the left and right sides of the body. A-Frame attachments are also installed on the front bumper. Transverse tunnels are installed in the upper wheelhouse compartment The multiplexed electrical system is for storage of stokes basket, two long back boards and folding ladder. features a color LCD control panel that not only provides activation switches but includes graphic displays of doors open, light tower and awning deployed and scrolls diagnostics across the bottom of the screen. All lighting, including warning, traffic advisor, clearance and tail lights are LED. A color backup camera is integrated into the multiplex system and utilizes the LCD control panel as a display screen. A 25kw PTO generator powers the command center air conditioner and heater, light tower, tripod flood lights, cord reel and multiple outlets. Hydraulic hose reels are installed in the rear extrication tool compartment. 1-800-763-0700 * rescueleader@hackneyusa.com
