2015 RDX AWD vs. 2015 Audi Q5 3.0T quattro Key RDX advantages are listed vs. the Audi Q5. Additional areas of RDX advantage are provided in the accompanying Features and Specifications chart. 2015 RDX AWD 2015 Audi Q5 3.0T quattro Q5 strengths: More engine torque Greater towing capacity RDX s top advantages include: Superior NHTSA Crash Safety Ratings: The 2015 RDX performs better on crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) compared to the 2015 Audi Q5. RDX earns a 5 Star Overall Vehicle Score vs. a 4 Star Score 5 for Q5. RDX earns a 5 Star Frontal Crash Overall Rating vs. a 4 Star Rating 5 for Q5. More Legroom and Shoulder Room: RDX has two cubic feet more overall passenger volume reflected in more front- and rear-seat legroom and shoulder room for greater passenger comfort: 1.0 inch more front-seat legroom 0.9 inch more rear-seat legroom 1.0 inch more front-seat shoulder room 0.8 inch more rear-seat shoulder room Better EPA Fuel Economy Ratings 1 : RDX AWD with Technology Package has a 1-mpg EPA city rating advantage, a 1-mpg EPA highway rating advantage, and a 1-mpg EPA combined rating advantage over the 2015 Audi Q5 3.0T Premium Plus quattro with its 8-speed automatic transmission. Greater Value: When the 2015 Q5 3.0T Premium Plus quattro is comparably equipped, RDX AWD with Technology Package is priced (MSRP) $10,510 less! In addition, popular features like Hill Start Assist, GPS-linked climate control, and an MP3 player jack are Not Available on the 2015 Q5 3.0T Premium Plus quattro. Lower Overall Cost of Ownership: According to Edmunds.com True Cost to Own (TCO ) calculations, the 2015 RDX AWD with Technology Package will cost its owners $7,435 less over 5 years and 75,000 miles, including lower costs for depreciation, fuel, maintenance, and repairs. (TCO varies by location. Figures for ZIP Code 98026.) Point/Counterpoint Here are answers to questions clients may raise about potential Q5 advantages. The Q5 has significantly greater towing capacity: Ask your clients how much they are likely to tow with their new vehicle. RDX will meet the needs of most clients. If clients anticipate exceeding RDX s towing capacity, show them the 2015 MDX SH-AWD with Technology Package, which at an MSRP of $49,960 is still priced $1,665 less than the 2015 Q5 3.0T Premium Plus quattro in this comparison and has much more to offer. The Q5 s 3.0-liter supercharged engine produces more torque: The Q5 3.0T Premium Plus quattro needs the added torque because it weighs (curb weight) a whopping 513 pounds more than the RDX AWD with Technology Package. The Q5 has an 8-speed automatic transmission: The Q5 s 8-speed automatic transmission offers no real advantage since RDX AWD still has 1-mpg EPA city/highway/combined ratings advantages. RDX doesn t offer an assistive technology like Audi side assist: Point out that Audi side assist is optional (part of the Technology Package) on the Q5. Encourage clients to check out the excellent sight lines provided by RDX and remind them that, even with electronic features like Audi side assist, the driver is still the final check on whether it is safe to change lanes. Finally, if a blind spot information system is a requirement for a particular client, the feature is standard on the MDX SH-AWD with Technology Package. 04

Selling TLX V-6: Tips from Top Producers Frontline interviewed sales consultants who are among the top producers in sales of TLX V-6 models since the TLX was introduced. Here s what sets them apart. Rick Schaeffer, Gold Master Smithtown Acura, St. James, New York The Right Engine The 6-cylinder is the right engine for the TLX for clients who can afford the extra money. TLX is a larger car [than the TSX] so it needs a larger engine. (There s nothing wrong with the 4-cylinder. It works fine for those clients who had a TSX or who are on a $30,000 budget.) Demonstrate Sport Mode The 6-cylinder is rated at 290 horsepower, but with the Integrated Dynamics System in Sport or Sport+ mode, it feels like 310 or 315 horsepower. On the demonstration drive, I take the car out in Normal mode and back in Sport mode. Competitive Insights The TLX 6-cylinder falls in such a fantastic competitive niche. Clients would have to spend at least $5,000 more to get similar features on competitive vehicles from BMW or Lexus. Terry Jarvis, Gold Level Rick Case Acura, Fort Lauderdale, Florida Converting TL Owners I pre-sold a lot of cars. My client base includes a lot of TL owners that I have been converting to TLX buyers. The Acura Advantage program really helped with the $1,000 in payments and up to $500 in accessories. It gave me a reason to contact my previous clients and invite them to consider the TLX. Giving the TLX a More Aggressive Look Some TL owners are concerned that the TLX isn t as stylish as their TLs. For them, we dress up the TLX with different wheels and underbody kits to give the car a more aggressive look. Competitive Insight: Infiniti Q50 Even though the Infiniti Q50 has slightly more horsepower, we have roughly equivalent horsepower and a much smoother, quieter ride. I also show clients reviews about the Q50 in consumer publications. NEWS 2015 TLX Earns Kiplinger s Best Value Award The new 2015 TLX has earned a Best Value Award from the business and financial publication, Kiplinger s Personal Finance, being named Best New/Redesigned Car in the $40,000 $50,000 category. Kiplinger s Best Value Awards are the result of a comprehensive review of hundreds of vehicles, revealing the best values among the newest models. Award winners are selected based on a number of qualifications, including price, performance, value, safety, roominess, and driving impressions. 06

Going Gold: The Qualities that Make a Gold Master Sales Consultant y As with a professional athlete on a championship team, success as a professional Acura sales consultant requires dedication and perseverance. Those who achieve the highest levels of success receive Gold level recognition in the Council of Sales Excellence and, ultimately, may earn the distinction of becoming a Gold Master. It isn t easy, but then, being exceptional never is. Over the years, Frontline has had the honor of interviewing hundreds of Gold and Gold Master performers. We ve noticed that top performers share a number of qualities. As you begin a new year, it s a good time to take a personal inventory to identify where you re doing well and maybe a few areas in which you can improve. Qualities of Top Performing Sales Consultants High regard for self and high regard for others: They have their clients best interests in mind in all they do. They also recognize the value they provide as professional sales consultants and take pride in what they do. Effective communication skills: They use their interpersonal communication skills to develop rapport. They are especially good listeners who relate what they say, do, and show to what their clients have told them. Nonverbal and situational awareness: They pay attention to the subtle nonverbal cues from their clients to make sure they are on track. They also manage the nonverbal messages they convey to bolster their credibility and maintain client comfort. Behavioral flexibility: They are able to identify their clients preferred pace (fast or slow) and priority (task or relationship) and adapt their behavior as necessary to match them. Internal locus of control: They accept the things they can t change but take the initiative to control the things they can. They take personal responsibility for their own successes and failures. Emotional stability and maturity: They provide a calming influence to their clients and are able to readily move on from rejection or failure. They know that if they keep doing the right things, their success is assured. Ability to prioritize and focus: They recognize the most important things to be done at any given time and focus their energy and attention on accomplishing them. They don t waste time or effort on unimportant tasks. Self-motivation and a tendency to be a self-starter: Instead of waiting for someone else to tell them what to do, they come to work ready to work, have their day planned, and stay busy. Positive mental attitude: They know that their positive attitude is their most valuable asset especially when working with clients. They focus on the positive and, when faced with an obstacle, know that if they stay positive, they will find a way to overcome any obstacle. High expectations: They set high standards and objectives for themselves. They expect to do well and take action to make their expectations a reality. Passion for automobiles and the Acura brand: They genuinely love being around automobiles and the automobile business. They choose to sell Acura automobiles because they believe in them. If you found you identify with many or even all of these characteristics, you have all you need to join this exclusive group. If you apply yourself every business day to these characteristics, success as a sales professional is bound to follow. TALK TO US!
