There are 3M local delivery trucks and buses that should be electric vehicles like this one. They do the same local routes every day and collectively burn $100M in fossil fuel every DAY. Imagine that they could run on zero-emissions electricity for 1/8 th of the operating cost, saving $32B per year. This one does, and the others can too, thanks to Motiv s universal all-electric powertrain for trucks and buses. 1
The fleets operating these 3M vehicles know the potential savings of going electric they could save 80% of their fuel budget, or $85M per day. 2
All of these vehicles are in daily service with fleets 3
All of these vehicles use the same Motiv technology under the hood. During the new vehicle s manufacture, Motiv s all-electric powertrain replaces the fossil fuel engine, transmission, fuel and exhaust systems to make these vehicles zero-emission electric versions of their fossil fuel relatives. 4
Many fleets (including UPS, FedEx, Postal Service, etc) continually ask dealers and manufacturers for electric trucks Even though all the electric parts exist (battery packs, motors, etc) to satisfy all of the truck and bus customers, no one has created the software and controls that allow these parts to work together in the vehicles that the customers want 5
Motiv has spent 5 years developing its patented, universal all-electric powertrain. This system enables the commercial electric parts to be used on any truck or bus chassis including chassis types that our customers already use (such as Ford, etc). In addition to working with different chassis, the Motiv system works with different battery and motor technologies. This is important when looking forward, as we do not have a crystal ball to predict what battery technology will be the best in 5 years and our system keeps the vehicles compatible with whatever might be coming down the pipeline. 6
Motiv does not sell vehicles. We sell a kit which is installed on a vehicle during it s manufacture. This kit transforms a fossil fuel chassis into an electric-powered chassis prior to the rest of the vehicle being installed on the chassis. Motiv sells its kit to the vehicle manufacturer, but its sales are driven by end-user fleets who request electric versions of their vehicles. Motiv works with fleets, dealer, and manufacturers to ensure the electric-powered vehicles meet the needs of the fleets. 7
Presently, Motiv as 3 kits which install on 3 different chassis - class 4, 6 and 8 chassis. The kits include batteries, controllers, motor, accessories, brackets, cables and hoses. Each kits uses the same batteries and controllers, but uses different sized motors and different brackets, cables and hoses. Motiv will widen its product line-up to include all-electric kits for other chassis in the future, but for each kit, extensive engineering and product support is required, so the growth pace in developing new kits is presently only about 1 per year. 8
This slide and the following ones show vehicles that are built on Motiv-powered allelectric chassis. This vehicle, the ECO-CHARGE built by Ameritrans (Elkhart, IN) uses the Ford E450 with the Motiv all-electric powertrain kit. 9

One of these Electric Refuse Vehicles (ERV) is in service in Chicago. It s been performing very well and can do a full day s work on their hardest routes. One driver said this vehicle Changed his life because he s not spending his day sitting 2 feet from a hot, smelly, noisy, vibrating engine every day. Residents like the quiet trash pickup. The hydraulics are controlled by a dedicated, high voltage high efficiency electric motor and only run on demand. Performance metrics such as compaction time meet or exceed diesel trucks. The range is 60 miles, but typically it s used on shorter routes. It is most effective in stop-and-go, high density routes. 14
Either charge station option is under $5,000 15
Motiv s team are experts in software and electric vehicle development. Our expertise is the all-electric powertrain, and we work with excellent partners who have expertise in the vehicle chassis and body. 17
The photos shown are of our two electric vehicles driving down the freeway. Thank you for your interest in Motiv. We look forward to your help in revolutionizing the truck and bus industry. 18
