Power = (ft-lb/sec) = Torque (ft-lb) x Speed (radians/sec) = Force in feet per second (FV) 1 Horsepower = 550 ft-lb/sec Horsepower (hp =FV/550) where v is speed expressed in feet/sec 88 feet per second = 60 mph Multiply feet/sec by (60-60)/5280 to get mph Horsepower (hp) = FV/375 where V is speed expressed in mph and F is in pounds Horsepower (hp) = (Torque x RPM)/5252 = 2 π/60 x FV/550 Wheel RPM = (mph x Revolutions/mile/60) Power (kw) = 0.7457 x hp Gravity (g) = 32.16 ft/sec² or roughly 22mph/sec Weight (W) = Mass (M) x g/32.16 Torque = (F(5280/2π))/Revolutions/mile) = 840.34 x F/(revolutions/mile) (this is how many times the tire rotates per mile. Torque(wheel) = Torque (motor) x (overall gear ratio x overall drivetrain efficiency) Speed (Vehicle) (in MPH) = (RPM(motor) x 60/ (overall gear ratio x revolutions /mile)
According to Mathew Simmons, Chairman of Simmons & Company International and author of Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy, "...peaking is one of these fuzzy events that you only know clearly when you see it through a rear view mirror, and by then an alternate resolution is generally too late." The 2008 Oil Price Spike helped cause the 2009 recession. Result: 5.4 Million Jobs Lost! December 2009 15.3 Million People Unemployed!(1) Over 10% of the workforce. (1) http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm

Alternative Transportation is NEEDED NOW! So what can you buy right now? CNG vehicle? Hydrogen vehicle?
Yes, Average Daily Commute is less than 100 total miles. EV miles will be 100 Miles Plus per charge with LiFePo4 Battery Technology. Car Conversions and Kits can be built for less than the NEW EV OEM price and will include batteries not be leased.
Do Hummers Payback? Do Mercedes Payback? Do Toyotas Payback? It all depends on your perspective.is it worth it?
You don t like stopping for gas? You don t like sending American Dollars to countries that don t like us very much? You like having your car s tank full every morning when you wake up? You like a very quiet smooth ride? You like less pollution? You are committed to keeping gas prices low?
Not all Hybrids are alike.. An SUV Hybrids helps a little to improve its Fuel Economy. A stock Prius Hybrid battery used exclusively will move the car 1 to 2 miles tops before it is spent. Additional Batteries can be installed which will enable the Prius to get over 100 mpg and drive 50 miles of EV only range. If you worked 25 miles or less away from home you would never buy gas!!!
30 mile commute 20 Miles of Electric Only Range Hybrid Thus every day the car goes to work 20 miles will be Electric and 10 will be gas miles After 5 days of this the totals are: 100 Miles of Electric Miles 50 Gas Miles Prius Rating 50 MPG so 1 gallon of gas burned per 150 miles of driving.
2010-2015 will be gradually seeing 10% of the light duty fleet moving into Electric Cars. Either converted or OEMs. 2015 Gas will be significantly more expensive than it is now. Batteries will continue to improve and deliver more capacity in smaller spaces enabling more EV only range. I believe Oil will become a very expensive product.
I would like everyone to join us at our next NJ Electric Auto Association meeting on March 16 th at the Morris County Library in Whippany. Just off Rt 287 in the Morristown Area. My nickname for it is WHY drogen!! Simple reason for me is Cost. Right now it is just not cost effective to use Hydrogen to replace Gas. Hydrogen cars are Electric Cars!!! Hydrogen collection/creation is much less efficient compared to electricity creation and battery energy storage.
