Introduction FILTER SIZG DEX CALCULATION CORRECTIVE FACTOR Page Introduction
Calculation FILTER SIZG THE CORRECT FILTER SIZG HAVE TO BE BASED ON THE TOTAL PRESSURE DROP DEPENDG BY THE APPLICATION. FOR EXAMPLE, THE MAXIMUM TOTAL PRESSURE DROP ALLOWED BY A NEW AND CLEAN RETURN FILTER HAVE TO BE THE RANGE 0. 0.6 bar. The pressure drop calculation is performed by adding together the value of the housing with the value of the filter. The pressure drop pc of the housing is proportional to the fluid density (kg/dm ); all the graphs in the catalogue are referred to mineral oil with density of 0.86 kg/dm. The filter pressure drop pe is proportional to its viscosity (mm /s), the corrective factor Y have to be used in case of an oil viscosity different than 0 mm /s (cst). Calculation: pc = 0.0 bar (see graphic below) Δp bar MPT 0 - Length - 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0 0 * G / 0 60 0 80 0 00 Flow rate l/min housings p pressure drop. The curves are plotted using mineral oil with density of 0.86 kg/dm in compliance with ISO 968. p varies proportionally with density. Sizing data for single filter, head at top pc = housing pressure drop [bar] pe = pressure drop [bar] Y = Corrective factor Y (see correspondent table), depending on the filter type, on the filter size, on the filter length and on the filter media Q = flow rate (l/min) V reference oil viscosity = 0 mm /s (cst) V = operating oil viscosity in mm /s (cst) pressure drop calculation with an oil viscosity different than 0 mm /s (cst) pe = Y : 000 x Q x (V:V) p Tot. = pc + pe Verification formula p Tot. p max allowed pe = (.00 : 000) x 0 x (6 : 0) = 0.7 bar H Series Nominal filtration Type A0 A06 A0 A6 A5 P0 P5 M60 M90 Return filters 7.00 50.08 0.00 6.00 9.00 6. 5.5.0 MF 00 9.0.00. 9.00 8.00 6.56 7. 5. 5.00...68.85..00.0 MF 00 MFX 00 MF 00 MFX 00 7.00 50.08 0.00 6.00 9.00 6. 5.5.0 8.0 7. 0.5 6.0.0.50 9.00 5.0 8.67 6.86.65.0 8.7 5.70..0 6.88.00.50.00.6.05.6.9.96.7. 0.96.5.0 0.96 0.8 Maximum total pressure drop ( p max) allowed by a new and clean filter Application Range (bar) Suction filters Return filters Low & Medium Pressure filters High Pressure filters Stainless Steel filters 0.08 0.0 0. 0.6 0. 0.6 return lines 0. 0.5 lubrication lines 0. 0. off-line in power systems 0. 0. off-line in test benches 0. 0.6 over-boost 0.8.5 0.8.5 p Tot. = 0.0 + 0.7 = 0. bar The selection is correct because the total pressure drop value is inside the admissible range for top tank return filters. In case the allowed max total pressure drop is not verified, it is necessary to repeat the calculation changing the filter length/size. Generic filter calculation example Application data: Tank top return filter Pressure Pmax = 0 bar Flow rate Q = 0 l/min Viscosity V = 6 mm /s (cst) Oil density = 0.86 kg/dm Required filtration efficiency = 5 μm with absolute filtration With bypass valve and G / inlet connection Introduction

LMP95-95-95 GENERAL FORMATION Description Technical data Low & Medium Pressure fi lters Maximum working pressure up to.5 MPa (5 bar) Flow rate up to 000 l/min LMP95, LMP95 and LMP95 are ranges of low pressure fi lter with large fi ltration surface mainly suitable for lubrication, off-line fi ltration of the reservoirs and fi ltration equipment. Multiple LMP950 filters are connected to a manifold to reduce the pressure drop caused by the fi lter media and to increase the life time of the fi lter. They are directly connected to the lines of the system through the hydraulic fi ttings. Available features: - fl anged connections, for a maximum fl ow rate of 000 l/min - Base-mounting design, for ease of the replacement of the fi lter - Fine fi ltration rating, to get a good cleanliness level into the system - Water removal s, to remove the free water from the hydraulic fl uid - Bypass valve, to relieve excessive pressure drop across the fi lter media - Vent ports, to avoid air trapped into the fi lter going into the system - Drain ports, to remove the fl uid from the housing prior the maintenance work - Visual, electrical and electronic differential clogging indicators Common applications: - Off-line fi ltration of reservoirs - Filtration systems housing materials - Head: Anodized Aluminium - Housing: Anodized Aluminium - Manifolds: Welded - Phosphatized Steel - Bypass valve: Anodized Aluminium Pressure Test pressure:.5 MPa (5 bar) Bypass valve - Opening pressure 50 kpa (.5 bar) ±0% - Other opening pressures on request. p type - Microfi bre fi lter s - series N: 0 bar - Fluid fl ow through the fi lter from to.
