Description P/N or Spec. Supplier Purpose Scissors - Any Source Trim seat back panel. Loctite 40 Instant Adhesive 4004 Henkel Corporation Seal trimmed upholstery. Extrusion Gun Sealant (Refer to AMM 20-0) (Refer to Fay weld assembly. AMM 20-0) B. Remove seats. (Refer to AMM 25-0) C. Remove screws securing lower seat back panel on all seats. D. Partially remove leather seat coverings by turning covers inside out on all seats. E. Drill holes in the armrest weld assembles. (See Figure 0) () Install applicable armrest drilling guide tool (LH - T66860) (RH - T66848) on end of armrest weld assembly to achieve correct drilling angle of 60.4 ±.0. (2) Insert T-pin into guide hole of armrest drilling guide tool. Tool is correctly aligned when T-pin can slide through drilling guide tool and into mounting hole on armrest weld assembly. (3) Using #3 drill bit, drill 0.9 to 0.2 inch (3.023 to 3.073 mm) hole through near side of armrest weld assembly.06 inches (2.69 cm) from end, as indicated by drilling guide tool. (Refer to AMM 5-20) (4) Remove T-pin and tool from weld assembly. F. Repeat drilling procedure on each seat. G. Install armrests. () Install armrest weld assemblies. (See Figure 0) Install LH single armrest weld assemblies (item 3) on co-pilot side crew seat and RH passenger seat (Seat 3). (a) Install RH single armrest weld assemblies (item 2) on pilot side crew seat and LH passenger seat (Seat 5). Install double armrest weld assembly (item ) for middle passenger seat (Seat 4). Check fit of bushing (item 4) onto weld assembly. Permissible to cut slit into bushing if necessary to fit over weld. (b) (c) Using extrusion gun sealant, fay seal weld assembly (item ), (item 2), (item 3) mounting face to seat. (Refer to AMM 20-0) (See Figure 0) Wet install bolt (item 5), washers (item 6) and (item 7), and nut (item 8) securing weld assembly. (Refer to AMM 20-0) (See Figure 0) If slit was cut in bushing, orient slit approximately perpendicular to seat back. (d) Bond bushing (item 4) to carbon seat back using methacrylate 2-part adhesive. (Refer to AMM 5-30) (2) Install armrest pivot fitting (item 0) onto weld assembly. (See Figure 0) (a) Position o-ring (item 9) in opening on pivot fitting. (b) Position bushing (item 8) in opening on pivot fitting, centered in o-ring (item 9). Page 4
Hand tighten only. (c) Use bolt (item 20) and washer (item 6) to install pivot fitting (item 0) on end of weld assembly. (See Figure 0) (d) Secure fasteners with Loctite 242. (Refer to AMM 20-40) (3) Install motion stop (item 9) with screws (item 2), washers (item 27), and nuts (item 25). (See Figure 0) (4) Assemble armrest subassembly. Hand tighten only. (a) Attach RH and LH leather wrapped armrest (item 3) (item 4) to RH and LH armrest strut (item ) (item 2) with two screws (item 24). (See Figure 0) (b) Paint screw heads black with marking pen. (c) Bond magnet (item 7) onto RH and LH armrest strut (item ) (item 2). Prep surface of armrest strut (item ) (item 2). (Refer to AMM 5-20) 2 Bond magnet (item 7) to armrest strut (item ) (item 2) with methacrylate 2-part adhesive. (Refer to AMM 5-30) (5) Install armrest subassembly onto weld assembly. (a) Attach armrest guide (item 5) to RH and LH armrest strut (item ) (item 2) with screws (item 23) and washers (item 6). (See Figure 0) Permissible to add extra washers (item 29) as necessary to eliminate interference upon assembly. Armrest strut should be free to rotate. Torque requirements of AMM 20-0 do not apply. Screw threads must be fully engaged into armrest strut. (b) Attach armrest subassembly to weld assembly with screw (item 22), washers (item 29) (item 28), and nut (item 26). (See Figure 0) Completed assembly must rotate smoothly along full range of motion. H. Repeat armrest installation for each applicable seat. I. Trim upper seat back panel to provide clearance for armrest weld assembly. (See Figure 0) Opening should be no larger than 3 inches tall and no more than 4 inches from edge of part. (See Figure 0) () Mark area to be trimmed. (a) Place LH seat back trim tool (T66878) on LH side of seat back. (b) Slide tool into pocket on seat back and push upward. (c) Mark seat back along inner edge for trimming. (d) Remove and store tool. (2) Repeat marking procedure on RH side of seat back using RH seat back trim tool (T66849). (3) Use scissors to trim marked areas. J. Trim seat covering for armrest weld assembly. () Mark area to be trimmed. Page 5
(a) (b) (c) (d) (e) Position seat back into typically installed position. Position seat covering and trim flange near armrest to allow leather to lie flat against seat back. Position applicable closeout (item 30) (item 3) to confirm trimmed areas will be fully covered. (See Figure 0) Mark area to be trimmed. Repeat marking procedure on each seat. CAUTION: Ensure trimmed areas will be covered by armrest closeouts. (2) Use scissors to trim marked areas of seat covering. (3) Seal trimmed edges of seat covering with Loctite 40. (Refer to AMM 5-30) K. Install LH closeouts to each applicable seat (item 3). (See Figure 0) () Install seat back panel and secure with screws. (2) Apply Loctite 242 to screw threads (item 32). (See Figure 0) () Install seat back panel and secure with screws. (2) Apply Loctite 242 to screw threads (item 32). (Refer to AMM 20-40) (3) Attach RH closeout (item 30) to RH side of armrest tube with screw (item 32). M. Weigh passenger seats. N. Write seat weight on new placards (item 33) and replace placards on passenger seats. O. Install seats. (Refer to AMM 25-20) Only crew seat armrests affect basic empty weight of aircraft. Optional passenger seats affect loading data. (Refer to AFM Section 6: Weight and Balance) P. Using recorded aircraft weight, calculate and record new weight and center of gravity values on the Weight & Balance Record of the AFM. Q.
