5.0 OPERATION 5.1 OPERATIONAL CONTROLS The 135lb Stainless Steel Spreader has four controls. These are the Agitator Switch, Impeller Switch, Impeller Speed Control, and Hopper Cable. These controls can be operated while the spreader is in use. 5.1.1 AUX Control Panel The Hopper Cable is located to the left of the Agitator Switch. This Cable opens the Hopper Door when pulled upward and closes the Hopper Door when pushed downward. The Hopper Cable will only open as far as the Rate Control setting will allow. The Agitator Switch is located to the right of the Hopper Cable. It has a built-in light that indicates when it is on. Pressing the switch once will turn on the Agitator Motor mounted behind the Hopper Pressing it again will turn it off. Figure 1. Hopper Door Cable and Agitator Switch location Hopper Door Cable Agitator Switch For any questions please contact us at toll free (877) 482-2040 Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 21

5.1.2 Main Control Panel The Impeller Switch is a toggle switch located on the Speed Control Unit installed in the Main Control Panel. It has three modes, ON, OFF, and PULSE. Putting the switch in its down position (towards the operator) will turn the Impeller ON. The middle position turns the Impeller OFF. The up position (away from the operator) is used for PULSE mode. When it is in PULSE mode, the impeller will spin as long as the toggle switch is held in the up position. Letting it go, will return the Impeller to its OFF status. When the Impeller is on, it will rotate in whatever speed the Speed Control Unit is set to. Speed Control is adjusted via a rotary knob on the Speed Control Unit installed in the Main Control Panel. The rotary knob can be adjusted from settings one to ten, with ten being the fastest. This control should be dialed to the lowest setting before turning on the Impeller to reduce wear and tear on the motor. See section 5.2.2. Figure 2. Impeller Switch and Speed Control location Impeller Speed Control Impeller Switch For any questions please contact us at toll free (877) 482-2040 Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 22

5.2 SPREAD PATTERN ADJUSTMENT CONTROLS The 135lb Stainless Steel Spreader has four settings that can be adjusted to obtain the desired spread pattern, rate control, directional control, speed control and throw angle. These settings adjust for distance, density, direction and area. Since it is electrically driven, the spread pattern is independent of ground speed. It should be noted that these settings work together and the desired spread pattern should be observed while the machine is still. DO NOT attempt to adjust any of these settings, other than Speed Control, while the Impeller is spinning. 5.2.1 Rate Control Dial The Rate Control Dial is located on the front of the 135lb. Stainless Steel Spreader near the impeller. The Rate Control Dial setting controls the amount of product that is dispersed from the Hopper by adjusting how far the Hopper Cable can open the Hopper Door. The dial can be adjusted from settings zero through nine. The Rate Control setting primarily affects the density of the product spread in the coverage area. To adjust the Rate Control, pull the Dial Follower out as far as it will go and then rotate the dial to the desired setting. Push the Dial Follower in as far as it will go. Open the Hopper Door and visually inspect the Hopper Door opening. 2 1 3 4 5 For any questions please contact us at toll free (877) 482-2040 Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 23

5.2.2 Speed Control The Speed Control setting is a rotary knob located on the Speed Control Unit installed in the Main Control Panel. The speed control setting controls the length (distance) of the spread pattern by controlling how fast the Impeller rotates. This control also affects the density of the spread pattern. At the lowest speed, the product will be spread closer to the front of the machine with thicker coverage. As the impeller speed increases, the product will be spread farther from the front of the machine with thinner coverage. The spreader is capable of distances of 3-25 feet. Figure 3. Speed Control Unit Slow Fast Not to scale For any questions please contact us at toll free (877) 482-2040 Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 24

5.2.3 Directional Control The Directional Control setting is located on the front of the 135lb. Stainless Steel Spreader below the Rate Control Dial. The Directional Control setting controls the direction and width of the spray pattern by the orientation and width of the opening. The width of the opening also affects the density of the spread pattern as it will disperse the product over a wider area. Adjusting the angled handles with the index finger puts the thumb directly in the path of the impeller. To adjust the Directional Control safely, loosen the Hand Knob and grab the angled handles with your thumb (NOT the index finger) to slide both sides into the desired position before tightening. The leading edge of the spray pattern is controlled by the adjustment on the operator left. ***DO NOT attempt to adjust the Directional Control while the Impeller is spinning!*** 1 2 Minimum Opening Width Maximum Opening Width Figure 4. Spread Pattern Example Leading Edge Narrow Spread Pattern Wide Spread Pattern For any questions please contact us at toll free (877) 482-2040 Mon-Fri 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 25

5.2.4 Throw Angle The Throw Angle is the angle at which the product leaves the Impeller. This feature controls the distribution of the product within the spread pattern by adjusting the angle of the impeller blades. Adjusting the throw angle enables greater control of when product exits the spreader allowing for heavier coverage on the right, even distribution, or heavier coverage on the left side of the spread pattern. When the blades are positioned to the left, the throw angle is increased, positioning them to the right decreases the throw angle. Increasing the throw angle will enable more product to be released on the left side of the spread area as well as increase the spread width. Decreasing the throw angle will increase the amount of product on the left side of the spray area. The orientation of the Impeller Blades (right or left) is from the perspective of the operator. **Before attempting to change the throw angle, disconnect the negative battery cable** To adjust the throw angle, use a 1/2 wrench or socket to loosen the nut closest to the edge of the impeller and then remove the bolt. Slide the impeller blade to the desire slot and fasten. Manually rotate the Impeller to repeat for all impeller blades. Make sure ALL bolts are tightened. Figure 5. 5.3 SPREAD PATTERN SET-UP This section contains instructions on how to set up a spread pattern with the 135lb. Stainless Steel Spreader. Note that other conditions such as weather, operator driving speed, etc. can affect the spread pattern. Adjust accordingly. 1. Make sure Impeller Switch is in the OFF position and the Snowrator is OFF. 2. Check the Hopper to verify it is clean and free of product. If not, clean it with compressed air. 3.
