Acura Honors the 2015 Council of Sales Excellence Winners Celebration Highlights Acura s 30-Year Anniversary Honoring Success Acura s Gold and Gold Master winners in the 2015 Council of Sales Excellence (COSE) program capped off an outstanding year of achievement by celebrating in grand style April 19 21 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Winners and their guests enjoyed a two-night extravaganza, complete with a recognition and awards banquet, a business meeting and evening receptions. The COSE program recognizes and rewards Sales Consultants who rise above the ordinary in sales, client satisfaction and professional knowledge. This COSE event spotlighted Acura s high-performing Sales Consultants from 2015 on several levels: Top 50, Top Performer Sales, Top Performer Client Satisfaction, Gold Master, and Gold winners. Out of the 350 Gold and Gold Master winners in the 2015 COSE program, 289 Sales Consultants and their guests attended, during two evenings of events. A new Platinum level was announced for 2016 that includes 1,000 award dollars and a special recognition trip for two. For more information on the Platinum level and other awards, please visit COSE.ProgramHQ.com. Recognition Banquet and Award Ceremony On the first evening, guests were treated to a formal cocktail reception, where Sales Consultants mingled with their peers from across the country, Zone Managers and Acura executives. David Hendley, Vice President of Field Operations, gave the keynote address after recognizing and congratulating all the winners. He related a personal story about overcoming challenge, and how we all can reinvent ourselves. Today s business has different demands, he said. Do we need to re-create ourselves to appeal to our millennial audience? We need to be innovative and use tools like ipads and find ways to keep our clients loyalty. The evening s host, James Wong, Assistant Manager of Sales Training, congratulated winners by COSE level: Gold, Gold Master, Top Performer Sales, Top Performer Client Satisfaction, and Top 50. Acura Training Announces New Learning Center At the business meeting on the final day, James Wong spotlighted individual winners of the Top Performer Sales, Top Performer Client Satisfaction, and Top 50 awards. Tony Oborny, Manager of Sales Training, announced the launch of the new Acura Learning Center to go live on May 16. The Learning Center will offer a host of valuable resources, accessible from a central, online location with personalized training and a certification process. Tony made the point that Acura training, paired with mentoring, is a powerful combination to enable new Sales Consultants to quickly get on board, become oriented, effectively train, and develop into highperforming sales professionals. Jon Ikeda Keynote The highlight of the business meeting was a keynote presentation given by Acura Vice President and General Manager, Jon Ikeda. He talked about what Precision Crafted Performance means to Acura as it begins its next 30 years. See page 8 for more details. Attendees were treated to an in-person look at the highly anticipated 2017 NSX and the refreshed 2017 MDX, along with the rest of the 2016 vehicle lineup sporting the latest Acura accessories supplied by Todd Knepp from Accessory Planning. How To Get To Platinum What are you doing to get to Platinum level this year? Do you have a plan? Are you using all your available resources? 2017 MDX and NSX Racer Debut Acura makes headlines at the New York International Auto Show. b An Eye-Catching New MDX! Attendees at the New York Auto Show got an eyeful when Acura pulled the wraps off the new 2017 MDX, making it the first production model with the fresh, signature look. The distinctive diamond pentagon grille joins a more sharply sculpted hood and front fenders, coupled with restyled Jewel Eye headlights. The addition of twin tailpipes further emphasizes a reenergized performance character. All 2017 MDX models will benefit from increased standard luxury and technology features, including AcuraWatch on all grades, available 20-inch wheel and tire options and available genuine Olive Ash Burl or Black Limba wood interior trim. The 2017 MDX is slated to go on sale nationwide this summer and will be joined by the MDX Sport Hybrid later in the year. b John Mendel, Executive Vice President of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., presents the 2017 Acura MDX at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. b That s What We Said a Sport Hybrid, Too! The 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid is the third model to feature Acura s innovative three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain, joining the Acura NSX supercar and RLX flagship sedan to deliver the ultimate in power and control. The MDX Sport Hybrid is powered by a 3.0-liter SOHC V-6 engine mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (7DCT) combined with the Sport Hybrid System. Peak powertrain output of 325 horsepower is up 35 horsepower over the non-hybrid model. The MDX Sport Hybrid is expected to receive EPA fuel economy ratings of 25/26/26 (city/highway/combined), an estimated 7-mpg city fuel economy rating increase over the (non-hybrid) MDX with SH-AWD. b The NSX Is Ready to Race! The NSX is going racing! At the New York Show, Acura announced its plans to campaign the NSX supercar in North America starting in 2017 as an FIA GT3 class racecar. The NSX GT3 will be powered by a 3.5-liter, 75-degree, twin-turbocharged DOHC V-6 engine using the same design specifications as the engine in the production 2017 Acura NSX. Since the GT3 racing class rules do not allow all-wheel drive or a hybrid powertrain, those components will be removed, and the NSX GT3 racer will feature a 6-speed sequential-shift racing gearbox sending power to the rear wheels. The NSX GT3 racer will be joining a rich legacy of Acura sports car racing campaigns and championships, along with a pair of TLX GT cars Acura currently campaigns with Real Time Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge. Spring 2016 Acura Product and Technology Training Tour In case you missed it Behind the Desk Back in the classroom, attendees practiced overcoming sales objections to help everyone do competitive comparisons, regardless of experience level. They explored very specific advantages of Acura vehicles in contrast to competitors: What Happened? A lot! Participants experienced the thrill of driving the 2016 TLX and MDX and practiced using sales tools to help their presentations. The Competition Attendees drove the 2016 TLX and MDX and compared their impressions against the 2016 BMW 328i and the 2017 Audi Q7. Here are a few big-picture examples of how Acura matches up against these two key German competitors: Bigger and more display screens More intuitive controls/interfaces More storage space More comfortable seating More useable and convenient connectivity options BMW 3 Series Acura TLX Acura TLX vs. BMW 3 Series Roominess and comfort Cruise-control location Rough-feeling leather; uncomfortably firm seats Stalk-mounted control is partially hidden More comfortable seats and bolster; more rear seat room Steering wheel-mounted control Audi Q7 Acura MDX Acura MDX vs. Audi Q7 Use of controls (center console) Third-row seat access Extremely confusing and difficult to operate Multi-step process, not easy to operate for children Easy to understand and use Simple, one-step, pushbutton operation Acura ILX A-SPEC vs. Audi A3 with S line Display screen(s) Shifts Audi A3 with S line Acura ILX A-SPEC Just one display screen; no visor or shade to reduce glare Rough and unrefined a pause before each gear seems to kick in turbo lag is noticeable Two big display screens integrated into the dash; upper screen has a hood Much smoother shifts and more immediate response to driver input Acura RDX vs. Audi Q5 Display screen(s) Center console Audi Q5 Just one display screen; no visor or shade to reduce glare Tiny Acura RDX Two big display screens integrated into the dash; upper screen has a hood Huge and designed to hold a purse and other large items 04

What Else? The tour focused on details that included practicing driver-assist technology features, which is something you can do at your dealership. It is important to brush up on key features and learn their advantages, so you re able to show your clients the benefits. Concentrate on these: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow (not all models have LSF) Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Road Departure Mitigation Rearview camera Rear Cross Traffic Monitor Forward Collision Warning (FCW)/Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS ) Another skill rehearsed on the tour is describing and demonstrating Acura dynamic features, like these: Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD ) Agile Handling Assist Integrated Dynamics System (IDS) Electronic Power Steering (EPS) Delivery Satisfaction Technology is so advanced today that it can take time and repetition to understand. Frustration with technology sticks to clients like honey-covered fingers and reduces their satisfaction. Instead, demonstrate technology in ways that communicate Acura advantages and stick with the client long after the formal delivery is over. Two valuable tips are: Know your client. Make your presentation and delivery fit their individual everyday wants and needs. Use some sort of media device (like an ipad) as a tool to help explain a feature, benefit or competitive advantage. Surveys have shown this increases customer satisfaction. Experience It Online! If you couldn t go to a spring tour event, you can still gather chunks of knowledge to use with your clients through the sales training website. Check out www.acuralaunchtraining.com to get videos and download print pieces that will help you sell more Acura vehicles. Acura Acura Frontline I October I May 2016 2015 05 07

2017 Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI quattro What you need to know. The Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI quattro The second-generation Audi Q7 is all-new for 2016 as a 2017 model. It fits at the top of Audi s luxury crossover lineup above the Q3 and Q5. The Q7 comes standard with a supercharged 3.0-liter DOHC V-6 engine that puts out 333 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0-liter diesel engine is expected to become available later this year. All Q7s come standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Audi s quattro all-wheel-drive system. The platform is all-new and is not shared with other products in the Volkswagen Group. Extensive use of aluminum-alloy has reduced overall weight, but the base curb weight is still almost 5000 lb. The Q7 is available with a choice of three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. A number of new safety and driver-assist features are also available to make it more competitive in the segment. Although the Q7 offers a great deal of luxury and technology, its options are offered in pricey groups you can bring the MSRP well over the $85,000 mark. The Acura MDX has a simpler model structure that offers an array of standard features to best fit our clients needs and does so at a much lower price. The MDX offers more standard and available features, along with a 2-wheel-drive version for clients who don t need all-wheel drive. Both the MDX and Q7 offer shift-by-wire, but the shifter in the MDX is more intuitive and easier to use. While Audi is known for its advanced quattro all-wheeldrive systems, the Q7 cannot match the MDX s more advanced Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. What s New for the 2017 Audi Q7 New exterior and interior styling More powerful 3.0-liter V-6 engine Standard engine idle stop Standard Audi Drive Select with Comfort, Dynamic, Auto, Offroad, Allroad and Offroad Lift and Individual modes Available 4-wheel steering Available LED headlights Standard panoramic moonroof Available virtual cockpit instrumentation Available Bang & Olufsen 3D Advance audio system with 23 speakers and a 1920-watt amplifier Available Apple CarPlay 1 and Android Auto 1 Towing capacity up to 7700 lb. What Precision Crafted Performance Means to Jon Ikeda It s About Getting Into the Zone Acura Vice President and General Manager, Jon Ikeda, shared his vision for Precision Crafted Performance with Gold and Gold Master winners at the 2015 Council of Sales Excellence (COSE) celebration in Las Vegas. Precision Crafted Performance is about more than technology; it s about the driver experience, as Ikeda explained: Acura is now 30 years young, which isn t that old compared to other car companies. It s great to be young. The future is very bright, and we can t wait to see what the next 30 years will be. We re going back to our roots. In the beginning, we had core models like the Integra and Legend, and our halo vehicle the NSX on top. We added performance variants and strengthened our core models, and we did very well. We ve done some soul searching, and we know what we want to do now. We re bringing back Precision Crafted Performance. We kicked off our Precision Concept model in Detroit. Our design team wanted to share ideas we have for our upcoming products. I wanted to make sure we did it as a sedan instead of a coupe. There were huge positive sentiments around it. Next, we invited the media to the NSX Global Media Drive. What was the difference between our NSX and the other supercars out there? Our team focused on the client the driver. One of the test drivers had a smile on his face when he drove the NSX. He said he felt like he was in the zone. That s what our cars will do for you. The NSX and the technology in our vehicles is all about putting our clients in the zone. It s critical that everyone understands what Precision Crafted Performance is. This time it isn t just about the product. It s a behavior. What is the experience we re able to provide our clients? What does it mean to own an Acura? To create the Precision Crafted Performance experience for our clients, there are five characteristics we must focus on: BEING INNOVATIVE (TAKING RISKS) BEING ALLURING (ATTRACTING NEW CLIENTS TO OUR BRAND) BEING HUMAN-CENTERED (CREATING AN IN THE ZONE SALES EXPERIENCE) BEING DYNAMIC ACTING WITH ZERO DELAY We re putting some color and energy back into the brand. Mr. Honda decided a long time ago that he wanted to help make the world a better place. That s what this company s about being a company that society wants to exist. Please partner with us. You re part of the dream, and together we will make the world a better place. 08 Acura Frontline is published by the Auto Sales Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Sales Communications Department, solely as an informational aid for Acura Retail Sales Professionals.
