P a g e 2 ATTENTION: DIESEL FUEL USERS Have you noticed Smelly fuel? Water in your fuel? Diesel bug? Algae/bacteria? Slime in fuel tanks? Excessive black smoke? Nature itself adds to the problems of the end user of diesel, because fuel is handled several times before arriving in your tanks. At each handling stage there is a possibility of contamination by water or air borne microbes (cladisporium). It can also enter your fuel via breather pipes. Heated fuel returns from the injector lines to your fuel tank, which then cools and contracts, drawing in some moisture-laden air and fungal spores that then condensate, causing globules of water to run down to the bottom of the tank. The fungus, bacteria and yeast contaminates live at the interface of the fuel and water. Here they feed on the hydrocarbons in the fuel and multiply into masses of black, brown or dark green slime. As the individual spores die they fall to the bottom of the tank, forming sludge. This is what causes the major damage to the injector tips and pumps with corrosive scouring and pitting. The fungus may sit in the fuel system for a long time before conditions become ideal for propagation. Once ideal conditions are reached (water, fuel and temperature between 15ºC and 45ºC) growth is rapid. The first indication of infestation is usually constant filter blockage. The filter will be coated with a black or brown slime. Bulk fuel tanks (above or under ground) all have breathers on them. Temperature fluctuations between day and night causes moisture laden air and fungal spores to be drawn into the tank through the breathers. Fuelmaster acts on the water, making it become part of the fuel molecule, then it is burnt off harmlessly. The professional method of keeping your fuel uncontaminated is by using Fuelmaster complete fuel treatment. Fuel testing and analysis provided by Austech Industrial Solutions

P a g e 3 Fuelmaster SUPER CONCENTRATED COMPLETE FUEL TREATMENT Maintain peak engine performance, save time, money and the environment 1 litre treats up to 4,000 litres Benefits: Preserves, stabilizes fuel and extends storage life Inhibits heavy carbon deposits on piston crowns and exhaust valves Eliminates conditions for algae and bacteria growth Reduces particulate emissions Improves fuel economy and power Keeps fuel systems/injectors clean, ensuring uniform injector spray pattern Exceptional lubricity for low sulphur fuel Dissolves and prevents wax, gum, varnish and sludge Neutralises acids in aged or high sulphur fuel Lubricates top end, fuel pumps and injectors Reduces soot index Prevents tank corrosion Will not damage engines Will not affect engine warranty Doesn t change Government specifications for fuel Inhibits cold weather gelling Major reductions in maintenance costs Produced to Australian Standards AS9001 AUSTRALIAN MADE AND OWNED

P a g e 4 Fuelmaster SUPER CONCENTRATED COMPLETE FUEL TREATMENT Fuelmaster s advanced technology is a cost effective solution to managing fuel quality. Fuelmaster helps contain the escalating operating costs many operators of diesel engines are witnessing by improving fuel flow, ensuring uniform injector spray pattern, resulting in a more complete and efficient combustion cycle, thus improving power, economy, and achieving reductions in HC, CO and NO emissions. Fuelmaster keeps fuel lines and injector tips clean, ensuring correct spray patterns. The result is that fuel is burned more efficiently, with maximum power, and injectors lasting up to three times longer. Less fuel system wear because of the exceptional lubricity properties of Fuelmaster, especially with low sulphur diesel. Corrosion prevention by natural inhibitors blended into Fuelmaster improves colour stability and slows fuel ageing. Sulphuric, nitric and hydrochloric acids are reduced. Wax, gum, varnish and sludge are dissolved by Fuelmaster s natural dispersants, extending filter life. Fuelmaster contains no harmful aromatic solvents, alcohol, metals or dangerous biocides. Poor spray pattern Correct spray pattern Eliminates conditions for algae and bacteria growth ( diesel bug ). Contamination by water or airborne microbes (cladisporium) creates an environment in fuel tanks for this fungi to flourish. Fuelmaster acts on the water, making it become part of the fuel molecule, then it is burnt off harmlessly. Extended engine life by reducing the soot index. Engine oil stays cleaner when fewer harmful carbon deposits are accumulated. Major reductions in maintenance costs Caterpillar engineer states that reducing fuel consumption by just 2% is equivalent to cutting your maintenance costs in half. Improvements in fuel economy result in substantial savings. For example: Trucking company using 100,000 litres per month at $1.42/litre can save as much as $10,860 per month. Fuelmaster treatment pays for itself at only 0.3% to 0.5% fuel economy.

P a g e 5 Fuelmaster ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED FACT: All petroleum fuels are composed of Hydrocarbons. No matter which refinery, or how clean the fuel is, no matter what make of engine or how new it is, some of the hydrocarbon components in the fuel will form particles of gum, resin and carbon during the heat of the combustion cycle. It is these particles which react and combine with each other forming polymers, which are high in carbon and low in hydrogen. These particles cause fuel to burn incompletely (see Fig 5.1) creating the following effects: Unburned particles discharged as black exhaust Deposits on piston crowns, exhaust valves, upper ring areas and turbo charger blades. The advanced technology of Fuelmaster inhibits the formation of polymeric masses in fuels under the heat of combustion. The result is a cleaner, more complete and faster burn, with lower peak flame temperatures, and increased fuel efficiency. Emissions of HC, CO and NO are reduced significantly. P a g e 6 Fuelmaster SUPER CONCENTRATED COMPLETE FUEL TREATMENT FOR DIESEL & PETROL PROPERTIES Appearance : coloured mobile liquid ph : neutral Specific gravity : approx. 1.0 Boiling point : >120ºC Flash point : >65ºC Flammability : non-flammable Corrosivity : non-corrosive Toxicity : non-toxic. Skin & eye irritant Use Rate : 1:1,000 1:4,000 Fuel types : all hydrocarbon fuels Phosphate content : nil Metal content : nil Alcohol content : nil Aromatic solvent content : nil WILL FUELMASTER DAMAGE ENGINES? Answer: NO! Fuelmaster has been analysed through laboratory testing, proving that when mixed into diesel fuel, the finished product remains within all engine manufacturers required ASTM specifications and does not alter the Government regulations for diesel fuel specification. Consequently, Fuelmaster will not void any warranty of any diesel engine manufacturer.

P a g e 7 Fuelmaster & Engine Warranty Compliance Diesel engine manufacturers, including Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Caterpillar and EMD, typically do not recommend additive use, and for good reason. Aftermarket additives generally alter recommended ASTM fuel specifications. Common aftermarket additives often contain the following: alcohol or nitrate based cetane improvers, barium-laced smoke suppressants, biocides to kill algae these biocides are a poison and usually make fuel dryer (less lubricity). Metallics used to act as a catalyst can produce ferrous salts, which can be abrasive. Austech Industrial Solutions do not class Fuelmaster as an additive. Fuelmaster is a complete fuel treatment that does not alter the ASTM fuel specifications (see laboratory report below). Fuelmaster is: non-flammable, non-toxic, contains no metal, contains no phosphate, contains no alcohol and is ph-neutral. Fuelmaster used at the recommended ratio will not damage diesel or petrol engines, and will not void engine warranty.
