AUXILIARY STRUCTURE 1. DESCRIPTION The leading edge of the wing is manufactured from composite materials. This airplane has a one-piece wing with individual wing tips. The wing tips are manufactured from composite materials. Each strobe light power supply is secured inside the corresponding wing tip. Stall strips are installed along the inboard leading edge of wing cuffs on both wings and promote a more gradual stall, prolonging aileron effectivity under stall conditions. Serials 1886 & subs: A white recognition light is installed on the leading edge of each wing tip. All Page 1 15 Jun 2010
2. MAINTENANCE PRACTICES A. Wing Tip - Serials 1005 thru 1885 (See Figure 1) (1) Removal - Wing Tip (a) Set BAT 1, BAT 2, and AVIONICS switches to OFF positions. (b) Pull NAV LIGHTS and STROBE LIGHTS circuit breakers. Note: Place a pad between wing tip and top of wing to avoid damaging paint. (c) Remove screws securing wing tip to wing and slide wing tip outboard to remove. Carefully flip wing tip upside down and rest wing tip on top of wing. (d) Remove clamp securing braided ground strap to wing wire harness conduit. (e) Disconnect wire harnesses. 1 Remove cable ties securing braided ground strap to wing wire harness. 2 Disconnect navigation light connector. 3 Disconnect power connector from strobe light power supply. 4 Serials 1005 thru 1316: Remove strobe light power supply mounting screw securing wire harness terminal ring. 5 Serials 1317 thru 1885: Disconnect terminal ring connector and remove cable tie securing wires together. (f) Remove wing tip from airplane. (2) Installation - Wing Tip (a) Connect wire harnesses. 1 Connect power connector to strobe light power supply. 2 Serials 1005 thru 1316: Position terminal ring between strobe light power supply and shear web and secure with screw. 3 Serials 1317 thru 1885: Connect terminal ring connector and install cable tie securing wires together. 4 Connect navigation light connector. (b) Wrap braided ground cable around wire harness and secure with cable ties. (c) Burnish wing conduit to ensure proper contact between braided ground strap and conduit. (d) Position braided ground strap to wing conduit and secure with clamp. (e) Verify resistance from anti-collision strobe light assembly to airplane ground is less than 4 ohms. If resistance is greater than 4 ohms, remove braided ground strap and repeat conduit burnishing. (f) Position wing tip to wing and secure with screws. (g) Reset NAV LIGHTS and STROBE LIGHTS circuit breakers. (h) Verify proper anti-collision strobe light operation. Page 2 15 Jun 2010 Serials 1005 thru 1885
B. Wing Tip - Serials 1886 & subs (See Figure 1) (1) Removal - Wing Tip (a) Set BAT 1, BAT 2, and AVIONICS switches to OFF positions. (d) Disconnect wire harnesses. 1 Disconnect recognition light connector. 2 Disconnect navigation light connector. 3 Disconnect power connector from strobe light power supply. 4 Disconnect terminal ring connector and remove cable tie securing wires together. (e) Remove wing tip from airplane. (2) Installation - Wing Tip (a) Connect wire harnesses. 1 Connect power connector to strobe light power supply. 2 Connect terminal ring connector and install cable tie securing wires together. 3 Connect navigation light connector. 4 Connect recognition light connector. (b) Position wing tip to wing and ensure wing tip fully engages mounting clips on wing. (c) Install screws securing wing tip to wing. (d) Reset NAV LIGHTS and STROBE LIGHTS circuit breakers. (e) Verify proper anti-collision strobe light operation. (f) Verify proper recognition light operation. Serials 1886 & subs Page 3 15 Jun 2010

C. Stall Strips - Serials 1005 thru 1885 (See Figure 2) WARNING: Airplane is rendered unairworthy and may not be flown with stall strip(s) removed. (1) Removal - Stall Strips (a) Acquire necessary tools, equipment, and supplies. Description P/N or Spec. Supplier Purpose Blunt-Edged Chisel - Any Source Stall strip removal. Sandpaper 400-grit Any Source Adhesive removal. Isopropyl Alcohol - Any Source Solvent cleaning. (b) Using chisel, remove stall strips from wing. (c) Lightly sand wing to remove residual adhesive. (d) Solvent clean wing surface with isopropyl alcohol. (2) Installation - Stall Strips CAUTION: When reinstalling a stall strip that has become dislodged from wing leading edge, if exact location of previously installed stall strip is not apparent, i.e. through the lack of adhesive remnant or discoloration in area of previous installation location, install the stall strip in accordance with the following steps and contact Cirrus Design to schedule a test flight by a Cirrus certified test pilot. If location of previously installed stall strip is readily apparent, install the stall strip in same location in accordance with the following steps. No test flight is required.
