Grade five Lebanese school Final Revision worksheet Name: Date: June, 2017 Ch.11, Ch. 12, + summary of Ch. 17+18 These following questions are already solved in class. Answers are in the classwork copybook. Please solve them alone and then compare the answers with the solved ones. Take into consideration the time taken (4 pages in one hour), and make sure you use specific scientific terms. 1- Use the following diagram to describe the respiratory rhythm during respiration: 1

2- Fill in the following table to compare and contrast Blood cells: Properties RBCs WBCs Platelets Similarities Shape Color constituents Differences Role Drawing Title: 2

3- Draw a diagram that represents the process of blood circulation using the following legend: The lungs and the rest of the body organs as two rectangles. The heart as a square and label its parts. The names of the 2 veins and 2 arteries. Title: 3

4- Observe the following picture and answer the questions below: Accumulation of fats Formation of a blood clot A B C a. What do we call the heart diseases? b. What are the causes of these diseases? c. Explain briefly the above document using the cases indicated in A,B & d. What are the consequences of such diseases? e. How can we prevent these diseases from occurring? 4

5- Label the parts of the heart, and the names of the blood vessels. Relate the blood vessels to the lungs and the organs correctly. Lungs Body organs 6- Check whether the following sentences are true or false then correct the false ones: a- The two terminals of the battery must be connected to one terminal of the lamp. b- The lamp is the source of the electric current. c- An open circuit can be closed if the switch is opened. d- Air is a conductor of electricity and allows the passage of a current. 5

7- Use the pictures to answer the questions below: a- Change the following picture into a diagram: b- A battery and two more lamps are added to the above circuit. Draw the new diagram obtained. 8- Electricity: A- The following circuit is incorrect: draw the diagram of this ciruit correctly to light up the bulbs: 6

B- Rami prepared two separate closed circuits. He joined the wires to different substances and obtained the following diagrams: a- Which diagram shows the circuit that will work normally and light up the bulb? Explain your answer in both cases. b- What can you say about the type of iron objects and that of a wooden object? Justify your answer. 9- Nancy joined the following circuits separately: Help Nancy to identify the lamp that will light up. Justify your answer. Figure 1: Figure 2: Figure 3: Figure 4: 7

10- Circuits: a- Draw and label a parallel circuit with four bulbs, switch and two batteries. b- Draw and label a series circuit with two bulbs, switch and one battery. c- What are the differences between a parallel and a series circuit? d- Which is the best type of connection that can be used in schools, houses and companies? Justify your answer. 8

11- Ammeters: Aim of the experiment: To differ between the action of an Ammeter in parallel and series connections. Materials : Batteries Electric bulb Electric wires Switches Ammeters Procedure: Construct two circuits according to the following: Parallel circuit: made up of two batteries, a switch, electric wires, three Ammeters (A, A1, A2) and two bulbs. Join each bulb to an Ammeter. Series circuit: made up of two batteries, a switch, electric wires, two Ammeters A1 and A 2, and two bulbs. a. Drawing form of the result: (label the diagram) Title: 9

b. Name the device used to measure the intensity of electricity. And indicate how to connect it with the battery poles. The value of the Ammeter A in the parallel circuit was 420 ma. While the value of A1 is 200 ma. c. Calculate the Value that will be given by A2. d. The value given by the Ammeter in the series connection is 180 ma. What is the value given in the second Ammeter? Justify your answer. e. What can you deduce from the action of the Ammeters in the series and the parallel connections in the above results? Explain your answer. 10

II- Intensity of Electricity in Parallel and series circuits: Aim of the experiment: To differ between the action of an Ammeter in parallel and series connections. Materials : Batteries- Electric bulb- Electric wire Switches - Ammeters Procedure: Construct a parallel circuit made up of two batteries, a switch, electric wires, three Ammeters (A, A1, A2) and two bulbs. Join each bulb to an Ammeter. a. Drawing form of the result: (label the diagram) Title: The intensity of the Ammeter A1 in the above circuit was 320 ma, while the value of A2 is 370 ma. f. Calculate the Total intensity of the Ammeter A in the above circuit. What can you conclude? 11

The above circuit was remodeled and changed into a series connection. The intensity of the ammeter A1 was 450 ma. g. Draw the new circuit obtained. h. Predict the values that will be given in Ammeters A and A2 in Amperes. i. What can you deduce from the action of the Ammeters in the series connections? Justify your answer. Good luck in your Final Exam! 12
