Brooklin Spring Fair 2019 1 Demolition Derby Rules for: MINI SUPER STOCK CARS 2019 Demolition Derby General Rules 2019 Mini Super Stock Cars The Demolition Derby will be held on THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2019 at the Brooklin Arena in Brooklin at 7:00 P.M. SHARP! In the event that this Derby is cancelled, the Brooklin Spring Fair Board will not be liable. There is no rain date. These rules replace all previously issued rules and are subject to change without notice. 2019 Mini Super Stock Cars - Vehicle Prep Rules Vehicles Allowed 1. Any, 4 or 6 cylinder hardtop or station wagon car is allowed. 6 cylinder cars must have a wheel base of 106 or less. 4 cylinder cars do not have a wheel base limit as long as it is stock. 2. No sedagons or other seriously altered body designs. 3. No year restriction as long as the wheel base is within the regulations. 4. No 8 cylinder vehicles. 5. No all wheel drives or 4 x 4 s. 6. As in all Brooklin Spring Fair classes, a vehicle ownership must be on hand in case of vehicle issues. Vehicle Prep ALL DRIVERS MUST ATTEND DRIVERS MEETING PRIOR TO ANY HEAT OR DRIVER WILL BE DISQUALIFIED 1. Preparation of the vehicle must occur before the vehicle arrives at The Fairgrounds. This includes painting of the frame repairs. 2. The Demolition Derby Officials decision is final when inspecting vehicles. Do not put yourself in a disqualification position by bending or ignoring rules. 3. All 4 x 4 patches or similar repairs, plates to be a max ¼ thick. 4. All repairs must be with stock style components. No reinforcing. 5. All flammable material must be removed from the cab area except the dash, driver s seat and seat belt. This includes carpeting, headliner, door panels and trim. All debris, including in the doors and trunk must be removed. 6. All air bags to be removed. 7. Trailer hitches and frame reinforcements must be removed.

2 8. All glass, windows, mirrors, trim, lights, antennas, ornaments, bezels, interior and exterior must be removed (including bulbs). 9. The AC system must be drained. 10. The cooling system must be flushed of antifreeze and replaced with water only. Radiator to be in its original position or removed. The over flow tube must be secured and direct the coolant to the ground. Radiators may be protected with the stock AC condenser or a light steel screen or mesh no wider than the radiator. Guards are permitted by using 2 x 2 1/4 angle iron bolted or stitch welded to the rad support in 4 locations. Stock type radiators only. 11. Belt driven fans must be removed and replaced with electric fans. 12. Driver s door must be painted white, passenger optional (for ease of seeing the number). 13. A CSA approved fire extinguisher, with properly functioning gauge, (ABC) must be properly secured within reach of the driver. 14. One 12 volt battery must be properly secured to the front passenger floor board area in a box. This area must be clear of all fuel system parts. Once the inspection has been completed, this battery will be covered with a non-flammable material, shield to control possible splashes. One 12V battery only. 15. The stock fuel tank must be removed with all loose fuel lines and straps. It is to be replaced with a C.S.A. approved, steel marine fuel tank, plastic approved fuel tank, custom fuel tank or racing fuel cell. The replacement fuel tank will be positioned in the rear seat area centered between the sides. It will be held securely in place, no leaks, and will be covered with a non-flammable splash cover after the inspection. No movement will occur when inspected. GAS TANK PROTECTORS (GTP) can be welded to the seat bar and extend to the rear seat area. Bar MUST be 2 away from the sheet metal on a fresh car and MUST not alter the sheet metal to achieve this. Protector bars MUST be 8 away from the doors and can t be attached to the sheet metal. GTP to be free floating off the seat bar. GTP must be 6 away from the rear window bar on a fresh car. GTP NOT to extend towards the rear window any higher than the package tray/speaker shelf. 16. All fuel lines must have leak proof fittings with steel or approved fuel rubber lines (no clear lines). Lines must be inside the vehicle if possible, secured and protected. For electric fuel systems a clearly visible RED safety shut off switch or the pump only, must be installed on the roof or dash in the centre of the windshield for officials, safety purposes. The fuel pump must be isolated, and all components covered with a non-flammable material. Any leaks, at any time, will result in an immediate disqualification. 17. Hoods must remain open for inspection. A 12 hold must be cut in the centre of the hood. Hoods must be fastened down in a maximum of 8 places with threaded rod, seat belt material, wife and chain or bolted to the fender. No welding. Hood latches may be removed. Hoods or rad supports may be wired to the bumper in 4 locations.

3 18. Metal may be removed from the wheel openings for clearance. Front fenders and rear quarter panels may be bolted with 5, 3/8 bolts maximum per panel washers ½ maximum. No Body Creasing. 19. All doors must be fastened shut with chain, wire or seat belt straps in a maximum of 8 locations. All doors may be welded in place with 3 x 3 plates. 20. A 12 x 60 x ¼ max plate will be used on the driver s front doors outside. Reinforcing the driver s side is mandatory. Passenger side optional. Padding on the driver s door inside is highly recommended. No channel or angle iron allowed. These door plates will be fastened on in 8 locations maximum with ¾ bolts and flat washers maximum. Any additional reasonable guarding on the driver s door will be allowed. 21. The trunk or tailgate must be fastened shut using ¾ threaded rod, chains or wire or seat belt material in a maximum of 8 locations. The trunk or tailgate may be welded. If it is welded a 12 hole must be cut in the centre of the trunk for inspection purposes. Trunks or tailgates may be wired to the rear bumper in 3 locations as part of the 8 total. Plastic bumper covers must be removed. 22. All openings in the firewall must be plugged with similar gauge metal. Large holes in the floor may be securely patched with a similar gauge metal. Do not reinforce. Driver s seat may be tied to the roof or door post to prevent breaking. No welding of interior panels except for repair purposes, patching. 23. Drive tires must be low aggression on al l4 wheels. Tread depth must be ¼ or less on drive wheels. BREAKING OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. Tires must be air filled only. No split rims, no solid tire, no welding stem protectors, bead locks, fastening of tires to rims, studs. All wheel weights must be removed. Tires may be doubled. NO triple sides on the drive wheels. 24. All rubber stock body mounts and stock sized bolts required. Repairs to the body must be done with similar gauge metal, no reinforcing. 25. The front window opening must have a minimum of 1 single steel bar or chain from the cowl or parcel shelf or similar surface, to the roof, bolted or welded. Maximum bar size 2 x 2. A traditional A or H structure may be used but this must not be used to reinforce the area, just protect the driver. The rear window opening may use a 2 x 2 tubing, bolted or welded to the roof and no further back than the centre of the trunk area. Caution regarding reinforcing as opposed to guarding. 26. Rear bumpers must be of stock design or removed. Rear bumper shocks may be welded to prevent falling off or reinforced by flat steel or tubing, do not overly reinforce. The last 6 inches of the sub frame may be improved to keep the bumper but do not overly reinforce. See rule 27 regarding wiring. Plastic bumper covers must be removed. Plastic bumper covers must be removed. 27. Front bumpers OPTION A: Front Bumpers may be replaced with any reasonably sized car bumper of the same length and approximate year, as your vehicle. Bumper shocks may be reinforced with tubing or flat steel to keep them attached. The last 6 inches of the sub frame may be improved to keep the bumper but do not overly reinforce. See rule 23 regarding wiring. OPTION B: You may also run just a piece of

4 square/round tubing instead of a bumper it can t be any wider than 50 and be 4 x 4 or 3 x 5. All other rules apply to fasten it to the frame. 28. Transmission coolers OPTION A: These are permitted but must be secured in the engine compartment and covered with a non-flammable cover to protect the driver and volunteers from hot pressurized oil. The transmission dipstick must be secured in place, wired down or have an overflow tube directing the fluid to the ground. OPTION B: These may also be behind the driver s seat. It must be securely fastened and covered completely with a sheet metal shroud. 2, 1 minimum holes must be made in the floor directly beneath the cooler. Hoses must be protected and covered with non-flammable material that will withstand pressure. Hoses must be rated at 250 PSI single brad hydraulic hoses with press fittings only rated at 250 degrees F. 29. ONE roll bar up each door frame, inside or across outside of the roof. Roll bars going across the roof can be bolted/welded to the roof. The roll bar may be welded or bolted to the inside of rockers or to the frame. Down bars off the seat/side bars can extend down to the floor/frame. Feet on bottom of down bar no bigger than 5 x 5. MUST no way come in contact with transmission/engine cross member. If bolted in the washers on bottom no longer than 2. ONE additional bar may be added behind the seat welded or bolted from roll bar to roll bar. ONE bar may also extend down the inside of both front doors and be welded to the dash bar for safety creating a square around the driver. No excessive use of materials. SINGLE bars only. Not mandatory. Cage not to extend past back of driver s seat. Bar over roof cannot be attached to any other bar on the car except the rear seat bar. Not to the rear window bar, dash bar, side bars or front window bar. A bar can run between the seats joining the dash and seat bar together for mounting the shifter. This bar must be attached to anything else. ALL cage/halo/gtp material 4 max round or square tubing. 30. One Dash Bar, may be mounted, max 4 square/round tubing mounted door frame to door frame. Dash bar must not touch the centre section of the firewall. Down bars off the dash/side bars can extend down to the floor/frame. MUST no way come in contact with transmission or engine cross member. If bolted in, the washers top and bottom no larger than 2. Not mandatory. 31. Suspension must remain stock, but can be solid without reinforcing the frame or suspension parts. No spring blocks or added helpers. Gears may be welded. Steering columns, drive shafts and rear sway arms may be altered but not reinforced. Ball joints, struts, control arms and steering linkage must remain stock. NO INTERCHANGING STRUTS, STOCK axles, STRUTS and all steering/suspension components. No coil spring cars converted to leafs springs. Rear ends can be swapped but not to reinforce car. NO welding on rear end except gears. MUST use stock mounting points. Parts may be interchanged with stock style mini car parts-tie RODS may be reinforced with angle iron/square tubing. A 3 x 3 MAX square tube can be welded to the frame behind the front strut only. This must be ¼ away from the strut on a fresh car. Strut cylinder can be welded to gain solid suspension and ride height but not to reinforce the strut itself.

5 THIS Ruling IS FOR FRONT AND REAR. No reinforcing cross members. No truck rear ends. 5 lug rear ends only. STOCK AXLES. No modifying or welding axle CV joint. NO reinforcing any rear trailing arms or suspension unless proven bent or broke. No threaded rod or extra bolts from rear cradles to body or frame. 32. Rusty or bent frames may be repaired with steel no thicker than ¼ and no larger than 4 x 4. Plates may be placed and welded on frame or front engine cross member. This must be individual plates NOT ONE LENGTH OF METAL. Max of 4, 4 x 4 plates total PER SIDE. Plates can be positioned any way required to repair a frame, not reinforce. Just no more than 4 plates per side. Over repaired frames will be considered reinforcement and will result in disqualification. Official s discretion. Frame repairs must be painted with a bright colour before arriving at the event. All repairs to the frames must be reported to officials before inspection. If not may result in disqualification. Trailer Hitch must be completely removed. No reinforcing cross members. NO FRAME SHORTENING. NO FRONT OR REAR KICKERS. NO FRAME TILTING. There will be, No hump plates on mini cars. No stuffing of frames. No welding frames to K frames. 33. Engine swaps allowed. Max engine in this class is a 6 cylinder. Engine/trans mounts can be reinforced. NOT to reinforce the frame or body and to similar size to the stock ones. NO EXTRA MOUNTS ADDED. Any excessive or added mounts will result in disqualification. 2 extra chains (3/8 ) may run from engine to frame area between rad support and firewall (upper control arm area) in case a motor mount breaks. No extra chains, wires or straps from engine or transmission to the frame or body. Reinforement of frame or body will result in disqualification. Motor swaps can t reinforce the frame in any way. No Exceptions. 1 x 1 (1/8 thick wall ONLY) square tube can be fastened to the drive train, engine cradle or cross member to protect the drive train. NO more than 36 in total length and can ONLY be used in one spot to protect ONE component. EXAMPLE: Can be welded side to side on an engine cross member on a Sunfire or welded to the cross member on a Camry to protect the shifter linkage. Protection can ONLY be used from the strut towers forward. This is NOT to reinforce the body or the frame. If tech deems your reinforcing the body or frame you will be made to cut. No engine cages, distributor protectors or trans braces of any kind. STOCK ENGINE CRADLES/SUBFRAMES. NO INTERCHANGING SUBFRAMES. NO EXTRA BOLTS OR BOLT SIZE CHANGES. Have a Question?
