Arab Union of Electricity Date of Establishment: 1987 Aims and Objectives: 1- Improving and developing the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy in the Arab World. 2- Developing, improving and coordinating the areas of interest of its members and strengthening the relationship among them. AUE includes 29 Active members from all Arab Countries.

Main events in 2013 The 4th general conference of AUE in Qatar Date: 7-9/1/2013. Two main activities were accompanied the Conference: Seminar with the title of Renewable Energy and Smart Grids: Future Solutions of Electric Power Exhibition with more than 40 local and foreign companies. Renewable Energy Workshop. Jordan March, 2013. 3rd Training Course in Renewable Energy: Jordan September, 2013. Training course in Algeria November, 2013 Board of Directors meetings
Participating in the second electricity trading forum between Gulf Countries in Dubai April, 2013. Nuclear energy workshop in Tunis June, 2013 Attending a number of conferences, Workshops and meetings in the rejoin. Committees Meetings Updating : Statistical bulletin, Electricity Magazine, Power Stations Manual, Tariff Manual.
Main events in 2014 Issuing : Statistical bulletin, Power Stations Manual, Tariff Manual. Interconnection Maps. Signing contract with a media company to publish and distribute the electricity magazine. 4 issues per year. Committee meetings Board of Directors meetings Enabling Renewable integration in the electricity systems workshop ( Tomorrow ), in cooperation with STEG,MEDELEC and Dii in Tunis. Energy efficiency and energy conservation Forum in Qatar 17-18/ 11/2014. Participating in the meetings of MEDELEC, IRENA, LAS and take part in the studies they are carrying out.
Recommendation Ladies and Gentlemen, It is the time now to change our thinking and attitudes towards the cooperation between Europe and Arab Countries in the electricity sector from one region in the Arab Countries ( Mediterranean Region) to all Arab Countries including the GCC Countries. GCC Countries now having ambitious plans in Renewable energy exceeds some Mediterranean Arab Countries. The new interconnection between Egypt and Saudi Arabia is the first step to interconnect GCC Countries with Europe.
It is easy to change the names of the different bodies and organizations by changing MED into Arab. Such as: Medring = Arabring, Medelec = Arabelec, Medreg = Arabreg, Medtso = Arabtso and so on
