New fuels Volvo Group s research on renewable fuels is mainly focused on DME (dimethyl ether) and methane diesel. DME, which can be extracted from waste, biofuel and agricultural waste, is energy efficient and has a low environmental impact. Compared with diesel, carbon emissions are expected to be reduced by up to 95% Volvo Penta Dept. CB22400 Service Communication AT 8 2014-07-28

Building a better boat by design Because design parameters differ for boats with Volvo Penta IPS than with traditional inboard shafts or other kinds of propulsion, Volvo Penta offers boat builders the design assistance of its Sales Engineering Marine team (SEM). Volvo Penta strives to be leisure boat builders preferred partner, and one valuable service the company offers that most competitors do not is guidance from its Sales Engineering Marine (SEM) team during the OEM s design and engine integration phase. Throughout the project, sales engineer and SEM team is in regular contact with the boatbuilder, along with local application engineer. We receive project data, which we then process in software we created ourselves to predict boat performance, speed and behavior. The team then sea trial the boat using advanced GPS equipment and add the resulting measurements into their calculations. These calculations will be input to a database to improve predictions for future projects. Based on the results of its trials, Volvo Penta is able to give boat builders recommendations for design modifications. And because Volvo Penta has been working in this area since 2004 and its boat design expertise is well-known among leisure boat manufacturers the OEMs listen. After all, it s better to take Volvo Penta s advice early in the process than to wait until after the sea trial stage to make corrections.

Heitgaasid, kui mustad? 4 Hj, 95 okt bensiin, niitmine üks tund = 150hj, 95 okt bensiin, 200 km maanteesöitmist! NB! Kui muruniitjal on katalüsaator ja tarvitad akrülaat bensiini siis heitgaasid on kuni 90 % puhtamad! CO 2 osa on ikka sõltuv kütuskulust!

THE ADBLUE CONCEPT IS BEING DEVELOPED TOGETHER WITH THE OIL AND CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES AdBlue is filled in a separate tank on the truck, located alongside the standard diesel tank. Within a few years, AdBlue will be able to be topped up at all fuel stations that sell diesel fuel. In comparison with diesel fuel, AdBlue does not take up a lot of space. With a 4% blend, 1000 litres of diesel fuel will require just 40 litres of AdBlue. The consumption of AdBlue always remains in fixed proportion to the consumption of diesel fuel. Tanks for AdBlue are available in various volumes from 30 to 120 litres. The tanks are made of aluminium or plastic. Solutions for delivery and refuelling are ready Volvo is working with leading oil and chemical companies to create intelligent solutions for a distribution network and for handling of AdBlue. There are many suppliers and they offer complete tank systems and equipment that are already available for delivery. Until the infrastructure for AdBlue is fully built, Volvo s dealership network will be able to offer a convenient and cost-effective system for our customers AdBlue supply. If the engine is parked for a long time in severe cold, the fluid will freeze, but it will warm up and defrost once the engine is started. Note that the engine s starting ability is not affected in any way. AdBlue is part of the aftertreatment system and all that happens is that the exhaust gases are not fully filtered until the engine and exhaust system reach normal operating temperature. Urea is a natural ingredient in our environment The active substance in AdBlue urea is made from natural gas. Urea is a white crystal powder that is also found naturally in the environment. It is a stable and non-toxic substance that has no restrictions concerning either storage or transport. NOTICE! AdBlue is a registered trademark of the Verband der Automobilindustrie e.v (VDA) Available in jerrycans AdBlue is also available in plastic jerrycans and can be transported like any other spare-fuel jerrycan. Quality-assured according to set norm AdBlue is a stable, colourless and water-like fluid. It is nontoxic and odourless. AdBlue is thoroughly quality-assured and meets DIN norm 70070. The fluid consists of 32.5% urea diluted in deionised water. The concentration of 32.5% has been chosen because this is the ideal ratio with regard to the freezing point, which is 11 degrees Celsius. Stored in heated tanks in cold climates At lower temperatures, AdBlue is stored in heated tanks. The hoses and couplings are also heated to ensure system dependability. 6
