Tilt/Rocking Base User Manual May 2007 1

Congratulations You have purchased the durable, easy to clean Snug Seat tilt/rocking activity base. Please read this manual before using the product and keep the manual on hand for future reference, as it contains important information. Warning: You must read and fully understand your Platypus User s Manual before using the Tilt/Rocking Base. We at Snug Seat strive to manufacture highly functional easy to use, peer-level products that aid in proper development of children throughout the world. Thank you for your business. If you have any concerns, or additional questions, please visit www.snugseat.com, or call customer service at 1-800-336-7684. Warnings Failure to comply with these instructions and warnings could result in injury or death. Always ensure a child is secured in the Platypus Activity Chair utilizing the supplied seat belt prior to use. Periodically check all fasteners to make sure they remain tight. Never leave child unattended in the tilt/rocking base. Do not ingest plastic or plastic shavings. The tilt/rocking base is designed to be used on flat (level) surfaces. Do not pick up the tilt/rocking base while its seat is occupied. The tilt/rocking base is designed to support only one occupant at a time. The rocking motion of the base can make it difficult for some children to get into and out of the Platypus Activity Chair. Always supervise and /or assist children during transfer. Material and Cleaning Instructions The tilt/rocking base is made of an easy to clean, non-toxic, polyethylene plastic material. It will not rot, swell, or delaminate. This material is environmentally stabilized and color-fast to seal out moisture and resist UV damage. The tilt/rocking base is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use. To clean the tilt/rocking base simply wipe with soap and water or any non-abrasive cleaner. Limited Warranty All Snug Seat products are warranted against defects in workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Snug Seat, Inc. will repair or replace at its discretion, at no cost to the user, any defective parts returned to Snug Seat, Inc. or an authorized agent. 3

Understanding the Gear Locking System The gear locking system of the tilt/rocking base is made up of the locking key (a), the drive gear (b), and the locking paddles (c). a b Figure 1 When locking key is turned, the drive gear rotates and forces the locking paddles to move in and out. a c Figure 2 Paddles in chair lock position Figure 3 Paddles in chair release position When the locking paddles are in the chair lock position (figure 2), the locking key (a) will move down and lock itself into place. This is to prevent the locking paddles from becoming inadvertently moved out of the chair lock position. In order to return the paddles to the chair release position, lift the locking key (a) up approximately ½ before turning it. (a) locking key Figure 4 4

Mount the Platypus Activity Chair onto the Tilt/Rocking Base Place the Platypus Activity Chair on the Tilt/Rocking Base as shown in figure 5 below. The feet of the Platypus and the feet of the Tilt/Rocking Base should align and touch. Figure 5 Turn the locking key until the paddles are in the chair lock position as shown on the previous page (figure 2). Ensure the locking key drops down and locks itself against accidental release if necessary, push the key downwards to fully engage lock. After locking the chair attempt to lift it from the base. The chair should remain locked to the base. Warning Failure to ensure the seat is properly secured could result in the chair disengaging from the tilt/rocking base resulting in occupant injury or death. NOTE: Remember the key must be lifted up approximately ½ before it can be turned to release the chair. Please see figure 4 on preceding page. 5

Adjusting the position of the Tilt/Rocking Base heads and tails The Tilt/Rocking Base can be configured to accommodate multiple positioning needs. Changing the configuration of the Tilt/Rocking Base is accomplished by changing the position of the heads and tails. A simple pin (a) locks the heads and tails into four different positions on the base. See figure 6. (a) Figure 6 Figure 7 The heads and tails both move as a pair. The pins must be removed from both heads and both tails before they can be moved. It is important all four pins are re-inserted after the change.
