Target group These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by authorised BMW service companies. In any event the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations. Installation information Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. The installed cables are to be secured with cable ties. Installation time Approx.,5 hours, but this may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. . To install and connect the AUX connector wiring harness in E46 cars All holes must be drilled precisely as shown in the illustration. Drill a hole () in the rear of the glove compartment () with an 8 mm twist drill bit. Drill the holes () using a mm twist drill bit. 46 4 Z Insert branch A/C in the glove compartment () and secure it to the mounting plate D with a knurled nut (). A/C D Secure the mounting plate D to the glove compartment () using Philips screws E. E 46 5 Z Drill a hole () in the trim () with a mm twist drill bit through which you can thread the AUX connector wiring harness. 4. To install and connect the AUX connector wiring harness in E9 cars All holes must be drilled precisely as shown in the illustration. Drill a hole () in the rear of the glove compartment () with an 8 mm twist drill bit. Drill the holes () using a mm twist drill bit. 9 57 Z Insert branch B/C in the glove compartment () and secure it to the mounting plate D with a knurled nut (). B/C Secure the mounting plate D to the glove compartment () using Philips screws E. E D 9 58 Z X86 Cars with SA 66+65 only Connect branch B to plug X86. 5. To install and connect the AUX connector wiring harness in E5 cars All holes must be drilled precisely as shown in the illustration. Drill a hole () in the trim () through the rear of the glove compartment with an 8 mm twist drill bit. Open the glove compartment and enlarge the hole () to a diameter of mm. 5 88 Z Insert branch B/C in the glove compartment () and secure it to the mounting plate D with a knurled nut (). B/C Mark the mounting holes and drill them with a mm twist drill bit. Secure the mounting plate D to the glove compartment () using Philips screws E. 6. Concluding work and coding This retrofit system does not require coding. - Connect battery - Conduct a brief test with DIS/GT - To conduct a function test - Connect an external audio source to the pawl socket in the glove compartment - Press the "MODE" button several times until "AUX" appears in the display - Start the playback of the external audio source The volume and sound settings can be adjusted using the radio. If traffic bulletins from the radio have been activated, the audio signals from the external audio source will be interrupted when any such bulletins are broadcast. - Re-assemble the car EN/
