The engine powers a generator whih in turn provides urrent to the drive motor via an eletroni speed and power regulator. This eletri drive has the following advantages: The truk holds the speed set by the foot pedal. It makes no differene whether it is travelling up hill or down. This makes for safe driving and simplifies operation. Beause the travel speed is ontrolled independently of the lift speed, fast hoisting and slow driving (inhing) an take plae at the same time without speial equipment. This is ompletely free of wear, saves on operating osts and simplifies operation. Wear free braking down to a standstill and holding the truk in position when at rest is ahieved through the drive. Even when the floor is far from level, the R 70 will remain stationary until the drive pedal is depressed. Holding the truk with the brake pedal is not neessary. This simpliity of operation redues strain on the driver, who an onentrate fully on positioning the fork tips or the load. R 70 Tehnial Data. Servie brake. Servie brake. The servie brake is a maintenane-free, multiple dis brake whih runs in an oil bath and is thus free of wear. The truk is silent in operation and will never need new brake linings. The multiple dis brake is enapsulated to protet it from dirt and water. Re-adjustment is a thing of the past. Thanks to the maintenane-free, silent, multiple dis brake, the normal serviing osts for brakes are done away with. This means that overall maintenane osts on the R 70-20 ompat are redued by up to 30%. Eletris. The modern eletrial system works digitally. The exhange of information between eletrial assemblies, e.g. between the drive ontroller and the okpit, is ahieved using the CAN bus system already used suessfully in road vehiles. The number of ables and plug onnetors is redued in omparison with the previous system and the reliability inreased. In addition to this, the ease with whih additional eletrial equipment an be fitted is greatly enhaned. Driver s ompartment. Constant researh and development have deisively improved the driver s ompartment in the R 70: The okpit has an LCD display plus a pre-seletion faility for the drive harateristis. The driver an selet the most suitable aeleration or braking and travel speeds from five pre-set options. Simple hanges to the software allow the drive parameters to be adjusted to suit the appliation onditions and the turnover of goods. Foot pedals arranged as they are in a ar.* No familiarisation needed. The driving harateristis of the R 70 allow the truk to be held on a gradient or on uneven roadways without touhing the hand or foot brakes. This means, for example, less damage when loading or unloading lorries. Roomy foot well with inlined floor plate and non-slip rubber matting. Automotive style hand brake is fitted to the right of the driver s seat. Operation is made simpler and easier for the driver beause driving and braking are regulated with just the drive pedal. Fork arriage: Completely redesigned for this truk, gives a lear view onto the load being piked up, thanks to its optimised profiles. The hydrauli hoses for attahments are run in the dead visibility area of the mast setions with no hose reels for wear-free operation. Steering. The free moving, fully hydrauli power steering provides great manoeuvrability and thus a high turn round of goods. Overhead guard. The overhead guard is available in different designs so that the R 70 is adaptable to the widest variety of appliations and driver requirements. The STILL lear view mast and good all round visibility give the driver the best seurity against running into objets. The new R 70 omplies with all appliable EC safety requirements and regulations. The R 70 features STILL s ASM diesel-eletri drive tehnology omprising an enapsulated 3-phase asynhronous tration motor, whih gives the ustomer many benefits: Diesel-eletri drives are partiularly eonomial for many reasons The fuel itself is optimally utilised even when the diesel engine is operating under partial load onditions. This means partiularly good onsumption figures. Maintenane osts are redued: the engine always runs at the optimal speed to give the required torque output with minimal wear; also, the ASM drive is torque output with minimal wear. Zwillingsbereifung Wear free braking to a standstill is ahieved through the drive, as is holding the truk in position when at rest. Even when the floor is sloping or uneven, the R 70 will remain stationary as long as the driver does not depress the drive pedal. Holding it with the brake pedal is not neessary. This simplifiation of operation takes the strain off the driver and allows him to onentrate on positioning the fork tips or the load. Plugging without tyre wear is possible thanks to the eletri drive ontroller. The R 70 is friendly to the environment thanks to a diesel engine whih always runs within its optimum torque range. Emissions are redued to a minimum.

R 70 Tehnial Data. Diesel-eletri drives with ASM tehnology have a very high level of availability and are suitable for severe appliations by virtue of the enlosed drive unit and a greatly redued number of moving mehanial parts. There is no hydrauli or mehanial transmission present. The benefit of this type of drive lies in ompletely smooth and effiient aeleration regardless of the load or external temperature. Using one of 5 drive programs the driver an sensitively adjust the driving harateristis to different transport requirements at any time whilst travelling. This inreases both throughput and safety. The driver an aelerate and brake with the drive pedal, in addition to whih the R 70 will hold the speed set by the drive pedal. This means that operation is simplified. Fast hoisting and slow driving (inhing) an take plae at the same time without speial equipment beause the travel speed is ontrolled independently of the lift speed. This is ompletely free of wear, saves on operating osts and simplifies operation. The driving harateristis of the R 70 allow the truk to be held on a gradient or on uneven roadways without touhing the hand or foot brakes. Servie Brake. The servie brake is a maintenane free multiple dis brake whih runs in an oil bath and is thus free of wear. It will never need new brake linings and is also silent in operation. The multiple dis brake is enapsulated to protet it from dirt and water. Readjustments are a thing of the past. The maintenane free, silent, multiple dis brake does away with the serviing osts ommon to other brakes, whih onstitute up to 30% of the overall maintenane osts of a truk. Eletris. The state-of-the-art eletrial system works digitally. The exhange of information between eletrial assemblies, e.g. between the drive ontroller and the okpit, is ahieved using the CAN bus system already used suessfully in many roadgoing vehiles. The number of ables and plug onnetors is redued in omparison to the previous system and the reliability is inreased. In addition to this, easier and more effetive serviing is possible using omputer diagnosis. Driver s Compartment. Constant researh and development have deisively improved the driver s ompartment in the R 70: The okpit has an LCD display and pre-seletion faility for the drive harateristis. The driver an selet the best aeleration and braking harateristis, as well as travel speeds, from 5 pre-set options. Other adjustments an be made to the drive parameters to suit the appliation onditions and the turn round of goods by simply altering the software. Foot pedals arranged as they are in a ar*. No familiarisation needed. Roomy foot well with inlined foot plate and non-slip rubber matting. Adjustable steering olumn and longitudinal and rake adjustment of the seat provide an extremely omfortable working position for any physique. R 70 Tehnial Data. Drive. The generator oupled to the engine generates urrent and feeds the drive motor through an eletroni speed and power regulator. The drive has the following advantages: The truk holds the speed set by the foot pedal regardless of diretion of travel and gradient. This makes for safe driving and simpler operation. Beause travel and lift speeds are ontrolled independently, fast hoisting and slow driving (inhing) an be performed simultaneously without speial equipment or undue driver skill. This operation is wear-free, saves on operating osts and simplifies operation. Wear-free braking down to a standstill is ahieved through the drive, whih holds the truk in position when at rest. As long as the pedal is not depressed, the R 70 will remain stationary. Even on a slight gradient, holding it with the brake is not neessary. This simpliity of operation makes it easier and safer for the driver, who an onentrate on positioning the fork tips and the load. Driving harateristis are set by the driver by means of a dashboard mounted ontrol. Five positions vary the response from fast to slow fast aeleration and strong braking for maximum performane an be swithed down through five settings to gentle aeleration and braking for handling deliate or sensitive goods. Thus the R 70 is readily adaptable to all working onditions a benefit exlusive to STILL s unique drive and ontrol system. Eletri drive gives proven reliability, long omponent life and low maintenane osts. Engine. Water ooled four ylinder DEUTZ engine features a speially designed low rotation fuel injetion system to give high fuel eonomy returns with low exhaust emissions. As an option, partile filters offering 96% effiieny an be fitted to prevent the emission of soot partiles. Internal or external regeneration is available, depending on the appliation. Mast. STILL lear view masts in telesopi, HiLo and triplex designs are available to suit every appliation: Telesopi: ost-effetive design, suitable for most appliations. Nested I-beam mast setions with integral hoist ylinders and in-line rear mounted lift hains give the slimmest mast setion and thus the best lear visibility.
