Installation IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THIS PRODUCT BE INSTALLED BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN CUTTING THE FLEXIBLE STRIP TO SIZE MEASURE THE EXACT LENGTH OF LUMUL LED FLEXIBLE STRIP THAT YOU REQUIRE. LUMUL LED FLEXIBLE STRIPS CAN BE SAFELY CUT TO SIZE WITH SHARP SCISSORS ON DEMARCATED CUTTING LINES. YOU CAN EASILY CUT THROUGH THE OUTER SILICONE SLEEVE AS WELL AS THE FLEXIBLE STRIP IN ONE CUT. CUT ONLY ON THE CUTTING MARK, LEAVING COPPER CONNECTORS EXPOSED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CUT. IF YOU ARE CONNECTING TWO IP67 STRIPS, CUT THE SILICON SLEEVE BACK ABOUT 2MM ON ONE OF THE STRIPS BEING JOINED, BEING CAREFUL NOT TO CUT OR DAMAGE THE INTERNAL STRIP. SOLDERING WIRES ONTO THE STRIP COPPER CONNECTORS THE END OF THE STRIP CONTAINS TWO SMALL ELONGATED COPPER CONNECTORS WHICH ARE EASY TO SOLDER ON TO. PRE-TIN THE CONNECTORS AND WIRE ENDS INDIVIDUALLY USING A HOT SOLDERING IRON AND SOLDER. RUN THE WIRES THROUGH SMALL HOLES IN THE END CAP. SOLDER THE WIRES ONTO THE TINNED CONNECTORS, ENSURING THEY ARE FIRMLY SOLDERED. DO NOT APPLY THE SOLDERING IRON TO THE FLEXIBLE STRIP FOR TOO LONG OTHERWISE YOU RISK DAMAGING THE COMPONENTS. SOLDERING TWO STRIPS TOGETHER THE END OF THE STRIP CONTAINS TWO SMALL ELONGATED COPPER CONNECTORS WHICH ARE EASY TO SOLDER ON TO. PRE-TIN THE CONNECTORS ON BOTH STRIP ENDS USING A HOT SOLDERING IRON AND SOLDER. PLACE A CLEAR ½ HEAT SHRINK SLEEVE OVER THE ONE STRIP SILICONE SLEEVE PUSHING IT AWAY FROM THE AREA OF WORK AND HEAT. PLACE THE TWO STRIPS TOGETHER, ONE OVERLAPPING THE OTHER SLIGHTLY WITH THE COPPER CONNECTORS PERFECTLY IN LINE. PULL THE HEAT SHRINK OVER THE JOINED AREA AND HEAT EVENLY WITH A HEAT GUN. SEALING THE END OF THE FLEXIBLE STRIP THE IP67 STRIP IS ENCLOSED WITHIN A WATERPROOF SILICONE SLEEVE. IF THE STRIP IS TO BE USED OUTDOORS OR IN A WET ENVIRONMENT IT IS IMPERATIVE TO PROPERLY SEAL THE END OF THE STRIP IF YOU HAVE CUT THE STRIP TO SIZE. LIBERALLY SPREAD A 1CM RIDGE OF SILICONE GLUE AROUND THE OUTER PART OF THE END OF THE SILICONE SLEEVE. FIT A SILICONE CAP ONTO THE GLUED STRIP END, CAREFULLY PULLING THE WIRES TIGHT, APPLY FURTHER SILICONE GLUE AROUND THE HOLES WHERE THE WIRES ARE PROTRUDING. ALLOW TIME TO DRY PROPERLY. APPLY FURTHER SILICONE GLUE AROUND THE JOINT TO ENSURE ALL PORTIONS ARE COVERED AND WATERPROOFED. ENSURE ALL EXPOSED WIRE CONNECTIONS ARE PROTECTED FROM WATER AND THE ELEMENTS USING APPROPRIATE WATERPROOF CONNECTORS, ALTERNATIVELY USE SILICONE GLUE AND A HEAT SHRINK SLEEVE.
Installation MOUNTING THE FLEXIBLE STRIP LUMUL LED FLEXIBLE STRIP IS IDEALLY MOUNTED USING LUMUL SILICONE MOUNTING BRACKETS AND STAINLESS SCREWS. MAXIMUM STRIP LENGTHS DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM STRIP LENGTH DUE TO VOLTAGE DROP WHICH WOULD RESULT IN DIMMER LEDS. MAXIMUM 10M OF 12V FLEXIBLE STRIP IN SERIES WHEN POWERED FROM ONE END & 20M WHEN POWERED FROM BOTH ENDS. POWER SUPPLY WHILST MANY LED PRODUCTS CLAIM TO HAVE LIFESPANS OVER 30,000 TO 50,000 HOURS IT IS USUALLY THE POWER SUPPLY WHICH WILL FAIL SOONER, THEREFOR IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE INSTALLATION TO LAST YEARS, ENSURE YOU PURCHASE A GOOD QUALITY POWER SUPPLY SUCH AS THE LUMUL RANGE OF POWER SUPPLIES. YOUR FLEXIBLE STRIP REQUIRES A 12V CONSTANT VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY, UNLESS YOU HAVE SPECIFICALLY PURCHASED A CUSTOMISED 5V OR 24V FLEXIBLE STRIP. IT IS IMPERATIVE TO ENSURE THAT YOU UTILISE A CORRECTLY SIZED POWER SUPPLY FOR YOUR 12V STRIP. AN UNDER-SIZED POWER SUPPLY WILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE PREMATURE FAILURE. TO EXTEND THE LIFESPAN OF YOUR POWER SUPPLY, DO NOT CONSUME MORE THAN 80% OF THE MAXIMUM POWER RATING OF THE POWER SUPPLY.
