Introduction: The FAST-FLASH programmer for the 2003 and newer 6.0L Ford Power Stroke Turbo Diesel is a very simple instrument to operate. All operations take place inside the vehicle with the programmer hooked up to the OBD II port. Operating this programmer does not require any mechanical background. While operating this programmer we encourage you to simply follow the instructions provided on the screen. This instructions booklet provides you with detailed descriptions on how to perform programmer operations, and it is split up into easy to read sections labeled with headings. Once you have downloaded a power program into your vehicle, remember to always keep the programmer in the vehicle. You may need to change the power program or check and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Notice: Do not use this product in conjunction with any other electronic chip or downloader that is intended to enhance vehicle performance. The power program must always be removed before taking the vehicle in for any kind of service, as it may interface with diagnostic tools used by your dealer. Make sure that your key is in the off position before you plug the programmer into the vehicle. The programmer will prompt you to turn the key to the run position. 2. Connect the programming cable to the programmer and then into the OBD II port. The OBD II port is the diagnostic port located underneath the dash on the driver side of the vehicle. 3. Watch the programmer light up to display its first screen. Then follow the instructions given to you on the programmer screen. Main Screen: The main screen gives the user two options to choose from: 1. DOWNLOAD: Select this option to install a power program, remove the vehicle speed limiter, and adjust transmission shifting. 2. DTC s: Select this option to view and erase diagnostic trouble codes. Download Function: Select the download option from the main menu and turn the key to the run position without starting the vehicle. The programmer will then read and save the vehicle s stock information. Once the read is complete, the programmer will display a list of power settings available. Use the up/down arrows to move through and select a power program. The power table on page one describes the specifications of each power level. Speed Limiter: FAST-FLASH gives racing enthusiasts the option to remove the OEM speed limiter. This allows the vehicle to reach speeds in excess of where the OEM speed limiter was set, usually at 98 mph. By selecting yes to remove the speed limiter you agree that your vehicle has tires, suspension, and any other necessary modifications rated for speeds in excess of 140 mph. Warning: This modification is intended for race purposes only, and should never be used on a public road or highway. Transmission Tuning: FAST-FLASH offers 3 different transmission tuning options to facilitate added horsepower over stock and to make your driving experience more enjoyable. The descriptions below describe our recommendations of use with each of the three different options. (-) FIRM AGGRESSIVE: For quick and firm shifts. This application will benefit those who use their trucks for drag racing and competition pulling. The firmness and quickness of shifts will increase significantly over stock. This application works well with high performance aftermarket transmissions. We do not recommend that this application be used while towing.
(+) SMOOTH AGGRESSIVE: Enjoy the feel of a shift that is smoother than stock. This application is perfect for the non-aggressive everyday driver or those who tow on a regular basis. This application is most effective when used within the power settings 50 to 80. (Y) STOCK SHIFT: We do not recommend using the stock shifting application with any power setting above 50. Returning To Stock: Plug in the programmer and select the download option from the main menu. Once in the power level selection menu highlight 0 and press Y. Then follow the instruction set out on the programmer. When finished, the programmer will have returned the vehicle to stock power level with the speed limiter intact and the transmission shift patterns to stock. DTC Function (Diagnostic Trouble Code): Once selected from the main menu, the DTC function will display all diagnostic trouble codes on your vehicle. This function allows you to read and erase trouble codes stored in vehicle s ECU. To erase DTCs, simply press Y, and all DTC codes will be erased. If no DTCs are displayed, just unplug the programmer and cycle the key. Recurring Trouble Codes you may encounter: P0603 P1000 * Both codes are time delayed codes which may erase over time, but can not be erased by the FAST- FLASH programmer. Recovery Mode: In the event that FAST-FLASH goes into recovery mode, take the following steps to recover. 1. Press Y to recover 2. If an error code is displayed unplug the programmer, wait ten seconds, and then plug it back in. 3. Once the programmer has been plugged back in, it will again display a prompt to enter recovery mode, press Y. 4. Programmer will recover vehicle by returning it to stock. 5. Once vehicle reaches stock, the downloading process can safely be restarted.
Relearning Your Transmission: For your transmission to work properly with the programmer it must be recalibrated. Warning: You must complete this entire procedure or you may encounter problems with the transmission. By recalibrating the transmission through the following procedure you allow it to learn how the programmer delivers power. 1. Find a long straight road with very little traffic. 2. Come to a complete stop and put the programmer on its highest setting. 3. Moderately accelerate to 55 mph. 4. Allow the vehicle to shift into overdrive and while in overdrive, maintain a speed of 55 mph for 15 seconds. 5. Then lightly apply the brake just enough to engage the brake lights, hold brake lights on while maintaining 55 mph for another 15 seconds. 6. Then come to a complete stop for 20 seconds. 7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 five additional times. 8. Then drive normally and enjoy your FAST-FLASH Programmer.
