REAR DISC OVERHAUL Overhaul the RH side by the same procedure as the LH side. 1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 2. DRAIN FLUID Wash the brake fluid off immediately if it comes into contact with any painted surface. 3249 320JB01 C80694 3. REMOVE DISC PAD KIT REAR (PAD ONLY) (a) Remove the clip, antirattle spring No.1 and antirattle spring No.2. (b) Remove the 2 pad guide pins and disc brake pads with antisqueal shims. (c) Remove the antisqueal shims from each pad. 4. REMOVE DISC CYLINDER ASSY REAR LH (a) Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake cylinder, then disconnect the flexible hose from the disc Gasket has 2 types: 2piece type and 1piece type. (b) Remove the 2 bolts and disc C80689 5. REMOVE REAR DISC CYLINDER MOUNTING COLLAR (a) Remove the 2 cylinder mounting collars from the disc 6. REMOVE REAR DISC BUSH DUST BOOT (a) Remove the 3 bush dust boots. 7. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT (a) Using a screwdriver, remove the set ring and cylinder boot. F09682 1930

REMOVE REAR DISC DISC PISTON (a) Place a piece of cloth or similar, between the piston and the disc (b) Use compressed air to remove the piston from the disc CAUTION: Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air. Do not spatter the brake fluid. 9. REMOVE PISTON SEAL (a) Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal from the Do not damage the inner cylinder and the cylinder groove. F09684 10. INSPECT CYLINDER AND PISTON (a) Check the cylinder bore and piston for rust or scoring. 12. INSPECT PAD LINING THICKNESS (a) Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness. Standard thickness: 10.0 mm (0.394 in.) Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm (0.039 in.) F09681 13. INSPECT DISC THICKNESS (a) Using a micrometer, measure the disc thickness. Standard thickness: 9.0 mm (0.354 in.) Minimum thickness: 7.5 mm (0.295 in.) F42820 1931

REAR DISC 3251 Matchmarks 14. REMOVE REAR DISC (a) Make matchmarks on the rear disc and the axle hub. (b) Remove the rear disc. 15. INSTALL REAR DISC (a) Aligning the matchmarks, install the rear disc. Select the installation position where the disc has the minimum runout. F41555 16. INSPECT DISC RUNOUT (a) Temporarily fasten the disc with hub nuts. Torque: 103 N m (1,050 kgf cm, 76 ft lbf) (b) Using a dial indicator, measure the disc runout 10 mm (0.39 in.) away from the outer edge of the disc. Maximum disc runout: 0.15 mm (0.0059 in.) (c) If the disc runout is the maximum value or greater, check the bearing play in the axial direction and check the axle F42821 hub runout (See page 303). If the bearing play and axle hub runout are normal, adjust the disc runout or grind it on a Oncar brake lathe. 17. TEMPORARY TIGHTEN REAR DISC BLEEDER PLUG (a) Temporarily tighten the bleeder plug, and install the bleeder plug cap to the disc 18. INSTALL PISTON SEAL (a) Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease on a new piston seal. (b) Install the piston seal to the disc 19. INSTALL REAR DISC DISC PISTON (a) Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease on the piston. (b) Install the piston to the disc Do not screw the piston forcedly in the disc C80692 20. INSTALL CYLINDER BOOT (a) Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease on a new cylinder boot. (b) Install the cylinder boot to the disc Install the boot securely to the grooves of the cylinder and piston. (c) Using a screwdriver, install the set ring. Do not damage the cylinder boot. 1932

3252 REAR DISC Disc Brake Cylinder 21. INSTALL REAR DISC BUSH DUST BOOT (a) Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease to seal surface of 3 new bush dust boots. (b) Install the 3 bush dust boots to the disc Bush Dust Boot Bush Dust Boot Disc Brake Cylinder F40025 22. INSTALL REAR DISC CYLINDER MOUNTING COLLAR (a) Install the 2 cylinder mounting collars. C80689 23. INSTALL DISC CYLINDER ASSY REAR LH (a) Install the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts. Torque: 46.6 N m (475 kgf cm, 34 ft lbf) (b) Install a new gasket and flexible hose with the union bolt. Torque: 29 N m (296 kgf cm, 21 ft lbf) Gasket has 2 types: 2piece type and 1piece type. Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the 24. INSTALL DISC PAD KIT REAR (PAD ONLY) If necessary, replace the antisqueal shim kit when replacing the brake pad. (a) Apply disc brake grease to inside of antisqueal shims, and install the antisqueal shims on each pad. (b) Install the inner pad with the pad wear indicator plate facing upward, and install the outer pad. There should be no oil or grease on the friction surface of the pads and the disc. (c) Install the 2 pad guide pins. 1933
