Forest River Office of Corporate Compliance ( OCC ) has decided that a noncompliance exists in certain 2016 through 2017 model year Cardinal CAF3455RL, CAF3825FL & CAF3850RL fifth-wheel recreational vehicle. What is the noncompliance? The subject vehicles Federal Placards indicate an incorrect Tire and Rim combination. The Federal Placard indicates ST235/80R16 LRE Tires with 80 PSI and a rim designation of 16X6.00JJ, while the subject vehicles received LT235/85T16 LRG Tires with 110 PSI and a rim designation of 16X6.00HD. The capacity of the tire(s) are de-rated by dividing the listed rating by 1.10 for use in a recreational vehicle fashion. Evaluation of the risk to the vehicle related to the recall. The operator may under-inflate the tire based on the information printed on the Federal Placard. Underinflating a tire may lead to pre-mature tire degradation, a tire blowout, reduced handling, and a potential of a crash. What is Forest River and our Dealerships going to do? The replacement part(s) for your vehicle/towable are included with this mailing. Forest River is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall remedied at any Forest River dealership, however it is preferable if you have your selling dealership preform the remedy. Your cost for the remedy is completely covered by Forest River, you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number. What should you do? Please call your dealer without delay and request a service appointment to schedule the free repair. Forest River wants you to have this safety recall completed on your vehicle. The vehicle owner is responsible for making arraignments to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. How long will the remedy process take? The estimated time of repair is.10 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date in order to fit into their normal service schedule. If you have previously paid for a repair that addresses the subject noncompliance under recall described in this letter, you still need to have this recall performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were used. Wipe off the area where the labels were located with isotropic alcohol. Peel the new labels off the backer and carefully place the labels on the side of the unit where the incorrect labels were removed, do not forget the CCC label at the entry door.
