Set Condition: The FCM detects high voltage on the Transfer Case Motor Control Circuit for 2 seconds. Possible Causes INTERMITTENT TRANSFER CASE MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT OPEN (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT OPEN (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT SHIFT MOTOR/MODE SENSOR ASSEMBLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FRONT CONTROL MODULE Diagnostic Test 1. DTC IS ACTIVE Ignition on, engine not running. With the scan tool, select View DTCs. Is the status Active for this DTC? Go to 2 Go to 14 2. (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

Page 3 of 13 Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly connector. Remove the Front Control Module (FCM) from the Integrated Power Module (IPM). Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly connector. Is there any voltage present? Repair the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit for a short to voltage. Go to 3 3. (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

Page 4 of 13 Measure the voltage of the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly connector. Is there any voltage present? Repair the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit for a short to voltage. Go to 4 4. SHIFT MOTOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE AT FCM CONNECTOR

Page 5 of 13 Turn the ignition off. Connect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly connector. Measure the resistance between the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit and the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit in the FCM connector of the IPM. Is the resistance between 40 and 100 ohms? Go to 13 Go to 5 5. (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT OPEN

Measure the resistance of the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit from the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector to the FCM connector in the IPM. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Go to 6 Go to 7 6. (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT OPEN (IPM)

Measure the resistance of the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit from the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector to the Integrated Power Module C5 harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Repair the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit for an open. Go to 12 7. (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT OPEN

Page 8 of 13 Measure the resistance of the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit from the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector to the FCM connector in the IPM. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Go to 8 Go to 9 8. (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT OPEN (IPM)

Measure the resistance of the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit from the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector to the Integrated Power Module C5 harness connector. Is the resistance above 5.0 ohms? Repair the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit for an open. Go to 12 9. (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (T316) SHIFT MOTOR

Page 10 of 13 CONTROL B CIRCUIT Measure the resistance between (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit and the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Go to 10 Go to 11 10. (T315) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (T316) SHIFT MOTOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT (IPM)

Page 11 of 13 Disconnect the Integrated Power Module C5 harness connector. Measure the resistance between (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit and the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? Repair the (T315) Shift Motor Control A circuit for a short to the (T316) Shift Motor Control B circuit. Go to 12 11. SHIFT MOTOR/MODE SENSOR ASSEMBLY Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring and connectors that pertain to this circuit. Were any problems found?

Page 12 of 13 Repair as necessary. Replace the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor assembly in accordance with the Service Information. 12. INTEGRATED POWER MODULE Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring and connectors that pertain to this circuit. Were any problems found? Repair as necessary. Replace the Integrated Power Module in accordance with the Service Information. 13. FRONT CONTROL MODULE Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring and connectors that pertain to this circuit. Were any problems found?

Page 13 of 13 Repair as necessary. Replace the Front Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. 14. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring and connectors. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test. Were any problems found? Repair as necessary. Test complete.
