2011 - JS - CHRYSLER 200-3.6L V6 V.V.T. 23 - Body / Instrument Panel / PANEL, Instrument/Removal REMOVAL NOTE: Avenger shown, 200 typical, except where noted. 1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the A-Pillar trim (1). Repeat on the opposite side. 3. Unfasten the instrument panel wiring harness connector from the A-pillar and disconnect from the roof wiring harness, if so equipped. 4. Remove the lower cowl trim panel, (Refer to 23 Body/Interior/PANEL, Cowl Trim - Removal). 5. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove the I/ P end cap (1). Repeat on the opposite side. 1
6. Remove the outlet vent. Repeat on the opposite side, (Refer to 24 - Heating and Air Conditioning/ Distribution/OUTLET, Air - Removal). 7. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, disengage the retaining clips and pull up and rearward to remove the defroster grille (1). 8. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove and disconnect the HVAC controls (1). 2
9. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove and disconnect the console front storage bin (2). 10. Remove the floor center console front fasteners (1). 11. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove the shifter trim bezel (1). 12. Open the center console bin lid and remove the console bin liner. 13. Remove the bolts (1) located inside the console bin. 3
14. Lift up on the rear of the center console (1), disconnect the wiring harness and remove. 15. Remove the fasteners (1) securing the lower steering opening trim cover (2). 16. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, disengage the retaining clips on the lower steering opening trim cover (2) and remove. 17. Remove the lower steering column shroud, (Refer to 19 - Steering/Column/SHROUD, Steering Column Removal). 18. Pull rearward to disengage the retaining clips and remove the instrument cluster trim bezel/upper steering column shroud (1). 19. Remove the steering column as an assembly, (Refer to 19 - Steering/Column - Removal). 4
20. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, pull upward to disengage the retaining clips and remove the center bezel hood (1). 21. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, disengage the retaining clips, disconnect and remove the center trim bezel (1). 5
22. On vehicles so equipped, remove the fastener (2) from within the center stack opening, securing the inner lower corner of the instrument cluster hood (1) to the instrument panel. 23. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, pull rearward to disengage the retaining clips and remove the instrument cluster hood (1). 6
24. To remove the instrument cluster on 200 models it will necessary to remove the driver side instrument panel bezel, (Refer to 23 - Body/Instrument Panel/ BEZEL, Instrument Panel, Driver Side/Removal). 25. Remove the instrument cluster (1), (Refer to 08 Electrical/8J - Instrument Cluster - Removal). 26. Detach the tether, push in on sides and remove the glove box door (1). 27. Remove the push pin fasteners (2) securing the hush panel/silencer (1). 28. Remove the silencer (1). 7
29. Remove the fasteners (2, 3, 4, 5) and remove the glove box module (1). 30. Remove and disconnect the radio (2), (Refer to 08 Electrical/8A - Audio and Video/RADIO - Removal). 31. Remove the fasteners (2) securing the radio support bracket (1). 32. Remove the radio support bracket (1) from the radio cavity. 8
33. Disconnect the occupant restraint control module harness, (Refer to 10 - Restraints/MODULE, Occupant Restraint Controller - Removal). 34. Disconnect the left hand vehicle wiring harnesses to the I/P connectors (1,2 and 3). 35. Unfasten the instrument panel wiring harness (1) routing clip from the left side of the HVAC housing (2). 9
36. Disconnect the amplifier connectors (2 and 3). 37. Disconnect the RH vehicle wiring harnesses (1, 4) from the I/P connectors (2, 3). 10
38. Disconnect the antenna harnesses (3) from the I/P connectors (2, 4). 39. Detach the shifter interlock cable (1) at the I/P. 40. Disconnect the shifter interlock cable (1). 11
41. Disconnect the six HVAC housing wiring connectors (1). This includes two connectors to the servos on the left side of the HVAC housing, two connectors to the servos on the right side of the HVAC housing and two connectors to the HVAC blower motor area. 42. Remove the fence bolt (1) located near the windshield on the driver side. 43. Remove the weather gasket (1) over the opening located behind the front door. Repeat on the opposite side. 12
NOTE: Take precautionary measures to prevent damage to the panels and paint finish. 44. Accessing through the opening between the front door (3) and the fender edge (2), remove the bolt (1) securing the instrument panel at the side. Repeat on the opposite side. 45. Remove the floor vent (2). Repeat for the opposite side. 46. Remove the instrument panel floor bracket bolt (3). Repeat on the opposite side. 47. Disconnect the passenger air bag (PAB) squib connectors. 48. Remove the bolt (3) securing the PAB bracket to the HVAC housing. 13
49. Remove the two fasteners (1) securing the instrument panel to the vehicle. Repeat on the opposite side. 50. In the center stack area, remove the two upper bolts (1) securing the instrument panel to the HVAC housing. 51. From within the access holes (3) position the insulation aside and remove the two lower bolts securing the instrument panel to the HVAC housing 52. Unfasten the instrument panel wiring harness and retaining clip (2) from the HVAC housing. 14
53. With the help of an assistant, pull rearward to disengage the alignment pins (2) and remove the instrument panel (1) from the vehicle. 15
