In this seminars ther than academia, lecturers frm industry and gvernment are invited and free, frank and active discussin is made. 4 Vehicle t Vehicle 4
2.2 Glbal Cllabratin Besides dmestic cllabratin, ITS center is actively engaged in internatinal partnerships. ITS center hsts an internatinal sympsium every year exchanges faculty members and students, share infrmatin and facilities with ther universities and institutes arund the wrld. 3 Sustainable transprtatin Lw emissin and energy saving Safety and security Cmfrt and healthy Anti-disaster and emergency Scial changes and aging sciety Cnnected and autmated driving fr 2020 Tky Olympic and Paralympic 3.1 Keywrds fr sustainable transprt develpment ITS fr rad traffic and advanced autmbile Imprvement f energy efficiency f autmbiles Intelligent management f traffic, energy flw Autnmus driving and self-driving Advance guideway system Mdal shift frm autmbile t public transprt system LRT 5 and new cncept system Ech-ride in urban area Energy efficiency High-speed rail and Megalev Persnal Mbility Prmte t small EV and human pwer Prmte frm autmbile t public transit Rbtic tw-wheel vehicle fr stability and safety 5 Light Rail Transit 5
4 Field experiments at Chiba Experiment Statin, IIS, the University f Tky (ITS P&R experiment fields) Frm April 2017 a new test facility is pened and put int peratin just beside Institute f industrial sciences at Kashiwa campus f University f Tky. This facility is called Chiba Experiment Statin r ITS P&R experiment field. The test statin incrprates several tests facilities which are briefly mentined in fllwing. Figure 5, the layut f ITS P&R experiment field 4.1 Prving Grund and Experimental Traffic Lights The prving grund has an asphalt pavement and can accmmdate different types f experiments related t autmbiles, mtrcycles, aircraft and thers. We can cnduct varius experimental research in the field f mechanical engineering, traffic engineering, ergnmics and acustical engineering. There is an experimental intersectin with traffic lights installed t reprduce an actual rad envirnment such as city rad and rail rad crssing. This allws us t cnduct experiments that are difficult t perfrm in the actual traffic envirnment. Intelligent Transprt Systems (ITS) research is initiated with the cllabratin amng industry, academia, and gvernment, t prmte new safe driving assistance system, autmated driving, and V2X related develpment. 6
4.2 Driving simulatr fr large vehicle Figure 6, prving grund and experimental traffic lights T prmte the applicatin f autmated driving in public transprt and lgistics systems the ITS center have develped a driving a simulatr specialized fr large vehicles such as bus and heavy-duty truck. The simulatr is used t carry ut experiments invlving dangerus situatins and requirements f cntrlling experimental cnditins. The driving simulatr has a 6 degrees f freedm mtin system and a visual system t respnd a view f large vehicles. Using the driving simulatr, Tky University experts are cnducting studies n HMI (Human Machine Interface) and evaluatin f scial acceptance fr the realizatin f autmated driving in bus and truck systems fr the next generatin f traffic systems. 360-degree screen Car navigatin system Turn table fr yw mtin x-y table fr adjustment f yw center develped by cllabratin with industries internatinally Figure 7, large vehicle driving simulatr 7
4.3 Chiba test track 2.0 and scaled mdel vehicle running test track Test track facilities are used t study mtin and vibratin cntrl f railway vehicles. Using a full-scale test track (abut 333m in length), actual bgies and vehicle can travel n straight line, a transitin curve, a steady curve (R 33.3 m), railrad crssing and switching. Wheel/rail cntact patches are measured and abnrmal vehicle states riginating in bgies f track are detected. Mrever, using a 1/10 scale running platfrm with R 3.3 m steady curve a scale mdel bgie can be perated and investigated. Research is being carried ut n the effects f changing track r vehicle cnditins and n a nvel bgie running system and wheel rail triblgy including wet envirnment.
