Aerofoil Ventilation Fans Quality & Performance at Affordable Prices

GENERAL FEATURES, located in Chennai strives to deliver quality products at affordable costs to all its customers. Our company s vision is to deliver products that are comparable in quality to our counterparts in the developed world at Indian prices. Aerofoil ventilation fans of standard sizes have been designed to cater to the ventilation requirements of workshops, warehouses, commercial buildings, factories, tunnel ventilation and any such application that requires fresh air to be delivered in large quantities. At every step of our design process, we have ensured that our fans are light weight, efficient, simple to install, with little maintenance and an excellent overall performance. We are happy to do the extra service of selecting the appropriate fan for your application given the layout drawing of the structure under consideration for ventilation totally free of cost. Aerofoil ventilation fans are designed with aerofoil shaped blades gravity / die cast from aluminum. Our fan models are tested for aerodynamic performance according to BS 848 standard. all World class quality at affordable prices Our overheads being less in comparison with competition and efficient manufacturing processes in addition to the cheap labour force in India enable us to keep our prices very attractive. Noiseless Operation and minimal Vibration Dynamic balancing of our impellers in accordance with ISO 2056, Q2.5 together with our aerodynamic design renders minimal vibration and noise. Light Weight and Easy to Install Aluminium Impellers and Sheet metal fabricated shell make our fans light weight in construction. Aerofoil ventilation fans come in fully assembled condition and are ready to be installed instantly.

Excellent aerodynamic performance and good efficiency Our model testing exercises with wind tunnels enable us to come up with designs that are energy efficient and give optimum performance. Wide Range of sizes We offer a wide range of impeller diameters ranging from impeller diameters of 300 mm to 600 mm covering almost all practical requirements for heavy duty ventilation A GUIDE TO SELECTION Identify the total volumetric flow rate and pressure required at standard air conditions (.3 kg/m 3 @ 36 Deg) Estimate the flow rate from the number of air changes required for the given plant (typically 25 air changes, times the plant volume in one hour for industrial premises). Based on, the number of fans required to deliver the required flow rate, divide the total flow rate by the number of fans to arrive at the flow rate per fan. The fan pressure should meet the pressure drop in the ducts, filter, etc. Select a speed at which fans need to operate. Lower speed (980 rpm) results in lesser noise. The below mentioned graphs indicate the flow rate in Cubic meters per hour Vs the Pressure for impeller sizes ranging from 300 mm to 600 mm. Each of the graphs below has limits (indicated by crisscrossing curves) between which it is advice able to operate the fans. Depending on the flow rate, pressure and speed, the required fans can be chosen from the graphs. EXTRA ATTACHMENTS Depending on whether the fan is going to be an FD (fans forcing air through a system) or an ID Fan (Fans sucking air through a system), additional attachments have to be introduced. FD Fans are typically open to the atmosphere on one side and pump in fresh air into the system. The main parts of a typical FD fan (typically smaller than impeller Φ 700 mm) are depicted in the diagram towards the right.

The main parts of an FD Fan (greater than impeller dia of 700mm are attached in the drawing below. ID Fans are typically similar in arrangement to FD Fans excepting for the inlet cone/bell as the case may be. INLET CONE An Inlet cone is a device that is typically used with smaller axial fans facing the direction of flow in order to minimize entry losses. INLET BELL Inlet Bells are used with larger fans to minimize entry losses. Entry losses are minimized to a greater extent while using inlet bell instead of inlet cones. DIFFUSER WITH GUIDE VANES Diffusers are typically used with larger axial fans to recover the static pressure. Diffusers are also fitted with guide vanes that will prevent swirls and will facilitate exit of air along the axis of the fan. Diffusers can be used in both FD and ID Fans. INLET FILTER Inlet filters are required for FD fans in situations where dust and vermin proof air is desired and always come with an extra attachment called transition. Filters are placed facing the direction of flow and can be used to filter particles as small as 20 microns. MOTORS Our axial fans are typically fitted with Siemens make motors with IP55 class insulation, however other brands of motors with special insulations can also be provided on special request.
